I don't know if it's too soon or not to post this thread when all the results haven't been published yet but wanted to give my opinion on the result so far.

Glad Marilyn has made it into the top twenty, especially as she wasn't even on screen when the poll was taken. It's good to see past characters rate so high as well such as Angie Russell (25) and Gypsy Nash (12). I am surprised Morag only made it to 13 but I suppose she hasn't been on screen in quite a while. What I am most surprised by (and this will go against public opinion) is how Joey ranked so high. I never liked Joey as a character, to me it appeared that she was bullying Charlie into coming out, something Charlie wasn't quite ready for but Joey put pressure on her into doing so. Because of this, I never warmed to the character. I am surprised Colleen only made it to 44, but then again she is just a background character, although I do love yer (yet I didnt vote fo her!)

So, amongst others, we have Sally, Irene, Alf, Leah and Miles competing for no1. I hope Miles doesn't get it. I'd love if Sally or Alf got it, with Irene at 2 or 3!

I'm kind of shocked how many seem to stereotype the Joey fans. Not all of us liked her character because she was a lesbian... that just sweetened the pot ! I thought she had potential until they began to rush the storyline and made her seem needy and pushy.

I actually didn't realize this poll was going on until I saw the results being posted. I'll post more comments later...

I never thought Joey was that memorable - the only thing that made her 'original' in a sense, was that she was gay, other than that I thought she was quite bland.

It'll be interesting to see what the results are but I think Bobby should have made it to top 5 without a shadow of a doubt, obviously this poll represents current fans opinions and the majority of fans who voted are most likely the new wave generation, with that in mind, I'm sure Aden and Belle will be a top contenders.

Yeah, I think the poll was much more low key this year than we've seen in previous polls.

I think, in fairness, Joey was extremely memorable when compared to some of the other guest characters we had to put up with in 2009. Claudia anyone?

I'll be very interested to see where Sally places this year. As this poll, and previous polls show, characters do tend to slip a bit once they've departed, so it'll be interesting to see whether her popularity has remained or slipped a little. I hope it's remained!

And always nice to see Angie is still so well thought of - can you believe it's almost been 8 years since we first saw her!! :o

I think if I have weak spot, it's that I'm not a salesman; I'll stick something up and announce it, and if you're interested, good. Well, if you're not, well that's good as well.

I think, and this Joey point might keep returning, and the views expressed in the piece are entirely my own and may differ from every other BTTB staff member is that Joey was a mediocre guest character who happened to be gay and that the majority of her votes are for people interested, or someway involved in gay rights were voting for her.

I, personally, didn't see enough in her other stories which would lead me to believe that were she not gay, she'd been 11th.

At least the results are interesting enough to cause debate.

I agree that people voted for her just because she was gay and H&A was long overdue a gay character. I am gay and I was offended by the way she was portrayed. She practically bullied Charlie into coming out. I would love a gay character in Summer Bay, but not someone so stereotypical. Look at Emmerdale - they do gay best and it would do no harm for the rest of the soaps to take a leaf out of their book!

So, we've got Sally, Miles, Leah, Alf, Belle, Aden, Charlie, Irene, Angelo and Martha for the top ten if I'm not mistaken. I can't believe Angelo is in there, it just shows that people will vote for whoever is in the current cast. I can't believe what a spectacular fall from grace Kit Hunter has had, there was a time when she was in the top 5 and now she is at 79!!

Does anyone know if the powers that be at Seven actually look at these polls? The last time the results made it onto Digital Spy so it'd be interesting to know who else views them.

Joey's popularity is without a doubt down to her being a lesbian, it happens in every show. Whenever a gay couple/storyline comes on a show then they build the biggest fanbases possible! I've seen it happen a couple of times. We may be stereotyping the Joey fans but its a fact that she wouldn't be half as popular than she is/was if she was straight. I wouldn't mind but it was one of the most epic fails of a storyline I've ever seen on television.

I'm rooting for Sally!! Sally FTW!! :D

Angelo ? Seriously ? how awful is that!:rolleyes:

Angelo's nowhere near the top ten, he was back in the 40's with 7 votes

Here's my top 10 prediction, in order: 1. Sally 2. Aden 3. Belle 4. Charlie 5. Irene 6. Matilda 7.Leah 8. Martha 9. Alf 10. Miles

Oh yeah you're right! I wonder who I missed from the top ten so? I would be surprised if Matilda made it to the top ten - what about Oliver Philips? Everyone loved him!!
