I would put Kane & Kirsty in a list of iconic characters, I know that they were very popular back in their day and again if someone mentioned the names Kirsty & Kane then a lot of people who don't even watch H&A would know who they are and that their from H&A.

I was thinking that perhaps the Summer Bay House is an iconic character. It was where Tom and Pippa first set up home and has endured throughout all the various families since.

Just a thought

Yeah I would class Kane and Kirsty probably not as iconic as others such as Marilyn and Donald and Ailsa, but still, I think they are probably the two characters that have become most iconic out of the characters introduced in the Noughties. :)

If I could pick just one character it would probably be Angel. I suppose it is because of the time I started watching the show (just before she arrived), and my age at that time (very young). I remember being completely enthralled by this amazing free-spirited character, who didn't live by other people's rules, and who had a very distinctive hippy-ish look, with the two plaits in her hair. Her storylines were always very dramatic, and the romance between her and Shane just seemed incredible to me at a very impressionable age.

Though she was only a guest I think Angie was quite an iconic character for the time. She got a lot of people watching the show - a lot of middle aged men because of her looks... But also just the whole storyline. Everybody was talking about it; everybody was on the edge of their seat waiting for her downfall. She did reignite new interest in the show - at least for a little while.

I was also going to suggest Angie before I found your post. I think that the continued popularity of Angie, despite never being a regular cast member and only appearing on the show for some 6 months or so, is testament to how powerful her character was. She symbolises that era of the show, and I would struggle to identify a character who made such a lasting impression in so short a time.

Hayley's presence on the magazine list made me realise that, although she would not have otherwise come to mind, she was probably one of the most famous characters for quite a while, considering Bec Cartwright's celebrity status and her marriage to a tennis player, etc.

Also because she was around for so long.
