Three elderly passengers are finding it difficult to breath, dozens have minor head injuries, three children have minor concussions and one male is pinned under the seats, he’s saying he can’t feel his legs, and has a severe blood loss” Paramedic Kelsey told Officer Hewitt “What about the driver of the car?” “Driver has a cut to his head, and is pinned in his car. He has not complaints of pain, he just throwing profanities at us all” “Is he in any danger?” Hewitt asked “None. He isn’t complaining of any pain, and an initial check has been made, we can’t find evidence of internal bleeding” “Right. Check everyone else, keep this driver until last if possible” Hewitt rubbed his forehead. “What’s wrong sir?” asked Davis, his partner “Photograph this area. Get the bus and the car. Take no photos of the casualties” “Ok sir” “Dislocation of the right shoulder, broken wrist and minor blood loss from the cut on her arm” One paramedic told a nurse as a child was wheeled into the hospital “Head laceration, deep, had few stitches at side of the road, not looking good, blood loss high” Another paramedic told Rachel Rachel looked on in horror. How could someone cause this? She thought to herself. More casualties were brought in. The children from the bus, the driver of the bus, and half of the other passengers. “Any fatalities yet?” Rachel asked as she wheeled a child into A&E “None yet, although it doesn’t look good for one passenger” the paramedic replied. “The road block is causing tail back of traffic, up to five miles of traffic has formed. The accident which occurred at half past five this evening is causing many problem. Police blocked of the road leading from costal town of Summery bay to the hospital, journeys to Summer bay and the hospital have been diverted adding an extra thirty minutes onto a journey. Police are hoping the road will be re-opened within the next half-hour. Inquiries into how the accident happen will begin tomorrow. In other news, Mp…” “Strewth!, Hope Angelo wasn’t called in for that” Alf said as he switched the radio down. “He might have been, he left here ion a hurry about an hour ago” Irene added. “Well if you ask me its these young hooligans. They pass their driving tests and then bam. They cause an accident” Colleen said as she slapped her hands together “Jack?.. It’s dad, look, Alex is here, she said you two had a fight. Can you ring me as soon as you can? Cheers mate” Tony hung up. “Didn’t answer you either?” Alex snapped “He’s probably busy” Tony replied “Yea, busy with her” Alex scoffed “Now wait. Jack isn’t like that. He would never cheat. He has probably got doing something and hasn’t had chance to look at his phone” “Oh my god” Jack said as he looked at the accident. Georgina walked up to one of the officers. “Watson” the officer shouted. “Look. I’m sorry..” “Why are you sorry? You’re not in the car, you’re not injured. All I want to know is how this car came to be stolen” “I was investigating the drugs case with Dan Tendril, this then lead me on to him at 611 hillside. that’s where the car was stolen from me” “So the man inside the police car is Dan Tendril?” “That’s correct” Georgina replied. Leah drove the car as fast as she could. Ruby looked behind her as she saw Charlie breathing through the pain. Angelo had hold of Charlie. Leah saw flashing light up ahead. “****” “What?” Angelo asked Leah didn’t speak. She gestured to look out of the window. Angelo looked. He saw the bus, with the police car in the front end. He then saw his colleagues. “Turn right, follow the road!” Angelo shouted. Leah turned the car, Ruby grabbed hold of the dash as the car spun round. Leah sped down the road. Branches whipped the side of the car, twigs snapped under the car. “We’re not going to get to the hospital!” Charlie said as she breathed through the pain. The contractions were really close now. “We will’ Angelo said as he held Charlie’s hand. “Just breath” Charlie let out another scream, this time she felt something move “Oh god! Angelo!” Charlie said before she was overcome with more pain. Angelo could tell by how hard Charlie was squeezing his hand that she was having these babies now. A fire engine pulled up to the scene. Attaching the police car to the pulley system on the fire engine. “Get that guy outta there!” shouted a fireman A paramedic and an officer freed Dan. Escorting him to the back of an ambulance, they pulled away.

"Jack still hasn’t rung?” Alex asked “No. he’s probably got himself doing something, like I keep saying” Tony replied “Cut the crap. You and I both know he’s banging some hoe” “Aren’t you supposed to be his girlfriend?” Tony asked “Yea, so?” “Then you should know he wouldn’t cheat on you” “Please, all he thinks about is that tart he dumped here. For the first couple of weeks we knew each other all he’d talk about would be her” Tony’s phone rang. “This might be him now. Hello?…Rach?…oh my god… oh, alright. See you later…love you too”. “What was that?” Alex asked “There’s been a car crash. Rachel has to work overtime” “Anyway back to Jack..” “Alex, there’s been a crash and al you think of is your problems?” “What the hell do you want me to do about it?” “Show some compassion!” “Oh no how terrible” Alex said, without feeling. “You’re a cold bitch, do you know that?” Tony said to her. “Excuse me?” “You heard” Tony said. Then walked out of the house. Rachel felt overwhelmed. Everywhere she looked there were patients. “Rachel! We got a flat-line in here!” Julie shouted from the room Rachel ran into the room. “Charging, 300. Stand clear!” Rachel shocked the man. Nothing happened. After six attempts, nothing happened. “Time of death. 6:45pm” Rachel walked out of the room. A nurse walked over to the elderly woman sitting in the corridor. The woman held an ice pack on the bruise on the side of her head. The ice pack hit the floor. Her cries sent shivers down Rachel’s spine. The officer who was at the scene of the accident walked over to Rachel. “Dr. Armstrong?” “Holden, actually” “Sorry. That gentleman. Was he a victim of the crash?” “Yes” “Thank you” The officer began to walk away “Excuse me? Why do you want to know?” “The driver of the police car. He’ll be charged” Jack and Georgina walked back into the station. Both looking dazed as they entered the office. “One dead. Thirty injured” Georgina said “And all to get away from us” Jack added. “Better get the reports done” Georgina grabbed a file from the shelf. Jack took his phone out of his pocket. “Thirteen missed calls. Someone loves me” Jack said as he looked at the screen. “I’d better go. See you later” Jack waved as he walked out of the room. Miles walked into Noah’s. “Alf. You seen Leah recently?” “Last time I saw her she left with Ruby, I think. Why?” “I can’t find her anywhere, and she isn’t picking up her phone” “It looked important. Ruby I mean, she ran in here looking for Charlie with Xavier” “Maybe she’s in labour” Miles joked. Alf laughed “Yea, maybe” Miles’s laugh calmed. “Actually mate, Charlie didn’t look so good just before she left” Alf said “Come on, we’ll take the Ute, maybe we can find them” Charlie screamed, the pain was too much. Clinging to her chest, she cried out. “Leah pull over, these babies aren’t going to wait!” Angelo said. Leah pulled over. Opening the trunk she grabbed the blankets. Ruby went and sat behind Charlie, stroking her back and breathing with her. Leah took her mobile out and rang the hospital. “I see a head!, come on Charlie, you can do it” Angelo said. Charlie pushed as and when she could, each time clutching her chest. “Well done babe, nearly there, one more push” Charlie pushed again, her head flopped back, her hand still clutching her chest. A few seconds later she heard a baby cry, “You did it!, look Charlie“, Angelo smiled. Charlie let out a happy cry. Angelo then cut the cord and passed the baby to Ruby who wrapped it up in one of the blankets. Charlie smiled as she realised she was a mother now. Moving her head to look behind her, she tried to look at her baby when all of a sudden, she had to push again.

Hope you enjoy this! “Cause of accident: driver swerving loosing control” An officer told his colleague. “Police car’s trashed” he said as he kicked the bumper that was hanging off the car. “He’s looking at 3-6 years for this alone. More if somebody turns up dead” The officers walked away from the scrap yard. “All units needed for back up, we have an armed robbery in place down at grove’s fish market. South along Winston road” “Copy that” The officer said as he talked down his radio. “Is the night for it” The other officer spoke Two police officers stood outside room 5. Inside, Rachel was doing some checks on a man. “Broken arm and an shattered femur” Rachel said coldly. Dan shook his head. “When the hell can I get out?” “Not for me to say” “What? You’re my doctor. Sort me out” Dan demanded. “I’m not your doctor anymore. You’ll have to talk to the officers in charge” Dan’s face dropped. Rachel walked over to the door, opening it, she let in the officers. “Dan Tendril. You are under arrest.” “For what? And how the hell am I supposed to get to the station?” “You will be escorted there via wheelchair. And you really want to know what for?” “Yes” Dan answered obnoxiously “Death by dangerous driving, possession of a fire arm without a licence, stealing a police vehicle” Dan sat. unsure of what to say next. “Shall we?” the officer said, holding an arm out, showing the door. “Keep him on the drip for another 48 hours. Then we will re-assess the situation then” Rachel told the nurse on duty. Walking into the staff room she couldn’t believe the amount of patients that had just been treated. One man had died from a major bleed in his head. Four people were in a critical condition, one person was in an induced coma and several others had suffered broken bones, shock, whiplash and other minor injuries. Rachel’s phone vibrated across the table. “Hey” Rachel said down the phone. “You ok Rach? You don’t sound so good” Tony said “Just had an influx of people. From the car accident” Rachel replied “Yea, I heard that on the radio. How you holding up?.” “I’m exhausted. Just want to come home, have a bath and climb into bed next to you” “When do you finish?” “Finish at nine” “In half an hour? I’ll come and pick you up” Tony replied “Thank you” Rachel replied, sleepily. Charlie breathed heavily as she tried to catch her breath. “Look Charlie, look what we did!” Angelo said as he held one of the babies. Charlie tried to look. She winched in pain as her chest pounded. “Charlie?” Angelo worryingly asked Charlie’s body went still. Her breathing slowed. Her eyes closed. Suddenly everything went black…. “Mum!” Ruby screamed as she watched Charlie slip away. Leah started the car, Angelo passed the baby he was holding to Ruby. Positioning Charlie right, so she and him were comfy, they set off. “Please don’t die” Angelo whispered in Charlie’s ear. “She’s going to be ok isn’t she?” Ruby asked through her tears. “She will. She’ll make it” Leah said as she stroked Ruby’s arm. Ruby looked down at the twins. She smiled as she looked at her siblings. But cried when she looked back and saw Charlie laying there. Motionless. “Mummy, mummy!” Two children shouted as they jumped on Charlie. “Daddy’s got us an ice cream!” the child smiled “Its got chocolate, and sprinkles, and a toy!” the other child smiled “Does daddy have one for mummy?” Charlie asked The twins looked at each other. Screwing their faces up, they shook their heads at each other and then to Charlie. “Mummy doesn’t get one” One child laughed. Alf and Miles pulled up to where the accident had taken place. Traces of glass were still on the ground, and the tyre marks on the road were still visible. “Strewth” Alf said as he looked at the ground Miles looked around. “I can’t see Leah’s car” Miles walked to the back of the Ute. Flashing his light at the bushes he saw something shine on the floor. Walking over to the object he saw a blanket with a phone on top. Miles pressed a button on the phone, the phone light up and showed the word HOSPITAL. “They’re at the hospital” Miles said as he ran back to Alf. “What makes you say that mate?” Alf asked “Leah’s phone. The last place she called was the hospital. Come on, lets go”

Alf and Miles pulled up outside the door. “Tony?” “Miles?, Alf?” The three men stared at each other. “What are you doing here?” Miles asked Tony “I’m meeting Rachel. What are you doing here?” Tony said “We think Leah is here” “Why? What’s wrong with her?” Tony asked “Nothing. We think something is wrong with Charlie” Rachel looked down the corridor and saw the men. “What are you all doing here?” She asked “Rach, have you seen Leah or Charlie?” Miles asked “No I haven’t. why?” Rachel asked Just as Miles was about to talk they heard a car screech to a halt. “It’s Leah” Miles said as he looked at the car. Leah got out of the car and ran round to open the door for Angelo. Angelo got out of the car and then grabbed Charlie. Bringing her close, he carried her into the hospital. “Oh my god!, what happened?” Rachel asked as she rushed over to Angelo “She had the babies then she just went limp, she hasn’t woken up since” Angelo spoke, his voice shaky. “Where are the twins?” Miles asked “Ruby has them” Angelo replied as he carried on walking down the hall Miles went outside and saw Leah and Ruby holding a baby each. Ruby looked like she was about to collapse. “Here, let me take it” Miles said as he held out his arms. Ruby slowly gave Miles the baby. As soon as she had, she fell to the floor in an exhausted heap. Tony rushed over and picked her up. Miles, Tony and Leah followed Rachel and Angelo as the went down the corridor. One hour later….. Ruby sat up in bed. “Why have you treated me? My mum needs the attention. She’s not conscious!” “Ruby, you’ve had a hypo. You should be on track with your diabetes” The doctor told her “I am. I just didn’t think to have a chocolate bar when my mum was giving birth at the side of the road” Ruby sarcastically replied. “You should know by now when you need to eat these foods. The situation shouldn’t change that” The doctor looked at Ruby. She could tell Ruby didn’t care about what she was going through. “Look. Give the drip five more minutes and then you can go see your siblings” Ruby smiled. “And what about mum?” …… Angelo paced. He was in two minds. Happy that he was a father, and that he saw his children born into the world. Upset that Charlie never got to hold either of her children. Upset that he hadn’t heard anything from the doctors. Upset that he can’t hold his children. “Charlie, please. don’t go. We need you. Ruby, needs her mum. Our children need their mother. Please” Angelo begged. “I want to stay, but can’t” Charlie cried “Mummy!” A child shouted “Mummy!” Another child shouted. “Mum?” Ruby shouted. “Charlie, don’t leave. Stay…….Stay. ……Stay……….Stay……….. Stay.” Ruby walked up to Charlie. Charlie smiled at her daughter. “Mum” Ruby pushed Charlie gently, causing her to jerk backwards. “Ruby” Charlie spoke, shocked. Ruby did the same thing again. The white light that surrounded Charlie became faint…… “Charging. 300. Clear!” The doctor shouted. Placing the paddles on Charlie her body jerked. “Got a heartbeat” the nurse said as the machine beeped again. “Pulse strong, vitals improving” Another doctor said. The doctor walked over to the door. He opened the door. Angelo turned to face the door. Anguish covered Angelo’s face.

We have managed to get her heart beating again, however she is still very weak. We would have like to perform a caesarean” “Well we couldn’t get here ’cos of he accident” Angelo snapped “Sir, I understand that this is a lot to take, but that attitude isn’t helping any of us” The doctor softly spoke “You understand do you? I have just watched Charlie deliver her children, and watched her practically die in my arms, and you’re telling me what you would have liked?” “Sir, if you continue raising your voice at me I’m going to have to ask you to leave” “So what happens now?” Angelo asked. “We’ll monitor Charlie closely for the next 24 hours. The initial danger is over, however she could suffer another heart attack” “But she’s going to be ok?” Angelo asked “At the moment she is absolutely fine, just sore, groggy and tired. Nothing a good night sleep wont fix” “She really is going to be ok?” Angelo smiled “At the moment I will say she’s comfortable. I’ll be able to say more tomorrow when I run more tests and the first night is over” “Thank you” Angelo said as he shook the doctors hand. “Can I go in?” “Wait for me!” Ruby shouted as she ran down the corridor “Where have you been?” Angelo asked “Having a check over. I had a hypo. I’m alright. How’s mum?” “We can go in and see her” “Really?” Ruby smiled “Yes, but don’t overwhelm her” The doctor said. Angelo slowly opened the door. He peered inside. “Hey” He whispered as he looked at Charlie. Charlie smiled at him, but the smiled turned to tears. “Hey, what’s the matter?” Angelo asked as he walked over to the bed “I didn’t get to hold them. I didn’t get to see them” Charlie cried “Look, the doctors have to do a couple of tests on them and then we can see them” Angelo said as he stroked Charlie’s face “It’s my fault” Charlie cried. “I should have said something earlier” “About what?” Angelo asked, confused “I felt a couple of pains before my water broke. I was talking to Leah. If I said something, we’d be holding our babies right now.” “Charlie, don’t blame yourself. You weren’t to know” “Yea mum he’s right” Ruby walked up to Charlie and took her hand. “I’m so sorry Ruby” Charlie said “For what?” “For what I put you through” “Mum, don’t. you didn’t put me through anything. Yea, you scared me back there, but I scare you all the time, it was about time you did it to me” Ruby said, hoping to make Charlie smile. “Thanks Rubes” Charlie smiled slightly. “What did we have?” Charlie asked as she looked at Angelo. Angelo smiled “Any news?” Leah asked as she, Miles and Tony rose to their feet. “Charlie suffered a heart attack, but she’s ok at the moment. Ruby and Angelo are in there now talking to her. They’re all just relieved they can see each other” “And the twins?” Tony asked “They’re little fighter. Doing well, considering how early they are. A little smaller than they should be, but other than that, healthy” “Do you know what they are?” Miles asked “No. I wasn’t in the room when the tests were done. We’ll have to wait and see”

Where the hell have you been?“ Alex demanded as Jack walked through the door. “What? You know where. I was at the station” “It doesn’t take long to say a quick hello to old colleagues” Alex shouted “I was talking and then I went and helped with the car accident on the summer bay road” Jack said “Yea, sure” Alex scoffed “I was” “Jack, don’t lie. I know you were with her” “Who Georgina? We used to be partners at works, nothing more, and I went with her tonight to help with the accident” “I don’t believe you” “We were sitting at the desk when we moved outside to go check up on a lead. When we got to the house, the car got stolen. So we ran after the car and that’s when we helped with the car accident” Jack told Alex. Alex stood with her arms folded. “You think I’m stupid? You think I don’t know that that was a load of s***? Just admit it Jack” “I haven’t done anything wrong!” Jack shouted. “Don’t raise your voice at me!” Alex pointed. “Why not? You raise yours to me!” Jack shouted back. Alex glared at him before storming out. Jack shook his head in disbelief. “Where is she?” Alex demanded “Who?” asked one of the officers “Jack Holden’s little slut!” “She’s stood right there” The officer said as he pointed at Alex “Excuse me?” Alex said Georgina walked out of the interview room. “You bitch!” Alex shouted as she ran over to Georgina. “Get off!” Georgina shouted as Alex latched onto her back. Two officers intercepted, one of them grabbing Alex and taking her into the interview room. “What the hell was that about?” Freddie asked Georgina as she walked away from the door. “I have no idea”. “Would you mind telling me what that was about?” The officer asked Alex “She’s a slut. Been sleeping with my boyfriend” Alex replied “You got proof?” “He makes up this story about helping with a case, going to a house and then helping with a crash, as a way to cover his sleeping with that hoe-bag” “Well for your information. Jack and Georgina were looking into a lead. It took then to a house. Whilst there, the police car they were in got stolen. That car then caused the accident” Alex’s mouth dropped when she realised she’d made a huge mistake. “S***. I should go apologise” Alex rose to her feet. She slowly made her way to the door. “Georgina?” Alex spoke as she stepped out into the reception. Georgina walked out of the office. “Look. I just wanted to say I’m sorry. I just thought.. Well, you know” “Yes I do know. But you should have believed him. And as for what just happened, you should be glad I’m not arresting you for assaulting a police officer” “I said I was sorry, what more do you want?” Alex said. “Less the attitude or I will put you in the cell” “Excuse me Rachel, but, do you know how Charlie and the twins are doing?” Colleen asked as she walked over to her, Tony, Leah and Miles “They’re doing just fine. I think she’s allowed visitors now, I could pass on a message if you’d like” “No it’s alright pet, I just wanted to know how they were doing. I might go round me self and see” Colleen replied. “Have they thought of any names yet?” Miles asked as he drank some of his juice. “Not that I know of. At the minute they’re baby A. Rosetta and baby C. Rosetta” “I can’t wait to see them” Leah said “You saw them when they were born” Mile said “Not properly. I was driving most of the time” Leah replied. “Maybe we should go round later, see how they’re doing” Tony suggested. Leah and Rachel smiled. “Nice one, now they’re going to get broody” Miles said as he leaned into Tony Charlie layed there in the hospital room. The night was uneventful, Charlie’s heart had coped through the night. Looking at the side table she saw the cards and flowers people had sent. Picking one of them up she read Charlie, Angelo. Congratulations on the new arrivals. Xx A smiled appeared on Charlie’s face. “Knock, knock” Angelo said as he walked thorough the door. “Hey” Charlie smiled. “How you feeling?” “I’ll be a lot better when I can hold my babies” “You and me both” Angelo smiled. “Have you thought of any names?” Charlie asked as she took a sip of her water. “I’m torn. I really don’t know what I like. What about you?” “What are your choices?” “Well, I thought…” Angelo was interrupted when the midwife came into the room with the babies and Ruby. Charlie gazed at the sleeping babies. The smile on her face widened. “Look what we did” Charlie said as she took hold of Angelo’s hand. “I know” Angelo smiled. “They’re gorgeous” Ruby said. “Definitely take after you mum” Angelo nudged Ruby. “No, I’m kidding” Ruby laughed. Charlie woke up three hours later. “Hey” Ruby said as she saw Charlie’s eyes flicker open. “Hey” Charlie replied, still half asleep “Where’s Angelo?” “He went to get a coffee” Charlie smiled. “So. Thought of any names whilst you were asleep?” “No. at this rate they’ll be known as ‘twin’” Charlie laughed. “Yea. Hey listen, I have to go to school, but I’ll be back as soon as I can” “Rubes, you don’t have to come back” Charlie said as she took Ruby’s hand “Yea I do” Ruby smiled. Angelo walked in the room. “Sleeping beauty is awake” he smiled “Funny” Charlie replied “I’ll see you later mum, Angelo” Ruby said as she kissed Charlie and placed her hand on Angelo’s shoulder. “The midwife is bringing the twins in, in a few minutes” Angelo said as he sat on the bed “We need to get names for them. I’m sick of calling them ‘twins’ and ‘them’, they should have names” Charlie said “I know, which is why I waited until Ruby left the room. I didn’t want her saying that she doesn’t like these names” Charlie laughed. “So what are these names you’ve chosen?” “Ruby!” Annie shouted as she ran along the corridor. “Hey” Ruby said as Annie stood next to her. “When can we see the babies?” Annie asked, out of breath “Soon, mum is been discharged from hospital tonight so the twins will be home soon” “Have they got names yet or are Charlie and Angelo still thinking” “No names. But mum is really annoyed, she wants to be able to say their name rather than it” “Well yea. I can see that. So what’s it like been a big sister?” “Really strange. I got so used to been the baby sister then I was promoted to daughter. So this is a nice change” “Do you think you’ll ever tell the twins about that?” “No. There’s no need. Besides, that was in the past, nothing good really happened there so that’s where it’ll stay” Leah and Rachel walked down the corridor. “What should we get?” Rachel asked as she opened the door to the baby section “I thought a little outfit for each of them would be nice” Leah suggested “Yea. Should we get identical ones?” Rachel asked “Are they identical twins?” “No, fraternal” Rachel said “No then” Leah smiled. “Aww, this is cute!” Rachel said as she picked up a cream outfit with a little bear on it. “Aww” Leah said as she looked at it. “I’m so terrible when it comes to babies outfits. When Tony and I have one we’ll need a house just for the baby’s clothes” Leah laughed. “Why do women get broody when they see a baby?” Miles asked “I dunno” “Helpful” Miles sarcastically replied. “I’m not worried” Miles gave Tony a look “What? I’m not. Rachel and I are in a great place, we’re married. So why not a baby?” “Because then Leah will start” “Don’t you want a baby?” Tony asked “I do, but I’m not sure if Leah is” “What makes you say that?” “She’s got VJ to think about. If VJ isn’t ok with Leah having another baby, then she wont. VJ is her life” “Yea, but he can’t dictate to Leah when she can and can’t have children” “I know, but, VJ and I have always been mates, you know? And I don’t want to jeopardize that” "Miles, give VJ some credit. He might be ok with you two having a baby" "Yea, i hope so" Leah, Rachel, Tony and Miles walked up the path to Angelo and Charlie's house. All holding gifts for the twins and for Charlie and Angelo. I have everything I ever wanted. Charlie thought to herself. Everything is perfect. Ruby opened the door. “Hi” “Hi” Charlie smiled Angelo and Charlie walked into the front room. Leah, Rachel, Miles and Tony all rose to their feet. “welcome home” Rachel said, breaking the silence “Hi” Charlie replied. Slightly surprised that they had guests. “Look, we know that we maybe shouldn’t be here, its just, we wanted to make sure everything was ok. And it looks like it is ok, so we’ll go” Rachel said “No, no stay. It’s just, we didn’t realise you’d be here. that’s all” Charlie smiled. “Are you sure?” Leah asked “Yea. We’re sure” Angelo spoke. Charlie and Angelo put the babies in the bassinets. Angelo, Tony and Miles went into the kitchen. “Congratulations mate” Tony said as he shook Angelo’s hand “Yea, congratulations” Miles added as he too, shook Angelo’s hand. “Thanks” Angelo said. A huge smiled filled his face “So? Pub?” Miles said “What for ?” Angelo asked “To wet the babies’ head” Miles said. “Yea, might as well” Angelo said. “Charlie? Just off to the pub for a bit” “Ok. See you soon” Charlie smiled. Leah and Rachel looked confused. “Where they off?” Leah asked “They’re off to wet the babies’ head” Charlie laughed. “Oh. So, what are their names?” Leah asked “We haven’t settled on names yet” Charlie confessed “Really?” “Yea. It’s so hard choosing names that will suit them” “You really haven’t chosen names?” Rachel asked, hoping that Charlie was teasing them “No we haven’t” “Have you narrowed it down?” Leah asked “No. we have no idea what to call them” Three hours later….. “They asked” Charlie said as she put one of the twins in their baby suit “Yea, so did the guys. We really need to find a good name for them” Angelo replied as he put the other baby in their baby suit. Angelo and Charlie climbed the stairs to their bedroom. Having got the twins asleep, they climbed into bed. Charlie fell straight to sleep. But Angelo gazed up at the ceiling. After what seemed five hours, Angelo got out of bed and looked at his sleeping babies. “What are we going to call you?” he whispered to them. Then it hit. Angelo knew what he wanted to call the twins. “Charlie” Angelo whispered Charlie groaned “Charlie” Angelo whispered again. “What?” Charlie replied, sleepily. “I know what to call them” “Can’t it wait until tomorrow?” Charlie pleaded “No” Angelo said Charlie sat up. “What are their names?” “Zach and Maddie” Angelo smiled.

You don’t like those names?” Angelo asked Charlie smiled. “I never told you about the dream I had. Did I?” “No. What dream?” Angelo asked as he moved closer to Charlie. “When I was in the hospital after, him. I saw myself on the beach with three children. Ruby was one of them, and there were tow smaller children, a boy and a girl. They ran up to me and called me mummy” “Aww” Angelo smiled “And they were called Zach and Maddie” Charlie smiled “Really?” Angelo asked as the shock brushed over him. “Yea” Angelo leaned into Charlie. Kissing her. “They are gorgeous” Rachel said as she sat down on the sofa “They are, aren’t they? You forget how cute they are” Tony said as he passed Rachel a drink Rachel gave Tony a look. “You really want one?” “Well, maybe more than one” Rachel replied. Tony smiled. “What the hell are you on about?!” Jack shouted as he walked through the door. “This doesn’t sound to good” Tony said as he and Rachel looked at the door “You know exactly what I’m talking about!” Alex shouted “I think maybe we should vacate before world war three breaks out” Tony said as he made his way to the kitchen. Rachel followed “Why are you been like this?” Jack asked “Like what? I haven’t changed. it’s you” Me? I haven’t done anything!” “Don’t bulls*** me! I know you still want her” “Who?” Jack asked “The slut you were with before me. Well I got news for you. It aint gonna happen. That hoe had her chance. So she can go cry in that cell of hers!” “For the last time. I wasn’t going out with Georgina!” Jack screamed “Don’t lie to me! I know what I saw!” “What did you see? Did you see a spark between us? The following day… “Where’s Alex?” Tony asked, trying to hid the grin on his face “She left” Jack replied “As in gone” “That’s the general definition of ’she’s left’” “Are you ok?” Tony asked “Yea. I’m fine.” Tony gave him a look “Dad, I mean it. I’m fine. Its best that she’s gone” “God I’m glad you said that. I couldn’t stand her!” Tony smiled “Neither could I” “So why?…” “I was still reeling after her” “Well, she was good for you mate” Tony said as he placed his hand on Jack’s shoulder. “Anyway. What you up to today?” Jack asked, to change the subject “Rach got a call from Charlie. We’re going round there in a few hours” “Do we know what the babies are called?” Jack asked. “Nope” Tony replied. “I’m gonna have to go see Charlie, last time I saw her was when she was with Warren” “Mate, I wouldn’t mention that name” Tony told Jack. “Why? He was a nice bloke” “At first” Tony replied “What do you mean?” Jack replied Tony began to tell Jack what Warren had done to Charlie. “Miles! Come on!” Leah shouted as she put her shoes on “I’m coming!” Miles shouted down “It doesn’t take you this long to brush your hair!” “I’m not brushing my hair!” Miles replied “I was been sarcastic!” Leah shouted. “Ok, I’m ready” Miles said as he held his arms out, showing that he was ready. “Good. Right, lets go” Leah grabbed her keys. She and Miles walked to the car. Tony, Rachel, Leah and Miles all met outside Angelo and Charlie’s house. Walking up the path they wondered what was going on. Leah knocked on the door. The door opened. “Hi. Come in” Angelo said as he showed them in. After sitting down on the couch, Leah looked over at Charlie. “Charlie? What’s going on?” Angelo walked back into the room. He took Zach in his arms. “Leah, Rach, Tony, Miles. We’d like you to meet. Zach and Maddie” Angelo smiled “Aww” Leah and Rachel said together. “About time” Miles answered. “Now for the real reason we asked you guys over” Angelo said as he sat down. Charlie did the same. “What?” asked Rachel. “Well, Rach, Leah. You two have always been there for me. Even before I got pregnant. And Tony and Miles, you were there for Angelo. And without that, I don’t think we would have got back together, and Zach and Maddie wouldn’t be here” Tony and Miles felt awkward. Did they say something? Or should they just take the compliments? Leah and Rachel had a single tear trickle down their faces. “And for that reason. We were wondering if you would consider been their godparents” Silence fell over the group. Angelo and Charlie looked for a response.

The vicar took the baby in her arms. “Leah, as Maddie’s god mother will you guide her as she grows in years” the vicar asked “I will” Leah replied as she watched water drizzle across Maddie’s face. “And Miles, as Maddie’s godfather, will you guide her as she grows in years?” “I will” Miles replied. Leah turned to face him and smiled. A tear fell down Charlie’s cheek as she watched her daughter smile at the vicar. Angelo rocked side to side with Zach in his arms. The vicar handed Maddie to Leah. “Zach” The vicar said as she held her hands out to Angelo “Zachary Ross Rosetta. A mark of water joins you to the holy church” The vicar looked to Rachel and Tony. “Step forward please” Rachel and Tony took a step forward. “Will you Rachel, as godmother, guide Zach as he grows in years” “I will” “And will you Tony, as godfather, guide Zach as he grows in years” “I will”. The vicar dried Zach’s head and handed him to Tony. The congregation clapped as they rose to their feet. Leah and Tony handed Zach and Maddie to Charlie and Angelo. “Can I get a picture?” A voice asked Charlie Charlie turned around. A smiled swept over her face. “Dad” “Hi baby” Ross said as he took Charlie in his arms. “When did you get here?” Charlie asked as she embraced her father “Morag and I got here a few minutes after you started. Madeline Elsie. Your mother would be so happy” a tear rolled down Ross’ cheek. “Yea?” Charlie said, she too, had a tear roll down her face. “Hello sir” Angelo said as he held out his hand “My boy” Ross shook Angelo’s hand “And don’t call me sir” “Ok. Ross” Angelo said. Ross smiled. “So, can I get this picture?” “Yea, hang on” Angelo said Ross looked confused. Angelo walked back, dragging Ruby with him. “Ross!” Ruby said excitedly Ross took Ruby in his arms. “How are you?” “I’m good. And you?” “Better for seeing my family” Ross replied. “Rubes, picture time” Angelo said as he moved her. Ross took his camera out of his pocket. “Angelo, you’re supposed to be in the picture” Ross said as he watched Angelo walk out of the picture. “How about we do a picture of you, your daughter and grandchildren” Angelo smiled. Ross nodded and passed the camera to Angelo. Ruby took Maddie in her arms, Charlie took Zach. Both standing on either side of Ross. Angelo took the picture. “Police officers are transporting him from here to the station” the nurse told her colleague “When are they going to?” “Well, he was supposed to go three days ago. But the station couldn’t take him. But we need him out for space” “Get on the phone with the city police station. Maybe they can have him” “That’s who we’re waiting for. Next best thing is Yabbie creek police station” “Try there then” The nurse walked over to the nurses station. She didn’t see room 5’s door open. She didn’t see the man limp away. The following day. Charlie had hold of the picture of her, Ross and her children. “Mum? What’s wrong?” Ruby asked when she came in the room “Nothing, I’m just happy” Charlie smiled.

Tony and Rachel sat at a table with their drinks. “I can’t believe they asked us” Rachel said “Why?” “It’s just, I was been a friend to her, and she asks me to be Zach’s godmother” “Rach, you were more than a friend, you were more than that. Something which Charlie needed. And was obviously grateful to you and Leah” “Yea, I know. But they did have to ask us” Rachel said. “Mum. Josh wants me to go to a sleep over. Is that ok?” VJ asked Leah as he ran up to her. “Erm, do I have Josh’s mums number?” Leah asked “Yea, its Mrs. Dean” VJ replied “Yea, that’s fine. Remember your toothbrush!” Leah shouted the latter as VJ ran off. “Where’s VJ?” Miles asked as he took a piece of chicken out of the pan “Stop that” Leah slapped his hand. “He’s at a sleepover” Leah replied “A sleepover? Cool” Miles smiled Leah saw the look in his eye. “Miles, I’m at work tomorrow, at seven” “Yea? So, we’re alone” Miles kissed Leah’s shoulder “So” Leah repeated “A baby doesn’t just appear” Miles said as he moved to Leah’s back Leah’s eyes widened. “A baby?” Leah took Miles’ hand and ran upstairs. The man watched as Charlie walked over to the play mat. On it he saw two small babies. Looking at the gun he had in his hand, he through it as far as he could. He walked up the path and… Charlie took two bottles over to Zach and Maddie. Maddie squealed with delight. Zach looked at the bottle, his eyes wide. Charlie laughed. Charlie had just got Zach and Maddie comfortable in her arms ready to give them their bottles when the door bell rang. Charlie sighed. Putting Zach and Maddie on the mat, she walked over to the door.
