Basically, just post who has reached the top of your favourites list ever since you first started watching. I remember I started right when we found out Zoe/Eve lived right next door to Peter, and all the stalker stuff with Jack and Martha's wedding soon after. Quite an epic introduction to me, I think. xD

Anyway...

2006 : Peter Baker (Until he 'died')

2006 - 2008 : Ric Dalby (Until he left)

2008 - 2009 : Jai Fernandez (Until Hugo arrived)

2009 - 2010 : Hugo Austen (Until he left)

2010 - Current : Charlie Buckton

Least favs:

2006: Lucas Holden (Until Drew arrived)

2006-2008: Drew Curtis (Until he left)

2008 - 2009 : Geoff Campbell (Until Liam arrived)

2009 - Current: Liam Murphy

But my favourite character so far has to be Hugo, and I'm hoping he copies Peter in returning from witness protection somehow. I also just decided I hate Liam more than I hated Geoff...

Wow my list is somewhat similar to Diner Landlord's on the favorites side - You have good taste:

1993 - 1996: Angel Parrish (until she left)

1996 - 1997: Shannon Reed (until she left)

1997 - 1999: didn't watch the show

2000 - 2004: Dani Sutherland (until she left)

2004 - 2006: Tasha Andrews/Matilda Hunter

2006 - 2008: Belle Taylor

2008 - 2009: Belle Taylor/Charlie Buckton

2009 - 2010: Charlie Buckton

As you can see for me the female characters drive the show. With only a few exceptions I never feel like the male characters on H&A get as good of storylines as the female characters do. Maybe due to the fact they target a female demographic to begin with.

Honorable mentions go to Cassie Turner, Amanda Vale (should be placed with Belle during the 2004-2006 era as their storylines were so intertwined), Josie Russell (for all the interaction with Tasha), Ruby Buckton (for all the interaction with Charlie), Annie Campbell, Indigo Walker (just because Samara Weaving rocks), Alf Stewart and Morag Bellingham (because Ray Meagher and Cornelia Frances are legends)

==================

Least favourites:

1993 - 1997: Didn't have one, the case was so strong back then they didn't have a weak link

1997 - 1999: Didn't watch the show

2000 - 2002: Brodie "I Look Like Mackenzie Phillips" Hanson

2003 - 2006: Robbie Hunter (annoying as hell, no way a guy like that in real life ends up with a girl that looks like Tasha, unbelievably unrealistic writing)

2008 - current: Angelo Rosetta (for gradually destroying the character of "Charlie Buckton")

Honorable mentions go to Leah Patterson-Baker (The only reason she's not on my main list is because she stretches through so many eras now it would be impossible for me to include anyone else on my listing. She is approaching "Debra Barone" status as far as I'm concerned. That poor kid of hers (VJ) is going to end up with some kind of complex someday)

Edit: 8:22 p.m.: I'm going to throw Dan Baker in here as well because he always seemed ticked off about something. Then again he was married to Leah so maybe that explains some of it. But seriously Dan always seemed to be agitated about one thing or another.

2000-2001: Duncan Stewart

2000-2002: Gypsy Nash

2002-2004: Jade Sutherland

2005-2008: Matilda Hunter

2008-2010: No Real Favourite

I think I was the only person to ever like Duncan and perhaps started the Apperciation thread theme with my Duncan one, at the same time I was massively into the Gypsy/Will/Dani arc. After they all left within six months, it was probably Jade that I liked most, though I'd include Shelley and Fisher throughout. After the cast that got me interested, began to disapate, I think Matilda was the character I liked best, and at the moment, I have no real favourite.

2000-2005: Hayley Smith

2000-2008: Sally Fletcher (with strong notables being Brad, Drew and Kim)

2008-2009: Roman Harris

2009-2010: Geoff Campbell

I coudln't stand Hayley or Sally, finding them slightly tedious. Roman wasn't particularly interesting and Geoff's character had been ruined so much by the time he left, he was no longer enjoyable.

I liked Duncan, although I thought they ruined him a bit in 2004 when he became a bit of an OTT villain. I did like him when he was basically a messed up kid. I couldn't stand Hayley either and I never got why so many people worshipped the ground Sally walked on. The only characters on this list I disagree with are Roman, who I loved, and Matilda, who I thought was a totally shallow creation (her "self hate" phase lasted all of two weeks before she was back to prancing around in a bikini and playing strip poker  ) and was every bit as self centred and whiney as people used to say Dani Sutherland was.

I agree with you with the OTT villian in 2004, sort of rectified in 2005, thankfully.

Roman wasn't a character that I disliked because of what he was doing. By creating a character that seemed to do so little, by coming on the screen, I kind of expected nothing to happen and therefore be bored if you get where I'm going. He was acted well, and did what he did very well, it's just I can't think of anything he did before he got blind.

I have to say that my liking of Matilda wasn't exactly down to storylining reasons!

Jeez, how can you forget the 2008 Olympic cliffhanger with him being terrorised by a Robin Hood wannabe with a bow and aarow? That storyline was truly so bad it was good.

...and how can you actually forget that he late 2007 and early 2008 he added a lot of humour to the show, his scenes with Irene in the Diner kitchen was wonderful. And he also gave a lot of warmth to the show, he was the one who saved Miles/Milco when he first appeared - he gave him food. And he took care of Aden (and his own daughter even he had never known her...) and gave him the adult support that he needed. I think that the friendship between Miles and Roman was very good too (they should have focused more on that... )

As the matter of fact, this show started with a family fostering kids, roman really took good care of Aden and Nicole, just because he was singel/not married do not mean that his actions were less worth. He practically did the same as the other foster parents; helped somebody who really needed help. And Roman was friends with everyone, old and young and it seemed natural. He was actually the character who gave me the right community feeling. I have always thought that he should have gotten with Leah (or somebody else) and become the next fostering family on the show, or just do like Noah - be a councellor at a drop in centre.

... But the rambo storyline was bad... such a storyline that they shouldn't do at all...

^Much as I liked Roman and despite the end result, frankly he came across as a pretty neglectful parent at times. He'd spend his time obsessing about Martha, then turn round and find that Aden was on an attempted murder charge and Nicole had shacked up with a psychopath. And it's hard to imagine most other Home and Away parents not only chucking one of their charges out onto the street but seemingly wanting them to stay there.
