I actually think Mink could be a good candidate for a depression storyline. Underneath all that toughness she must be a bit fragile.

I dont think i could cope watching the actor do it. Something about her just gets me.. i dunno.. i find Mink un easy to watch!

I'd like to see someone with a disability living in the community and not have the disability be the focus point,if you know what i mean...

I also like the self harm idea.

Um, I'd just like to see someone get a pet

It doesn't sound difficult but there hasn't been a pet in the bay since Scruffy, and he was a work dog who mysteriously disappeared when Jonah did, so it must be difficult for them. I don't remember Jonah's "real" name... Michael was it? Anyway, a pet that lasts more than one episode (Ryan's cockroach: RIP) or a couple of months would be nice to see.

I'd like to see a bullying storyline with one of the teens. It probably wouldn't work with any of the current ones (although it might have with Annie a few years ago), so they could do it with a new younger teenage character. I know they briefly touched on it with VJ at the end of last year, but I'd rather see a long-term storyline. That could then develop into a self-harm storyline for the teen who is being bullied.

So it could be the teenager who has been bullied self harming, with the whole "behind the bully, sad life, ect" story? Two in one. I also agree/want this.

I agree with that

I also have two storylines that were never dealth with proerly - Ruby and her 'diabetes' as its never been mentioned again is one....lets have someone living with it properly (aka for example one having to take insulin injections due to type 1 etc.)

and this has been done to death but I am so angry and upsent with how the writers didnt end Jack's death storyline...im sorry but as a long time viewer i found it as an insult to my intellegence

I'm gonna jump aboard the depression-teen-thing. I think seeing a teenager deal with a "real" problem (not just clothing and boyfriends and such drama) would be a nice addition, because a lot of teenagers actually have a really hard time in life because of things like depression, anxiety, self-harm and such, but just like adults, they can be really good at hiding it. Because of that, those around them usually don't discover it before the person with the problems lose control, or before they seek help themselves, which may be far, far down the line. And it doesn't have to be the chilled out and rebellious goth kid who wants to be a vampire, because it's often "normal" teens, or even those who seem to be doing well socially, academically, etc, and it's not something that can be fixed by spending five minutes at a self-help site online. This is an extremely heavy and serious issue that can follow people into their adulthood and affect their quality of life in a very sad way.

Unfortunately, if H&A would do something like it, I wouldn't be surprised if some rebellious outsider who had overly obvious problems would be caught cutting himself by someone within the first week, and the next week he'd talked to someone and be all better. I don't think they'd consider depression or anxiety etc. to be upbeat and dramatic enough, especially if they were to have it be a long term issue (like it usually is).

Also, a proper "gay" storyline would be nice, or perhaps, rather just a gay character. But, instead of the focus being on the character being gay, he or she (probably a she because lesbians tend to make less of a fuss with the conservatives), could actually get a normal life, where the focus was on them as a person, not just a gay person. And if it was a woman, then it would be great if they could refrain from having her go back to men after two weeks would be great. :)

I think if they were going to do a depression/self-harm/suicide storyline, they should do it with a regular character, someone who we're all familiar with instead of a new temporary character who will disappear in a few weeks when they get miraculously better.

I always think storylines stay with me, and I remember them more if it's with a regular character. If its a temporary one, the storyline disappears with the character.

Just read all of the comments, and I have to say that I'm gunna be another one to jump on the band wagon.

I think a teen depression/self harm storyline could be great. I know they are trying to make Home and Away more light hearted, family orientated & all about love... but lets face it... we need a pessimistic storyline chucked in there somewhere!

I think a good character to have taken this on board with the depression and self harm storyling could have been Jai... but the chances of that happening now is ....zilch.

We never really saw his character been made good use of he was always Annie's sheep so it could have added that substance he always lacked.

I agree we do need a strong teen character and the only one I can possibly think of is Nicole... but I think that this storyline just somehow wouldn't fit her character and I think she is probably the most over used out of all of them and Ruby is slowly following.

However saying that, it doesn't necessarily have to be a teen character going through self harm or depression, after what Leah's been through I could quite see her character slipping into a depression perhaps? Just an idea...

Another storyline I'd love to see developing on Home and Away would be a teen pregnany ... not just a pregnany scare - Maybe Annie?

Scruffy did turn up again, though not sure where Martha got him from. It was when she got the farm, we saw him twice I think then he vanished again.

I think if the diabetes story line has been dealt with correctly, I'm sure most people who have it live with it quietly and would rather not have others keep reminding them about it all the time

H&A has done a good job (& some not so good jobs  ) at tackling difficult storylines.

For example, the cancer storylines, done beautifully by Belle & Flynn in particular.

Also domestic abuse, HIV, teenage pregnancies..

But what storyline would you like to see H&A tackle?

It can be an old one, but with now a days characters. :)

I proberly dont recall the storylines exactly. But I was always surprized at how Flynn was so against helping Floss end her life when she thought she was dying, but yet wanted to end his life when he was. Different writers maybe ?? But all in all, yes his storyline was done very well.
