Was watching the 'Early Years' on Channel 7 Two this morning (in Australia) ... and Alf's parents had sent Alf and Alisa a present from there overseas holiday that apparently they had been on for 4 months or so. So my question is did they die in later episodes or was the history rewritten later and they were revealed as deceased ??

They mentioned Deborah the other day too. I wonder why they have never cast her onscreen

Then Alf came home to find Frank and Roo with their shoes off. They weren't naked. They weren't even half naked. They were only missing their shoes (or perhaps I'm missing something) .....

Alf then caught fire....

I think it's a case of them being alive in the early episodes(I think Celia goes to visit them at one point, after it was announced they weren't coming back to Summer Bay)and dead later on but we don't know exactly when it happened.Obviously after 1989 or whenever it was they were last mentioned as alive. Certainly by 2003 at the latest Alf's father was being referred to in the past tense.

Looking at it, nothing is actually revealed about Deborah, which was slighty disappointing. Was she still alive, etc? Would love it if she just randomnly turns up some time though.

Yeh. Think she was mentioned the other day by Cecila actually. I recall what I thought was a glaring oversite in the 4000th episode when Alf said 'only one thing would make the birthday complete' and then in walked Barbara. How good it would have been to maybe have him say 'two things' and then Deborah was a one of appearence with some one really famous playing her.

Up until today I always thought Alf's parents were long deceased. Just made me think where was he with the whole saga about the Stewarts not discovering the Bay (or whatever it was) and then I thought where was he when Colleen found out he was her father etc. So I sort of assummed that he was long dead. Just dont recall anything about it all.

Same as Pippa's brother being in it this week. Didnt even know she had one !!

Given that Celia only mentioned Deborah whilst reminiscing of childhood, it could be safe to assume that she died at a fairly early age, years before the show began. Either that or maybe she fell out with her family and they disowned her :P

It was mentioned in Episode 139 that Alf's parents had decided to settle in Tahiti, and his dad was still alive in 1990. As RR1 mentioned, we know Gordon was dead by 2003 as Morag referred to the Alzheimers that he had suffered with.

Yeah, it is quite a bizarre week in terms of numerous things that were quite close to original characters and sets being brought up, and then rarely, if ever brought up again, to the point where you wonder if people realise they exist.
