Do You Consider H&A A Soap Opera?

I think whatever H&A is, there was a definite change one year. I remember the TV announcer saying 'Home and Away looks a bit different today'. And yes! They had changed the film style so it looked more like a movie, and the acting stepped up considerably at the same time.

I wish I could remember what year it was, but it was when Hayley (Bec) was going out with Noah, and they lived together. I particularly noticed that Hayley had been a smiley, happy go lucky type, she really used to annoy me. But then suddenly she became more moody and realistic. Instead of a perfect unrealistic relationship with Noah, they started having problems and arguments.

Anyone know when this change in filming/ acting took place? It was like the producers/ directors suddenly decided to make a change to a realistic storyline from one where everyone was happy and smiley, forgetting problems and deaths in a moment.

That would have to be in 2003 when they began filming in HD
