Margaret is driving Kierain to Hobart.

Kierain: Where are we going?!?

Margaret: To Hobart.

Kierain: But that’s forever away!

*Margaret ignores him and gets on a boat to Hobart*

(When they arrive in Hobart, Margaret takes Kierain to her old house.)

Kierain: I miss Bette.

Margaret: Shut up!

Kierain: I want to go home. *cries*

*Margaret places Kierain onto a chair*

Margaret: You stay there and don’t move! *leaves*

*Kierain continues to cry*

(Back at Bette’s house, she has managed to regain consciousness and goes over to the phone.)

Janet: Summer Bay Police, this is Constable Walsh speaking.

Bette: Yes, I’d like to report a kidnapping.

Janet: Who was kidnapped Miss Midler?

Bette: Kierain. The person who took him was Margaret Lynch.

Janet: Right. We’ll investigate it.

*Bette hangs up the phone with a worried look on her face.*

A few hours later, Kierain is on the floor as Margaret reads a magazine when Tasmanian police storm the house.

Officer 1: This is a raid!

Officer 2: I suggest you let him go!

*Margaret grabs Kierain and holds him*

Margaret: No! I love him like a son! I don’t want to lose him!

Officer 1: This can be peaceful, so make your choice.

Kierain: Please help me officers!

*The officers decide to pry Margaret off Kierain*

Margaret: NO! *wails*

Officer 2: Come on mate. It’s going to be okay.

Kierain: Thank you.

*Margaret is soon arrested*

Margaret: *wailing* I just wanted a family! That’s ALL I wanted!

*The police drive Margaret away*

(At Bette’s, Kierain is soon reunited with her.)

Kierain: I’m so glad to be back home.

Bette: Come here honey. You can sleep with me tonight.

*Kierain starts to cry as Bette hugs him*

The following Monday, Grant Mitchell arrives at Summer Bay High.

Lois: Excuse me?

Grant: Oh hello, I’m looking for a Donald Fisher.

Lois: And you are?

Grant: Grant Mitchell, the new History teacher.

Lois: Oh, I see. Mrs Peters?

Doris: Yes Miss Crawford?

Lois: Page Mr Fisher.

Doris: Sure dear. *pages Mr Fisher*

*Grant sits down on a seat*

(Near the lockers, Heather is talking Tracey Bright when the Year 11 bitch Holly Regan approaches them.)

Holly: Bright Light!

*Holly storms away*

(At Number 26, Beverly is trying a trust exercise with Kierain falling into her arms.)

Bev: Trust me.

Kierain: Is there a point to this?

Bev: It's to help you reinforce trust.

*Kierain falls straight into Bev's arms*

*Kierain starts to cry*

*Bev continues to hug a sobbing Kierain*

(Todd is discussing recent events with Jim.)

Todd: Kierain got snatched by some crazy lady.

(Grant is in the staff room.)

Grant: Ah.

*Speaking of Holly, she is gushing about Grant to her non-interested peers*

*Glenda Williams and Viv start laughing*

*Holly runs away in tears*

At Number 26, the men are furious about what happened.

Joe: So, what happened to him?

Jim: A crazy woman snatched him.

*Joe can be heard losing it in the kitchen*

*This sets Ryan off*

*Dorothy picks Kierain up*

Dorothy: You'll be okay, Geaney. I assure you. *looks at Kierain sympathetically*

(Later that morning, Eve and John Barrow are at the general store.)

Eve: Hello?

John: Anyone here?

Martin: Good one Lance they heard us!

Lance: Rack off Marty! *storms off*

Eve: Can I help you, Dribble? *looks annoyed at Martin*

Martin: Yeah! I want a job!

Eve: Sorry, we don't hire bozos here!

*Lauren enters the store*

(At Number 26, Kierain is leaning on Bev as she watches TV in her room.)

Kierain: I wonder when Bette's coming back.

Kierain: Where were you?

Bette: I went to the store, but on my way I heard on the radio that Margaret has been committed to a psychiatric ward in Tasmania.

*Kierain looks at Bev for an explanation*

Bev: It means she can't go anywhere near you anymore.

Kierain: Bette?

Bette: Yes honey?

Kierain: Are you going away on tour?

Bette: Not until November. Why do you ask honey? *smiles*

Kierain: I want my families with me.

Bette: Come here precious.

*Bev and Bette both hug Kierain*

At the diner that afternoon, Sarah is talking to Kimberley about Amelia.

Sarah: I want her to have a party.

Kimberley: What sort of party? I could ask one of my contacts for a venue.

Sarah: A girl party.

Kimberley: You could always have the party at your house. I'm sure Amelia would like that. *smiles*

Sarah: Thanks.

(Kierain has fallen asleep, leaning back on Bev.)

*Bev strokes Kierain's hair*

*Kierain wakes and looks up at her*

Bev: She won't hurt you anymore.

Kierain: How did you know how to look after me?

Bev: Years of looking after patients my love. *smiles*

Bev: Of course not.

*Kierain bursts out crying*

*Bev continues rocking Kierain as he cries*

(At Summer Bay High, Alice and Viv are laughing about Grant's Year 11 Ancient History class.)

Viv: He’s SO funny!

Alice: I know. He's a really great teacher.

*Glenda Williams approaches them*

Glenda: Can I sit with you guys?

Viv: Sure why not.

*Glenda sits with them*

Glenda: Remember Mrs Wood?

Viv: What a dummy!

Alice: Don't tell me she's coming back here!

Glenda: No. I found out from Rhonda that she's suing the school for discrimination and having an unsafe work environment.

Viv: Why?

Glenda: Beats me. I reckon she's doing it to cause trouble.

*The Mahoney twins approach the girls*

Val: Hey.

Tara: Brooke's been expelled. She got caught bringing grog.

(At Number 26, Kierain has fallen back to sleep as Bev watches E Street.)

Bev: *thinking to herself* He's so cute when he sleeps.

*Kierain coughs in his sleep*

*Bev tickles Kierain*

Kierain: No Marge! Stop it!

Bev: It's Bev love.

*Kierain wakes and begins to cry again*

*Bev hugs him tight*

*In the lounge room, Helen worries.*

Helen: Poor thing.

Todd: Kez is really starting to worry me, Helen.

Helen: Why Todd?

Todd: He’s so scared.

Helen: As long as you don't mind Bev being with him.

Todd: He needs her now.

*Jim enters*

Jim: How is he?

Helen: Frightened.

Jim: Poor guy.

Todd: Hope he'll be okay.

In Tasmania, Margaret paces.

Margaret: I want him!

*Mary Croft walks over*

Mary: Who?

*Margaret continues pacing*

Margaret: It's not fair!

Mary: Okay.

(At Number 26, Bev counsels Kierain.)

Bev: Tell me from the beginning.

*Kierain goes quiet*

Bev: You can tell me.

*Bev strokes him and continues coaxing him*

Bev: You can do it.

Flashback to Margaret forcing him into her cabin on the boat.

Kierain: I want to go home. *cries*

*Margaret places Kierain onto a chair*

Margaret: You stay there and don’t move! *leaves*

*Margaret returns later*

Margaret: Get on the floor.

*Kierain does so*

Margaret: Now whine.

*Margaret holds his hands behind his back*

Margaret: Try moving now!

*the boat starts*

Margaret: Off to Hobart we go. *smiles*

*Kierain tries kicking, but his thongs go flying across the room*

*the flashback freezes and Kierain goes quiet*

Bev: Trust me. I won’t say anything.

Flashback on the boat. Margaret hears the door knock and grabs Kierain.

Margaret: You stay quiet.

*Margaret opens the closet*

Margaret: You will go in there.

Kierain: No!

*Margaret locks him in there before opening the door*

Margaret: Yes?

Man: What are you doing in here?

Margaret: Breathing, now leave me alone!

*Margaret slams the door in his face and then opens the closet*

Margaret: You can come out now.

*Margaret grabs him*

Margaret: You do what I say!

*Kierain flops against her*

Margaret: Little brat! *slaps Kierain*

Margaret: I like that.

V/O: The dinner cart is open.

Margaret: Din din!

*As Margaret is taking him for dinner, she gives him her conditions.*

Margaret: You just eat your dinner and enjoy yourself!

*flashback freeze*

Kierain: Bev? what are you writing?

Bev: Everything that you've told me about.

When Selina returns home from school, Irene waits for her with a furious stare.

Selina: Hi.

Irene: I just got a call from the principal! What in God's name have you been doing?!?

Selina: Nothing!

Irene: Oh really? Well, I got told that you pushed a Year 5 student into the girls bathroom sink!

*Selina looks guilty*

Selina: Okay, I did it.

Irene: Why?

Selina: Felt like it.

Irene: That's it! You're grounded for a week! Get upstairs!

Selina: Don't worry. I'm going back to live with Mum. I spoke with the welfare lady today!

*Selina storms away*

(At Number 32, Bev is slightly annoyed at being called over for a minor cut on Toby.)

Bev: You could’ve at least had band-aids!

Kerry: *fed up* We had none, okay!

Joe: Kez don't! Did we interrupt something?

Bev: I was counselling Kierain.

Joe: Sorry doc.

*Kerry feels bad*

Toby: Mum?

Kerry: Oh, it's okay Toby.

Toby: Dad what's going on?

*Joe explains it to Toby in a way he'll understand*

Joe: Kierain is having problems at the moment, Tobes.

Toby: Why?

Joe: It's rather personal, I'm afraid.

*Bev returns and sits on her bed before patting her leg.*

Bev: Come love.

*Kierain sits back in her arms*

Bev: Tell me the final part.

Kierain: I can’t.

*Bev coaxes*

Flashback to the boat arriving

Margaret: We're here.

*Margaret grabs him*

*Margaret puts a gun in his back*

*Margaret opens the boot*

Margaret: Inside.

*Kierain moves around*

*Margaret puts him in and smiles evilly*

(Cut to her driving)

*Kierain kicks at the boot*

Margaret: Out! *picks Kierain up*

(Cut to her turning into her street)

*Trainers run out to him and help him up*

Rex: Ladies and Gentlemen the Lassiters Scoreboard reads Summer Bay 2.2.14 and North Adelaide yet to score at the first break

HE’S DONE IT AGAIN!

Bev: he’s killing himself!

*15 minutes later and it’s half time*

Jim: is he seriously playing on through this?

Bev: he said something about being bullied maybe he’s trying to push through the emotional and physical hurt

*the game starts again*

Rex: Summer Bay are 10.5.65 North Adelaide 9.5. 59 on the Lassiters scoreboard as we start the third quarter at Waverley Park Geaney has thrown up again he is REALLY crook! Sims, sims, SIMS FOR GOAL A SENSATIONAL KICK SCORES LEVEL BETWEEN THE TWO WBL LEAGUES! Ball bounced again won by Wilson across to McGuane over the top to Archer Archer can run he has loads of free space unselfishly to Scott Russell RUSSELL SCORES! AND THE PIES ARE IN FRONT!

*25 minutes later it’s 3 Quarter Time*

Rex: 3 Quarter Time at Waverley Park and the Lassiters Hotel scoreboard reads Summer Bay 11.11.77 North Adelaide 10.7.67 Geaney still looks sick out there

*the game starts up again*

Rex: Here we go the last quarter of the 1989 Lassiters Cup Starcevich to Wright to Wilson who runs to the goal FIRST BLOOD TO SUMMER BAY

*30 minutes later we have 5 seconds left**

Rex: Kierain Geaney he’s as tough as nails this boy! SIREN! Summer Bay win by 2 points!

Paul: ladies and gentlemen well what a magnificent performance by Summer Bay they played hard and fast and it’s time for the Most Courageous Player award for 1989 to be presented by Gaby Willis

*Gaby goes up to the stand*

Gaby: the MCP award for 1989 goes to Number 42 of Summer Bay Kierain Geaney!

*the crowd go crazy Kierain is drinking water*

Gaby: Kezzy? I think he’s busy

*a bloodied and sore Kierain goes to the stand to get his medal*

Kierain: commiserations to North Adelaide they are a great side in the SANWBL but I guess we were stronger I think I’ll go find Sims later and give him another one! *laughs*but seriously the South Aussies are really hard and I look forward to the 1990 match thanks to all who supported us and let it be known that I am no coward from here on in *the crowd cheer as Kierain leaves the stand and he and the team are presented with the medallions and cup*

Chris: Excuse me but my nephew is trying to rest!

Chris: I'm sorry but i'm really protective

Chris: is it okay to take Kierain with me to Mt Thomas?

*At No.26 later Helen is worried about Kierain*

When Kierain leaves the hospital later that day, he and Chris immediately set off for Mount Thomas.

Kierain: Where will I be staying?

Chris: At the Imperial of course. *smiles*

Kierain: In your room?

Chris: Yes my love. I’m sure you can’t wait to make new friends.

Kierain: I sure can’t wait, Aunty Chris. *smiles*

*They arrive at the Imperial Hotel*

Kierain: This sure is a nice place.

Chris: Will you be okay while I run the bar?

Kierain: Are you sure you can fit me inside the bar?

Chris: I sure can love.

*Chris wheels Kierain inside the bar*

Woman: Are you sure he won’t knock anything over?

Chris: I’m positive, Mrs White.

Kierain: Is that your grandma, Chris?

Chris: No. Love, I’d like you to meet Lynda Darcy. She’s a grandmother figure to the Mount Thomas locals.

*Kierain looks tense as Lynda opens her arms*

Lynda: Why is he like that?

*Chris goes onto explain Kierain’s background to Lynda*

(Over at the Mount Thomas police station, Tom Croydon is having a meeting with his colleagues, PJ Hasham, Nick Schultz, Wayne Patterson, Rose Egan, Adam Cooper and Maggie Doyle.)

Tom: This is the fifth break-in down at the Shell service station! Something has to be done.

Rose: What do you want us to do?

Tom: I want you and Hasham on patrol at that station at all times.

Wayne: What about the rest of us sir?

Tom: I want you and Doyle to create a computer-enhanced image of the offender. That leaves Cooper and Schultz to question more witnesses about the incident.

*The officers resume their duties*

That night, Chris is hosting an under-18’s disco when her and Kierain are working the bar.

(When the disco is over, Chris is hugging Kierain in her bedroom.)

Chris: Glad you made new friends possum?

Kierain: Sure have, Aunty Chris.

Chris: Would you like to sleep next to me tonight?

Kierain: Sure.

Chris: I’ll leave the lamps on.

*Chris turns off the big light and turns on the lamps before putting herself and Kierain to bed*

On Sunday, Selina is packing her bags. She is returning to live with her mother, who lives not too far from the Bay.

Irene: You know darl, I hope you have a smooth return.

Selina: What’s that?

Irene: I said I hope you have a smooth return once you get back to your mother’s house.

Selina: Sorry for causing you grief.

Irene: Oh love, you didn’t cause me any grief. I will miss you though.

*Selina and Irene hug*

Selina: Say goodbye to Fin and Damian for me. Tell them I’m sorry for being mean to them.

*Selina and Irene come out front yard and see Mrs Cook waiting for Selina*

*Rose slaps Maggie as Tom walks over to them*

*Maggie and Rose head into Tom’s office*

(At the Blaxland Mansion, Judy is stepping onto the scales into her second last week of her weight loss journey.)

Judy: I only lost 2.4kg this week.

Kimberley: Well, you have lost a considerable amount of weight. How much to you weigh now?

Judy: 61 kilos.

Kimberley: That’s good. I’ll tell you what? At the end of your weight loss journey, I could suggest to Jackie that we could throw you a celebration party for you at the diner.

Kierain is hanging out with his new Mount Thomas friends when someone tries to steal his walkman.

*The mugger tries to reef the walkman out of Kierain’s hands, but is tackled by Jonathan*

Jonathan: GET YOUR OWN WALKMAN YOU BLOODY THIEF!!!

*The mugger runs off as Evelyn and Jane comfort Kierain*

Evelyn: You okay, doll?

Kierain: I’m fine, Evelyn. God, that guy is such an idiot!

Jane: And to try and steal your walkman too. What a creep!

*Kierain shakes Jonathan’s hand*

Kierain: I’m glad to have loyal friends like you guys.

(Over at Belinda’s house, she is waiting for her new foster child, Melanie Black to arrive.)

Amy: So, what’s this Melanie chick like?

Belinda: She’s a handful. Do you guys remember when the Fletchers fostered Rachel Hansen earlier this year?

Taylor: Sure do. She was a bitch.

Belinda: Well, Melanie has a very similar personality like Rachel. So, we’re just going to have to be patient and gentle with her.

Belinda: I’ll introduce Melanie to Lewis once he arrives back from Mum’s.

*Miss Dohnal enters with a girl around 14-16 years-old*

Belinda: Hi Melanie. Welcome to our home.

Amy: Where are you from Melanie?

Melanie: I used to live in the city.

Belinda: In the room with Amy and Larni. Taylor and Lewis share a room as well.

Taylor: Lewis should be home later though. He’s coming back from Stacey’s soon.

Melanie: Well, I better go settle in. Can I have some space as I get organised please?

*Melanie heads into the bedroom and closes the door. As she puts one of her duffel bags onto the bed, she opens her handbag and pulls out a mixture of pills.*

Wayne: G'day Chris. How's your nephew settling in?

Wayne: I was thinking of introducing your nephew to Rose and Maggie. He needs some female companionship as well.

Chris: I dunno. He’s very funny with new people.

Wayne: If he can hang out with Jonathan and his mates, I'm sure he'll be able to bond with those ladies as well.

*Rose enters the Imperial*

Rose: Wayne? The lunches! The boss is getting ticked off.

Wayne: Oh right. *gets the lunches from Chris before leaving*

Chris: So, Rose. I heard you and Maggie had a bit of a communication breakdown today.

Chris: I've been working at the Imperial for two years now. I know everything Mount Thomas has to offer. What happened?

Rose: Well, Maggie and I both want PJ.

*Kierain wheels over to Chris, having come back from his outing with Jonathan, Jane and Evelyn*

*Bob Barnett catches Kierain smoking with Dodge*

*Kierain returns a few minutes later to see Evelyn*

At Summer Bay High, Rhonda holds a meeting with her fellow Year 12 peers during lunch break.

Rhonda: So, I’m thinking a Year 12 camp sounds good.

Rhonda: Nowra. Any other suggestions?

*A male student raises his hand*

At Summer Bay High the next day (Tuesday), Melanie is smoking in Science class. Unfortunately for her, Cody is asthmatic and the smoke causes him to have an asthma attack.

Cody: MISS...CAN'T BREATHE!

*Miss Dugan notices Cody and sees that his face is practically red*

Miss Dugan: STEVEN! Get the nurse!

*Steven gets the nurse. As he does, Melanie quickly dashes outside and feels really bad*

Donald: BLACK! You're excuse had better be a damn good one!

Melanie: I was on my way to the loo, sir.

Donald: Oh really? Can I see the permission note in your diary from Miss Dugan?

Melanie: I...um...left my diary in there.

*Steph approaches Donald as he is trying to get an answer from Melanie*

Steph: Mr Fisher?

Donald: Yes Miss Markham?

Steph: The Year 7’s are proving a handful for Miss Crawford. She needs help.

Later that morning, Cody is brought home by Kerry and Peter.

Kerry: I want you to go to your bedroom to rest and recover.

Peter: And use your puffer every 10 minutes to get the smoke away.

Cody: *still coughing* Okay.

*As Cody goes up to the bedroom he shares with Alex and Steven, he decides to go into the bedroom that Geri, Kellie and Misty share*

Cody: Time to throw away some bad habits. *coughs*

*Cody throws cigarettes that belong to Geri and Kellie out the window*

Cody: This is for your own good, girls.

*Cody then heads into his bedroom and lays on his bed, while breathing through his puffer*

(Meanwhile, Reiko is having a meeting with the producer of her talk show.)

Producer: So, what fine did you get?

Reiko: $900.

Producer: You are lucky that I’m still here to produce your show! After what you said about Darren Millane, you should be ashamed!

Reiko: I know. *wipes away a tear*

Producer: I’m staying, but if you ever pull a stunt like that again! I’ll be pulling the pin on your show for good! *leaves*

*Reiko continues to cry*

(At Alf and Ailsa’s, they are having a serious discussion.)

Ailsa: Alf, there’s something I have to discuss with you.

Alf: What is it, Ailse?

Ailsa: Do you remember how I told you about my former cellmate Margot Dean?

Alf: Yes, isn’t she the one that died of cancer?

Ailsa: That’s right. Well, I just got off the phone with her brother. Margot’s children, Blake and Karen are coming to live with us.

Alf: Are you right to take in those two? I mean look at what happened when we fostered Tiffany McDonald.

Ailsa: I will admit that was a disaster, but these kids are lovely. Will you give them a chance?
