*on Saturday night the teens are at Clarissa’s farewell at the diner*

Amy: Clarissa we will all miss you and I’m sure I speak for everyone when I say we wish you well in Erinsborough

Kierain: speech!

*Clarissa stands up*

Clarissa: I just want to say that I’ve enjoyed my time here in Summer Bay even though you are a bunch of Colliwobble fans but seriously though I love all my Summer Bay friends and I hope you all achieve what you want and Kierain it’s no shame that the bombers lost to a team where the winger played with a broken hand

Kierain: Clarissa we all know how much you like Terry Daniher so we got you this

Clarissa: oh what did you guys do?

Steven: come on in Terry!

*Terry enters*

Clarissa: NO WAY!

Terry: your friends tell me you’re a big fan

Clarissa: yes sir *blushes*

Terry: I got you a ticket to the 1990 AWBL season hopefully we’ll do better next year

*at 1:30am Bobby decides to call it a night*

Bobby: guys I’m sorry but it’s way past trading hours

Kierain: yeah I have a game tomorrow

*the next day Clarissa says goodbye to Tom and Lil*

Lil: we’ll miss you

Clarissa: I’ll miss you too

*Clarissa gets in a waiting cab which then drives away*

*Lucy is in the store talking to Nina and Judith*

Lucy: I LOVE this town

Judith: same here

Nina: I’m just sad to be leaving

Lucy: where are you going?

Nina: I was offered a job in Los Angeles

Lucy: why are you sad?

Nina: I’ll be leaving my cute boyfriend behind

Lucy: awww

Judith: I’m glad we’re all friends

*at Bette and Billy’s Kierain and Chrissy are watching the 1988 AWBL Grand Final in order to Analyze Erinsborough*

Kierain: if they play this bad today we even bother playing? *grins*

On Monday, Billy and Chrissy finally re-establish their bond.

Billy: So, why did you move to the Bay?

Chrissy: I wanted to be closer to Aunty Bette and Kierain.

Billy: What about me?

Chrissy: Of course Uncle Billy. I wanted to be closer to you as well.

Billy: That’s great.

Chrissy: I do love you Uncle Billy.

Billy: I love you too Chrissy.

*they hug*

(Meanwhile, Bette and Kierain explore why they connected.)

Kierain: Bette?

Bette: Yes darling.

Kierain: How did we become as close as we are today.

Bette: I guess it all started when we went to California for my concert.

(Flashback to Bette’s concert in California.)

*Kierain gets up on stage and plays the guitar Bette‘s own guitarist threw during a dummy spit*

That night, Bette, Kierain, Billy and Chrissy watch the local TEN Eyewitness News.

V/O: This is the TEN Eyewitness News with Tony Richards and Sasha Close.

Bette: I wonder what’s on the news tonight.

Kierain: Let’s wait and see.

Sasha: *on the TV* Good evening. Plans to merge Blakes Inlet High School with Summer Bay have been scrapped. The move comes after council members met late this afternoon to make a decision about the future of the derelict high school.

Kierain: About time they fixed up that school.

Chrissy: I agree.

Billy: I’m just glad that we’re living all in the one roof.

Bette: So am I.

Kierain: Guys?

Bette/Billy/Chrissy: Yes?

Kierain: We should go out to Pizza Hut tomorrow night as a family.

Chrissy: That sounds like a good idea Kez. Don’t you agree Aunty Bette and Uncle Billy?

Bette: I like that.

Billy: Me too. Let’s go to the one at Reefton Lakes.

Kierain: It’s date. Tomorrow night, dinner at Pizza Hut.

Everyone: YES!!!!

Bette: Would you like a hug darling?

*Kierain nods*

Bette: Come here. *gives Kierain a hug*

Billy: Hug Chrissy?

Chrissy: Sure Uncle Billy. *gives Billy a hug*

Kierain: Ah the hell with it. Group hug!

*Bette, Billy, Kierain and Chrissy all group hug*

The next day (Tuesday), Misty returns home from school to find another letter from Josh on the table.

Misty: Why did he send me that letter?!?

Judith: Open it and see.

Misty: He’s the one that said we should see other people.

Judith: Just open it Misty. *smiles*

Misty: Oh okay. *takes the letter and goes into her bedroom to read it*

To Misty,

I just want to say that just because we’re no longer an item, doesn’t mean we should stop being best friends. I’ll always love you Misty. You are such a caring soul and I’d hate for our friendship to go down the tube. I’m a computer whiz, while you’re the gorgeous angel.

That night, Bette and the clan are having dinner at Pizza Hut in Reefton Lakes.

Kid: Mum! Dad! It's it's......

Kid's mother: Who sweetie?

Kid: That guy who had the ball at the end of last year's grand final!

Kid's mother: Oh so it is.

*The kid approaches Kierain*

Kierain: Yes kid?

Kid: You're my hero! I wanna be just like you! Can I have last year's ball?

Kid's Dad: Arthur Read, you don't just ask for that. It's probably his mother's. *points at Bette*

Bette: Oh it's okay honey. He can have it.

Dora Winifred: HEY how come Arthur gets that but I couldn't go to Parental Guidance with her?

Mrs Read: DORA WINIFRED!!!!!

*Chrissy giggles*

D.W.: Arthur? Can I at least have the thumb plaster?

Arthur: Fine. *gives Dora the thumb plaster as they leave*

Billy: That was awkward.

Kierain: Ah don't worry Bette. I fully intend to be tossing the ball in the air at 5:11 on August 10 then you can have it.

*Billy looks jealous*

Billy: Do I get one?

Kierain: Of course but in 1990.

Billy: Okay. I'll wait until next year. *smiles*

The next day (Wednesday), Misty decides to take the day of from school. She is very depressed.

Judith: Misty? Something wrong hun?

Misty: I miss Josh.

Judith: I miss Bernadette, Melissa, Mary and Alison as well.

Misty: Who are they?

Judith: My friends from school.

Misty: When did you finish school?

Judith: Last year.

Misty: *sadly* Just wish Josh's family moved to Sydney.

Judith: I know hun. By the way, Josh sent you another letter. This one's got a care package too.

*Misty reads the letter out loud*

Misty: "Hey Misty. I got you some stuff. I wish you were here.

Take it easy

Josh."

Judith: Well go on. Open the package.

*Misty opens it to reveal a ticket to a One Direction concert*

Misty: Hey there's a note attached.

Judith: That's not just a note. These are backstage passes.

Misty: OMG!!! I'm going to call him right now! *dials Josh's mobile number on her iPhone* Joshy? How did you get those One Direction tickets?

Josh: My Dad knows the manager.

Misty: I swear newsagents go high places. Thanks bestie.

Josh: And guess who's going with you?

Misty: Who?

Josh: Only the hottest guy in Mildura.

Misty: How are you getting to Sydney bestie?

Josh: Dad said I could and bought my plane ticket.

Misty: When are you arriving?

Josh: Tomorrow.

Misty: *in tears* See you tomorrow bestie. *hangs up the phone*

(At Bette and Billy’s, he is taking Chrissy to Yogurtland.)

Billy: Will you be fine with Kierain?

Bette: Of course.

*After they leave, Bette enters Kierain's room*

Bette: Do you like this apartment?

Kierain: Yeah. Hey you dyed your hair blonde again.

Bette: I love being a blonde.

Kierain: Bette?

Bette: Yes honey?

Kierain: Tell me the story of how we met in 1986.

Flashback to Bette working as a Salvation Army volunteer she sees Kierain (then 16) alone.

Bette: Excuse me? Have you been crying?

Kierain: Yeah.

Bette: What's wrong?

Kierain: my mother left me here.

*memory of Pippa opening the car door*

Pippa: GET OUT YOU WORTHLESS LOSER!!!

*Bette wraps her arms around him*

Kierain: Wait a sec. Are you Bette Midler?

Bette: Yes.

Kierain: *in thought* Maybe she wants to love me.

Bette: *in thought* Maybe he wants to be loved.

(end flashback)

Bette looks down and sees Kierain asleep on her

Bette: Sleep tight honey.

On Thursday afternoon, Misty leaves school after lunch to go and meet up with Josh.

*Misty, Jasmine and Ann wait at the bus stop for him.*

Jasmine: I thought he was catching a plane.

Misty: He is, but he’s coming to the Bay via coach.

Jasmine: Neat!

Ann: You are SO lucky that you’re going to meet One Direction backstage! That’s always been my dream.

Misty: Do I detect jealousy Ann?

Ann: I guess you could say that. *smiles*

*Misty’s iPhone goes off*

Misty: Looks like I got a text from the bestie. *opens the message* “Just arrived in Yabbie Creek.”

Ann/Jasmine: Oooh!

Misty: Oh girls! *blushes*

Ann: I bet Lee’s disappointed that he’s not seeing Josh.

Misty: Not really. Josh is staying over at his place.

Jasmine: I thought he’d crash with you and Judith.

Misty: He wanted to stay with Lee. *smiles*

Jasmine: That’s okay then.

*The girls see the coach pull up*

Misty: Girls! I think he’s on this one.

Ann: Can’t wait to meet him. Hope he’s nice.

Jasmine: Same.

*Josh gets off the bus carrying a light blue sports bag*

Misty: *calling out* JOSHY!!!!

Josh: Misty! *waves at Misty*

*Misty runs over to Josh and gives him a huge hug*

Misty: I’ve missed you so much.

Josh: I’ve missed you as well.

Misty: Josh, I’d like you to meet my friends Jasmine Meyer and Ann Higgins.

Ann/Jasmine: Hey.

Josh: Hey ladies. *shakes their hand as well as giving them a kiss on the cheek*

Misty: Got your ticket for tomorrow night?

Josh: I sure do. Have you?

Misty: Of course.

*Josh hugs Misty*

Ann: Let’s go to the diner and have milkshakes.

Jasmine: That sounds great.

Misty/Josh: Good idea.

*they walk to the diner*

(That night, Bette and Billy have gone out to dinner so Chrissy is taking care of Kierain.)

Chrissy: What did you get up to today?

Kierain: Just went and seen the siblings. They’re doing well.

Chrissy: That’s great. Just hope Tom and the little brat weren’t home.

Kierain: They weren’t. So, that was a bonus.

Chrissy: Are you glad that you’re living with me, Aunty Bette and Uncle Billy?

Kierain: Better than living with GRAN!!!!

Chrissy: What about your Nan and Aunty Adriana?

Kierain: They’re cool. But Gran! NO WAY!!!

Chrissy: What’s your Gran been doing to you?

*Kierain explains everything to Chrissy*

Chrissy: WHAT?!?

Kierain: That’s right.

Chrissy: What a horrible woman! At least you’ve got me, Aunty Bette, Uncle Billy, your Nan and everyone else that care about you.

Kierain: Thanks.

The following night (Friday), Josh and Misty are on the train to the city, heading to the One Direction concert.

Misty: I can’t wait for tonight!

Josh: Anything for my bestie. *smiles*

V/O: The next station is Central.

Misty: Is that our stop?

Josh: Yes.

*When the train stops at Central railway station, Josh and Misty get off*

Misty: Can I ask you something Josh?

Josh: Yes Misty.

Misty: Have you been to Sydney before?

Josh: Yeah I have. The olds took me and my younger brother about two years ago.

Misty: I hear you’re really good at computers.

Josh: I’m a computer whiz. I even fixed Sheila Keller’s iPad.

Misty: Who’s Sheila Keller?

Josh: She goes to Mildura High with me. She’s in Year 10 this year.

Misty: A year above you.

Josh: That’s right.

Misty: I’m just glad that we’re spending time together.

Josh: So am I.

*Josh puts his arm around Misty*

(At 7:30pm, Josh and Misty arrive at Sydney Super Dome to see One Direction perform.)

Misty: So, when do we go backstage and meet One Direction?

Josh: When the concert finishes.

Misty: Awesome! And we’re in the front row as well!

*A few minutes later, the band members of One Direction appear on the stage*

The next morning (Saturday), a woman aged between 20-30 is moving into a two bedroom house next door to Belinda. Her name is Sarah Latana.

*Belinda sees Sarah get out of her car (a white Ford Laser)*

Belinda: Hello. Did you just move into this house?

Sarah: Oh yes. I moved here from the city.

Belinda: That’s nice. So, where are you from?

Sarah: I was born in New Zealand, but I’ve lived in Sydney since I was 14.

Belinda: Cool! I’m a Kiwi too! Belinda Macklin.

Sarah: Sarah Latana. *shakes Belinda’s hand*

Belinda: Pleasure to meet you. So, why did you move here?

Sarah: I wanted a place of my own. You live alone Belinda?

Belinda: No. I live with my four foster kids.

Sarah: What are their names?

Belinda: Larni, Taylor, Amy and Lewis.

Sarah: Awesome! Well, I better unpack. Come in for a cuppa later this arvo. It was nice to meet you Belinda.

Belinda: Likewise Sarah. See you this afternoon.

*Sarah heads back into the house*

(At Judith’s house, she has invited Lucy over while Misty has gone out with her friends.)

Judith: What’s Pleasantview like?

Lucy: Oh it’s a peaceful town. Everyone knows everyone.

Judith: Just like this town.

Lucy: I see. Well, I don’t know how I’m going to get to my new TAFE on Monday.

Judith: You go to TAFE?

Lucy: Yeah I do. I’m doing Certificate III in Children’s Services. I was doing it at Pleasantview TAFE before I came here.

Judith: Yabbie Creek’s only about 10 minutes from here.

Lucy: So, it’s not far?

Judith: No.

Lucy: Fliss tells me you took in a homeless girl. Where is she?

Judith: Misty went out with her friends. They’re probably at the youth centre.

Lucy: I plan on becoming a social worker as soon as I complete my Cert III at TAFE.

Judith: How long have you got to go?

Lucy: I’ve only got this year and then I’m finished.

Judith: That’s great. *smiles*

Lucy: I can’t wait to become a social worker.

Judith: I’m sure you’ll be a great social worker.

Lucy: Thanks Judith. *smiles*

At the Bridgewater Apartments, Adriana is visiting Kierain.

Adriana: How is my baby?

Kierain: Good. I miss you and Nan though.

Adriana: And we miss you too. We’re just glad you’re happy with Bette, Billy and Chrissy.

Kierain: How’s the mean lady?

Adriana: Didn’t you hear?

Kierain: Didn’t I hear what?

Adriana: Mum and I bought the house from under your Gran and she’s moved out!

Kierain: Good one Adri!

Adriana: I know right.

*they high-five*

Adriana: Your Nan and I do love you.

Kierain: And I love you and Nan too.

Adriana: Would you like a hug?

*Kierain nods*

Adriana: Okay. *gives Kierain a hug*

Kierain: I love you Adri.

Adriana: Love you too my baby.

(At the diner, Josh, Misty, Ann and Lee are sitting in a booth drinking milkshakes when Lynn walks in with Michelle Masters.)

Lynn: Michelle, I’d like you to meet the great Josh Anderson. He’s down here for the weekend.

Michelle: It’s SUCH an honour to meet you at last Josh. Misty and Lynn have told me so much about you. *shakes Josh’s hand*

Josh: Oh thanks Michelle. You’re looking pretty good yourself.

*Michelle blushes*

Misty: So, where are you staying tonight Michelle?

Michelle: At Lynn’s house. Don’t know where I’m going to sleep since she has SO many siblings!

Lynn: I’ll squeeze you in somewhere bestie. *smiles*

Lee: Did you forget to introduce Michelle to Ann?

Lynn: Oh! I’m sorry. Michelle, this is Ann Higgins. She’s one of Misty’s new besties.

Ann: Hello Michelle.

Michelle: Nice to meet you Ann.

Ann: Same here.

Lee: I have to go guys.

Lynn: Already?

Lee: I’ve…got a lot of chores that need to get done. *laughs weakly* I’ll see you all later. *walks off*

Josh: That was strange.

Misty: Did something happen between you and Lee, Joshy?

Josh: Of course not. But he’s been acting strangely around me all morning. I accept him being gay and that, but I’m worried that he’s worried I’m just pretending to accept it.

Ann: And are you?

Josh: Of course not. I accept that Lee’s gay 110%.

Michelle: That’s good to hear Josh.

Josh: I can’t believe I’m going home tomorrow.

Michelle: Me too.

Josh: What time are you leaving?

Michelle: 2:30pm.

Josh: Damn! I’m leaving at 10:00am.

Lynn: Why so early?

Josh: My plane leaves at noon.

Lynn: Right.

Misty: I’ll miss you bestie.

Josh: I’ll miss you too Misty. *hugs Misty*

Ann/Lynn/Michelle: Aww! Too cute!

Misty: Girls. *smiles*

(That afternoon, Belinda and Sarah are having coffee at Sarah’s new house.)

Belinda: Have you got a job?

Sarah: I’m a nurse. How about you?

Belinda: I’m a teacher at the local high school.

Sarah: Interesting. What subject?

Belinda: I’m a visual arts teacher.

Sarah: Are you a good artist?

Belinda: Yes. Are you into drawing and painting?

Sarah: Yes. But I’m more of a cooking person. I love having late-night meals.

Belinda: What’s your favourite thing to cook?

Sarah: This thing called batter fillet. I cook it Islander style.

Belinda: Will you teach me how to cook it?

Sarah: Oh absolutely.

Belinda: I’m just glad you’ve made a friend.

Sarah: Me too. *smiles*

*Belinda smiles back*

At Alf and Ailsa’s, Tiffany decides to spread lies in the hope that Alf and Ailsa start having problems in their marriage.

Tiffany: You know how Ailsa wouldn’t let you buy that new car?

Alf: Yes.

Tiffany: She told me that she didn’t want you to have it because she hated it!

Alf: SHE WHAT?!?

*Tiffany nods*

Alf: Well that does it! I’ve had enough of her insults! *storms off to find Ailsa*

*Ailsa walks in with the groceries*

Ailsa: Hi love. Where’s Alf?

Tiffany: Who cares?

Ailsa: Is something wrong Tiffany?

Tiffany: You know how you told me that you and Alf had a massive fight last Christmas?

Ailsa: *bitterly* Unfortunately yes. Why?

Tiffany: He said that it was all your fault because your turkey was dry.

Ailsa: IS THAT RIGHT?!? WELL, I’VE HAD IT WITH HIS MACHO BEHAVIOUR?!? *storms into the kitchen* ALF!!!

Alf: AH! THERE YOU ARE! WHY DID YOU LIE ABOUT THE CAR I WANTED TO BUY! IT WASN’T BECAUSE YOU COULDN’T AFFORD IT, IT WAS BECAUSE YOU HATED IT!!!

Ailsa: WHAT?!?

Alf: THAT’S RIGHT!!!

Ailsa: DON’T BE STUPID ALF!!! I NEVER SAID THAT!!! ANYWAY, WHO ARE YOU TO TALK?!?

Alf: WHAT ARE YOU FLAMING TALKING ABOUT?!?

Ailsa: BLAMING ME FOR THE BIG ARGUMENT WE HAD LAST CHRISTMAS?!? YOU STARTED IT, NOT ME!!!

Alf: OH GARBAGE!!!!

Josh: Lee mate?

(At the Midler household, Kierain has just woken up. Billy and Chrissy went to the baseball.)

*Bette walks in*

Bette: Did you just wake up honey? *looks at her watch and sees that it's 10:30pm*

On Tuesday, Coral D pays Beryl a visit.

Coral D: Oh Beryl.

Coral D: Can you do me a favour?

Coral D: Can you take me to the hospital to see Kierain?

Beryl: Sure. Get in.

*Coral D gets into the car and Beryl drives her to the hospital*

Coral D: Here we are. Thanks Beryl.

*Beryl and Coral D enter Kierain’s hospital room*

Kierain: Hi Beryl. *to Coral D* What are YOU doing here Gran?!?

*Bette enters and goes off her head*

*As Lil picks up the piece of her broken pot plant, she sees a taxi approach the caravan park. Helen Daniels gets out of the taxi with two suitcases.*

Lil: Good afternoon. Welcome to the Summer Bay Caravan Park. Are you here to rent a van?

Helen: Yes I am.

Lil: Wait a minute! I know who you are! You’re Kierain’s surrogate Gran aren’t you?

Helen: That’s right. Helen Daniels.

Lil: Lillian Stokes. It’s so nice to meet you. *shakes Helen’s hand*

At the Bridgewater Apartments that night, Billy and Chrissy are having dinner with Darren and Denise.

Billy: I have to say Chrissy, it was better than those pies the whole Collingwood team served at their last game.

*This sets Darren off*

*Darren calms down*

Bette: You’re surrogate Gran is visiting tomorrow.

Bette: She took a coach and taxi.

The next morning (Wednesday), Helen visits Kierain in the hospital.

Helen: Darling!

Kierain: Aye Mrs D you working hard or hardly working?

Helen: Working hard darling. Now, where's my hug? *smiles*

*Kierain hugs her*

Kierain: Oooh! Shouldn't have moved!

Helen: Take it easy darling. By the way, Todd and Katie say hello. As do Melissa and Cody.

Kierain: What's all this Cody's telling me about Todd dumping her?! *does NOT look amused*

Helen: Things weren't working out for them darling. And what's been going on with your Gran, Beatrice and Tom? Lil and Bette tell me they've been nasty to you.

Kierain: Who do you wanna hear about first?

Kierain: Tom doesn’t give two craps where I end up, Bea is a betrayal artist and Gran? Well she's jealous.

(At Sarah's house, her niece Amelia Kupu is moving in.)

At Summer Bay High, Rhonda decides to sit with Misty, Jasmine and Ann at lunch time.

Hilary: Well, I've had a change of heart! I'm looking forward to seeing Kierain.

Todd: Just hope Melissa and Cody are okay.

*Judy turns the radio on*

Eddie McGuire: And this is the news at 4. Summer Bay Champ Kierain Geaney broke down today as he hit back at comments made about the late Nick Poulous. The Summer Bay ruckman died in October after a fall from a cliff. We now bring you what Kierain said.

*Judy gets MAD!*

Judy: WHO WOULD SAY THAT?!? I BET IT WAS THAT TIFFANY MCDONALD BITCH!!!

Kierain: Nick Poulous was a great player and a great bloke off the field. The fondest memory I have is in last year's drought breaking Grand Final where he passed me the ball moments before I threw it in the air at the siren to signal that at last we were premiers again. *breaking down* I'd like to thank the Summer Bay fans for all the letters and cards, as fans and players if you don't get inspiration from what his name means then......I don't want you around our club anymore.
