On Tuesday morning, it‘s the first day back at school for the new year. At the Wong’s house, Nicole is rather nervous because it’s her first day of being a Year 7 student.

Nicole: I’m just nervous about high school Mum. Why isn’t Mary going?

Mary: I’ve already finished high school. *smiles*

That night, Bernadette is having her 18^th birthday at the Haven Hotel, a local pub in the city. The guests invited are Mary, Judith, the Fletcher kids, Karen Fischer, Nina, Kierain, Dawn, Alice and Tiago, Michelle and Micki, Sharni and Bernadette‘s cousin Kaitlyn Carter.

Bernadette: Thanks for coming.

Party guests: Your welcome.

Kaitlyn: So, what’s happening after the party?

Bernadette: We’ll be going back to my place to open the presents and maybe have a few drinks. *smiles*

At Coral D‘s place, Kierain is spending time with Bette.

Kierain: I love you Bette.

Bette: Guess what? I got a call today.

Kierain: From who?

Bette: My new agent Amanda O’Neill. I’m going to have my own TV show!

Kierain: BETTE THAT’S GREAT!!! *gives Bette a hug*

Bette: Filming starts in two weeks.

Kierain: What’s the show called?

Bette: Bette.

Kierain: Named after you! Oh how sweet.

Bette: Would you like a hug?

(When school is over, Liz and Geri are hugging each other)

Geri: I’ve missed you.

Liz: Mangrove River isn’t the same without you Geri.

Geri: I had to come here, but I made some friends so it’s all good. Still at school?

Liz: Nah. Not going back. I’m doing a TAFE course instead.

Geri: Studying what?

Liz: Commercial cookery.

Geri: Cool.

*They walk outside*

Geri: So, what brings you to Summer Bay?

Liz: Dad’s in the slammer.

Geri: For how long?

Liz: 7 years. Armed robbery. I’m officially an orphan now.

Geri: What about the house?

Liz: The welfare people kicked us out. So, now I’m a drifter.

Geri: Come live with me.

Liz: Are you sure?

*Geri nods*

Liz: Thanks Geri. *gives Geri a hug*

*at the Wong house Mary is talking to Lauren*

Mary: yeah I get it but just keep Nikki out of trouble

*Mary and Lauren smile*

*At Judith’s she is letting some backpackers move in they are best friends Talon and Corin from France and also Diana and Vince from Scotland*
Judith*talking Loudly*: YOU PAY RENT! MONEY ONCE A FORTNIGHT TO ME YES?
Vince: Aye Lass no need to scream your wee lungs out
Diana: Aye we speak English
Judith: what about those guys? *points at Talon and Corin*

As the fire quickly spreads, Ophelia is trying to get free.

Ophelia: LET ME OUT!!! SAVE ME!!!!

*However, the flames are too powerful and she lets out a huge scream*

Ophelia: SAVE MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!
(The next morning [sunday], Ailsa arrives to find fire crews and constable Janet Walsh at the now burnt-out diner)

Ailsa: What on earth happened?

Janet: Your diner has been deliberately lit and the person who did it has been found dead.

Ailsa: Have you identified her?

Janet: Yes. It’s Ophelia Nigmos.

*Ailsa collapses in shock*

Ailsa: That poor girl.

At the Fletcher house, Lil has made a decision about Sally going to Wentworth.

Lil: You are going to Wentworth’s scared straight program.

Sally: Wentworth is a PRISON!!!!

Lil: YOU’LL GO THERE UNTIL YOU LEARN HOW TO BEHAVE!!!

*Sally storms off as Tom walks downstairs*

Tom: What’s with her?

Lil: I just told her about the scared straight program.

Tom: It’ll do her the world of good. *smiles*

Lil: You are in a good mood today Mr Tom.

Tom: I sure am Lillian.

*they kiss*

(Meanwhile, Amy is at the beach when Leanne and Geri approach her)

Geri: YOU THINK LIZ IS UGLY DO YOU?!?

Amy: Yes!

Leanne: IS THAT RIGHT?!? *punches Amy in the face* GET THE SAND GERI!!!
*Geri throws sand in Amy’s face*

At Coral D‘s house later that afternoon, Bea finally talks to her mother, but the atmosphere is tense.

Bea: So…how are you?

Coral D: Well. You?

Bea: Great. How’s Kierain?

Coral D: With Bette!

Bea: I see. Can I see him?

Coral D: NOT a good idea!

Bea: Fine. *Bea walks over to the desk and tears up all of Coral D’s scripts before walking off*

Coral D: *fuming* BEATRICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(Outside, Bette is performing as Delores Delago to cheer Kierain up)

Bette: I’m Delores. It’s SO nice to meet you!

*Kierain still looks sad*

Bette: You think it’s easy being green? HELL NO!!!
*Kierain looks even sadder*

Bette: I’m such a tomboyish mermaid! *laughs*

*Kierain sighs*

Bette: Will anything cheer you up sweetie?

Kierain: No. But thanks for trying Bette. *walks into the house*

Good evening. I’m Melanie Symons. A young woman has been found dead at the Bayside Diner which was engulfed by flames in the early hours of this morning. She’s been identified as Ophelia Nigmos, a 15 year-old student. With more on the story, Jeniene Mapp.

Coral D: How awful.

Ophelia: YOU QUIET MR. ALF!
*Alf just walks away followed by Ailsa*
*in another part of the church Leanne Garry Kellie and Steven are quiet*
Steven: should we say something?
Garry: like what “gee thanks for the funeral?”
Kellie: Garry!
Garry: what! I hate funerals!
Leanne: you’re not suppose to like them!
Steven: guys relax
Garry: yeah Stevo’s right

*Meanwhile at school the year 9 bitch Susan Winstrate is spreading vicious rumors about Bridget!*
Susan: she’s an obsessive freak!
Lee Turner: Ya don’t say!
Susan: she always daydreams about that Who Dares Wins guy!
Lee: YUCK! He’s 45!
*Pretty soon this rumor spreads around the whole school and Bridget is outcast*
Bridget: I HATE YOU ALL! *Runs away crying*

*At the surf club later Tiago is daydreaming of Heather*
Tiago: you are so pretty!
Alice: what the?
*Tiago snaps back to reality*

*at Dawn’s Kierain is talking*
Kierain: I swear the next person who picks on me will get it!
Dawn: please don’t end up in jail
Kierain: Sally’s going there *laughs*

*at Judith’s Liz has climbed in through the window and is going through Vince’s stuff when a gun cocks behind her*
