Something that puzzles me regarding Kirsty/Jade/Laura

When Kirsty and Jade first came to the bay, it was pointed out that when one twin was in pain or in danger the other could feel it, what with them being twins.

Move on a couple of years and it turns out that Kirsty wasn't Jade's twin, but in fact it was Laura.

How then was it explained that Kirsty and Jade had this connection when there was no link to them?

I agree, it was bad continuity in that they forgot all about Kirsty's twin. But I don't think it's impossible for Kirsty and Jade to have had a connection with each other, whether or not they were related. They were brought up together and were as close as real twins would be.

I have a friend I've known since we were very young and even tho she married and moved away when she was 20 and we don't see each other as often as we used to we still seem to have some kind of link. Last time I was about to pick up the phone for a chat, the phone rang and guess who was at the other end of the line? :o It's not the first time that's happened either. We often seem to have same things happen to us at exactly the same time (last time I was off work for a week really ill I discovered she was too) and she is more like a sister than a friend.

So even tho Kirsty and Jade turned out not to be twins I don't see why they wouldn't still be very, very close. As for H&A forgetting all about Ric's diabetes tho...!!!!

It was just another piece of terrible continuity, like Ric having diabetes for all of 5 minutes.

That diabetes thing was ridiculous. Was just thinking about that the other day.

In relation to Kirsty & Jade, I hated the whole storyline with Laura and this was part of the reason, they just totally ignored part of K&J's history.

^I’ve made it quite clear on a couple of other threads how badly I thought the whole Kirsty/Jade/Laura twin storyline was handled. I just felt after four years on the show Jade deserved a better exit storyline than that because although she left Summer Bay to live with Kit and to ultimately be close to Seb the twin storyline was essentially to facilitate her departure. I remember at the time she wasn’t really on speaking terms with Shelly so I would have preferred if they’d made up and Jade had decided to go and live with her. It obviously would have been doubtful that Seb would have gone to the city though because had we not had the twin storyline then Jade might not have gotten drunk, got in the car with Duncan and Seb might not have ended up paralysed trying to stop them.

I'm with ILM, the writers had probably forgotten about that continuity point but it doesn't take much effort to explain it away.Even at the time, the link between them seemed to have more to do with how well they knew each other than biology and when it started to get in the way of plotlines we were explictily told that because they weren't spending as much time together the link wasn't there anymore.

Didn't Seb go back to the Whitsundays with Don?

TBH I just assumed that Seb got transferred to a hospital in the city and Jade followed him. I really couldn’t remember where Fisher went to when he left in 2003. Again I just assumed the city since that appears to be the default location for a lot of people to depart to.

Am I the only person who actually thought the twin swap idea was really good? Well, it would have been really good if not for the ESP stuff they'd mentioned years ago. And if there had actually been any sort of follow through rather than just getting rid of Jade a week or so later. But still, I thought the actual twin swap idea was pretty cool and original. And, judging from a couple of newspaper articles I've read, not as ridiculously far fetched as you might think.

I think the fact that most of the other soaps suddenly went "Hey!Home and Away's had an original plot!" and immediately stole it, and that their versions were nowhere near as good, shows that someone thought it was a pretty good idea.

The storyline about Jade not being Kristy's sister was quite shocking. I remember seeing it on the cover of Tv Week and couldnt believe it. I had to buy it straight away. For me, that storyline was huge. I love drama and this was a massive storyline that was shocking and it made me so interested in watching it. I couldnt wait to see it. I even scanned it to show my friend. We were both gobsmacked - This is what the writers of the show wanted. People to be on the edge of their seats and wanting to find out what happened so badly. They did similar with Charlie being Ruby's Mother but sadly most of us already knew it because of someone leaking it :(

Anyway here is the scans from Tv Week for the people who are interested:
