Why adults act as teenagers?

I must be totally gullible coz I totally find romeo a believable 17/18 year old!!Well hes deffinatly a mature looking one for sure but believable to me!

Deff more then half the actors in other programes or movies out there..

Does anyone know what age is martha's ment to be? I found out a few weeks ago that shes 24 in real life and nearly died of shock..I thought she was like 30 O.o

Martha is 22. She was born in 1988, which would make her 21, but when she returned to the show in 2005 they made her about 18 months older.

The only one that ever caused my belief to come plummetting from a great height was Julius, that guy in Kirsty and Jade's year.I remember his first scene was him talking to Jade at school and I genuinely thought he was a teacher until I realised he was in uniform.(Even the Channel 5 continuity announcer made a quip about "very large schoolboys who looked at least 23.")

Julius was amazing, he reminded me of a much older cousin of mine as well at the time, so I found him utterly ridiculous.

Kim was also unbelievable, he just looked far too much of a man to be at school, especially alongside superwimp Robbie.

As for Romeo, I cringe every time I remember that he's meant to be much younger than he looks.

Yes, just watching the preview just makes me feel that Luke looks too old to play 16 year old Romeo.

I have dealings with year 10 and 11 students(15 - 17 year olds) and some of them look like boys like Jai, others as like men like Romeo or Kim, they all age at different rates. My little brother suddenly started looking really manly when he was in year 12.

I always thought Kim looked just ridiculous in school uniform, that really was a mistake by the writers/directors/ producers/ whoever [no idea who does what in shows]. Especially as he was friends with Robbie, who was a normal size school boy.

I wondered if HAA has learnt its lesson, because recently they made Aden leave school- was this because Todd has just become too big and muscly to get away with acting the part of a school boy? Now Geoff has left school, probably for the same reason. This is completely right because they are both young men and can't play the parts of boys forever!

I think its easier for girls to stay looking young and small for longer, because obviously they tend not to grow to 6 foot tall and grow huge muscles . Cassie/ Sharni was incredibly slim and young looking, so is Ruby/ Rebecca.

Aden left school because he had finished year 12, and he repeated too, which made him one year older than the other in the same class. But the last months of Adens last year at school they hardly showed him there. Maybe just because it looked strange because he looked so much older than the others. When he was bullyed by Matthew Lyons I thought it looked hillarious because Aden looked so much more bigger/older than Matthew did. But Matthew was supposed to be in the same class/level as Jai (year 9 or 10), it would have been better if they had done that scene with a guy who was supposed to be in year 12. I remember at the beginning of the year 2008, a lot of Adens classmates looked at the same age as him. The actor's age doesn't matter if his/hers friends/classmates are played by some actors who are about the same age. And for kim, it actually was mentioned that he was repeating year 12, and he had actually been out of school for 1 year or 2. I have an old episode on VHS which shows this.

I think the reason why they let Geoff leave school was because they didn't know how to do more interesting school storylines with him. And there haven't been many school storylines this year. Maybe it was to give both Aden and Geoff a storyline.

I have always thought that Cassie/Sharni was far too old for her role, actually she looked much older than Aden and Kim (and those two was repeating too), and she wasn't repeating too so she was only 18 in her last year. Yes, she was very slim, but I don't think muscles has much to say - you can be a muscly 15 year old and a thin 15 year old. But she looked older in her face and thats just natural because the actress was about 25! It looked so strange with Sally as her fostermother, they looked like friends at the same age. (I have always thought that it was strange they let Sally/Kate play the big mother figure on the show. She was too young and some of her scenes as a mother when she was angry was funny but they weren't meant to be, the same with her role as a principal. Maybe it was just because she had been on the show for so long.)

I think that Ruby/Rebecca is too old for her role too, but not as much as cassie/sharni was. I thing the "age" thing is the reason why a lot of people seem to like Geoff/Ruby more than Ruby/Xavier. It isn't about the age itself but who the characters are paired with.

I remember in Robbie and Tasha's final year on the show, they were both still in Year 12, but they were never shown at school, because after everything they had been through (getting married twice, Tasha having a baby), they were difficult to believe as school kids. It wasn't that they looked too old, but their storylines were too adult.

I think it's something they needed to, otherwise she would have been younger than a couple of character that we 100% know to have been born after her, mainly Duncan.

Isn't Martha still younger than Duncan despite being born before him?I think they aged Duncan up three years, making him 23 now, he was in the same year as Kirsty.(Although they might have deaged him when he came back in 2004, it was all a bit vague...)

They made him the same age as Kirsty, Nick and Jade in 2000, which would make him 23 now, but then de-aged him in 2004 to be the same age as Tasha and Ric, which would make him 21 now, but I reckon his age was probably changed again to make him older in 2005 . He was born after Martha though, so who knows what age he is actually meant to be now.
