Gina is one of the best... Hope she will stay for long time...

I think and really hope Gina becomes mainstay and stays for years unlike Beth, who only stayed a few years and died in an awful off-screen death.

I think the actors who play Gina and Hugo are good, but the characters are so excruciatingly boring. It wouldn't be so bad if, like Xavier, they were content to be boring and just stay in the background of storylines making a random comment every now and then, and maybe get thrown their own small storyline every couple of months or so, but Hugo in particular insists on being the star of everything that's been going on since he arrived. HE IS NOT THAT INTERESTING!! And Gina...

Putting her with Palmer, who is equally as excruciating, makes me want to vomit. Constant references to them "getting it on" does NOT help!

The Austin family are OK.

I think Bernard Curry is the only one who's doing a good job at playing his character.

Although I do hate Hugo I cannot actually pin point way, but his character annoys me!

Yeah, non of the Austin's actually catch my fancy.

Xavier is as dull as a broken light bulb, all he does is snog different girls, and follow other's around like a lost sheep.

Gina is OK, though she goes down in my books after the storyline the writers have dished her with hooking up with Palmer.

Brendan was also OK, though was never given a good storyline so in result just seemed like a prop, plus he was only a guest.

I think they need to send Gina and Xavier packing; the only way they'll make this famly interesting is if they bring in a new Austin that has potential to be great. Maybe a new storyline?

I actually rather like Hugo and his relationship with Martha so I'm worried that this mystery storyline will end with him either dead or in jail.I've spent most of the year finding Xavier irritating but I've actually started to warm to him a bit recently, since Ruby's been messing him around while he just tries and bes supportive, although I'm not sure how long it will last.Brendan was a lot better in his second stint than his first, when he was actually treated as a character rather than a plot device to create conflict between Hugo and Xavier, but there's still a limit to what you can do with him.Gina...I'm not even sure I've formed an opinion on her, sometimes I really dislike her, other times I think she's all right, mostly she just washes over me.I wouldn't object to them getting rid of Gina and Xavier...so they'll probably get rid of Hugo.

Have to agree with some of these comments, but at least it is a real family, apart from the father. I've said before that there are too many dysfunctional bits of families in one small town, with teenagers all over the place. There is an attempt here to portray a genuine family with all its warts. No family is going to bond perfectly and it would make boring viewing anyway. Here you have teenage/twenties boys trying to find their way in life and making cockups along the way, particularly in relationships and with a mother torn between letting them go and holding them onto her apron strings.

They all have their individual characters, even Xavier. Is he really just a bad actor (would they have kept him like that for so long?), or is he meant to be a bit of a drifter, going along with whoever tugs him? And then we feel sorry for him! I hope he stays.

Yes they are probably one of the only "family" units.

However, there still isn't a family in the bay that actually has a both a mum and dad (married) with kids. Most of the family are disfunctional.

Xavier can be boring sometimes but not because he's an Austin, he fits with the rest of the teens and i know he's easy to pick on but of course  everyone loves Brendan, "he can do nothing wrong" he's a pretty original character too...

and then you have Hugo  the one and only :P who's ****ing awesome interesting you name it

he doesn't deserve to be the blacksheep of the year!

Gina can go everywhere but not with Xavier he needs to grow up a little though she's a good principal she can be the next sally with Palmer not the greatest feels like her first storyline can't really judge her yet.

I'm starting to hate Gina with more passion then i hate Hugo which i didn't think was possible.

I can tolerate Xavier...Barely.
