beau_t Posted March 2, 2013 Report Posted March 2, 2013 Hmmm i see what you mean about him only really chilling out in the late 90s, but he wasn't exactly a villain the entire time before that. It was really only in the pilot and at the very start of the show he was totally villainous. Very very quickly into the series they started fleshing out his character and creating other sides to him. In the years that followed, he wasn't likeable all the time, and he could still be a bit of a bastard if the script called for it, but he could also be loving and funny and caring, just in a slightly more conservative way than other characters. Then, as you said, by the late 90s he pretty much became totally "nice" with only brief nods to his dark side.

Homeandawayfan. Posted December 23, 2014 Report Posted December 23, 2014 I am watching 1988 and am up to episode 91 now, so have watched over 4 months worth of the first season again. And it has made me realise how much more modern and exciting it was in content than Neighbours at the time.
