adellejefferiesxox Posted September 2, 2009 Report Posted September 2, 2009 They are either running out of storylines hence why they keep repeating rape/sexual assult storylines, or they wanna portray how common and frequent it happens in our society.
grumble bum Posted September 2, 2009 Report Posted September 2, 2009 Have you noticed though, as soon as the women have tried to fight back the rapist suddenly becomes the good guy and the victim is the badie.
locohero Posted September 2, 2009 Report Posted September 2, 2009 i'd like to know what the rape/falling off a cliff ratio is in Summer Bay
alreetlike Posted September 2, 2009 Report Posted September 2, 2009 They are either running out of storylines hence why they keep repeating rape/sexual assult storylines, or they wanna portray how common and frequent it happens in our society. I'm tempted to say they're running out of ideas. I know that unfortunately it's common in society and they have been fairly varied in the circumstances etc, but these sorts of storylines are really starting to lose their shock value since there's been a handful in recent years.
-Kevin- Posted September 3, 2009 Report Posted September 3, 2009 Who's next? Kirsty was almost raped like 3 times but someone always came or or she got away 1) When Kirsty goes and see's Kane in hospital Kirsty hitchhikes some guy picks up Kirsty and says that the lift wasnt free but she got away and stole his keys and went on the run from the cops (it was only in the H&A video) Ahh I loved that special "Hearts Divided". Kirsty took a lift from some old bloke after the bus broke down and he tries it on with her , ha hilarious shes driving through the countryside and the cops are chasing her I do think theres been quite a number of rape/sexual assualt over the past few years. There was also Melody who was attacked by Axle. Matilda was almost raped by that guy after she took drugs I think. Cassie was raped by her uncle Aden was abused by his grandfather Tasha was raped by one of the Believers Rachel was raped by Henk Dani was raped by Kane Martha was almost sexually assaulted by Lou Baines at the Rocket Club Charlie was raped by Grant I think it was also hinted at that Johnny Cooper raped Sam . Although I don't think we can be sure. It was made out to look like he did though , I remember that much. It is hugely unrealistic that all these rapes occur in a small beachside town. I know H&A are the usual overdramatic soap and they overdo drama on everything but sometimes it goes a little too far. I think we'll see a few moer over the next year or so at. At this rate the whole Summer Bay will need counselling by 2011.
Red Ranger 1 Posted September 3, 2009 Report Posted September 3, 2009 I don't think either Hayley or Selina was raped although they came quite close to it.Brodie's brother didn't rape Hayley, he just hit her a couple of times then she got away from him.(She was probably in more danger of being raped that time outside the club when she first met Noah.)Irene's husband had a thing for Selina and probably would have raped her that night Irene sprung him in her room but I don't think he actually got around to it.
adellejefferiesxox Posted September 3, 2009 Report Posted September 3, 2009 You know what would be a leap off faith, well maybe. Having a male raped on the show... like I know Aden has been abused as a child, but actually show that their are some people (woman even) who rape men, and show that some men are sensitive then we think and woman can be very domaint and controlling when it comes to relationships and sex.
Barbara Posted September 3, 2009 Report Posted September 3, 2009 ^ I think it would be interesting to see a storyline involving a man being raped. It's not always women who are being assaulted. I read an article once about men who had been raped. Although they are a lot more women who have been raped, there are quite some men who have been raped too (I don't remember the percentage of rape victims for each sex though. I read it a while ago). And according to the article I've read, the statistics are not really accurate because a lot of men who have been raped don't dare report it. They're afraid people will make fun of them for not being able to defend themselves, especially if their attacker was a woman.

I think you're totally right and not always the men are the bad ones. I think it's a little too much. Just I live in a village with ~400 people and I don't know anyone or anyone, who knows anyone, whom had been raped. It's weird. I know without the rape storylines it'll be boring and they have to think new storylines, but now it seems like the old ones just keep coming back. Have there been any teenagers, who don't go to school and not telling anyone about it? Parents think they're going, but actually not. I don't remember... My point is that they should figure something new out. Enough of the rape storylines.
