Nice to see Amanda's farewell this time round.Interesting that Irene, who even more than Belle was daggers drawn with Amanda for most of her time in the Bay, is the one that makes the effort to see she gets a decent send-off.Actually, the oddest thing at the time was the presence of Kit, who only a few weeks previous had kicked Amanda out of Beth's memorial service.Maybe the whole business with Kelli caused her to change her mind.(For one moment, I genuinely thought she was VJ...Well, she was sitting down.)Nice scene of Drew winding Belle up at the start about her habit of blowing up at people and even at this stage Belle's wearing the kind of outfit that makes you wonder if Irene saw her before she went out.Top bit of snitching from Ryan("Mrs.Smart told Mum!")and I love that bit where Drew takes his drink away from him...and then Irene takes it away from him.

I remember being disappointed at the time with Peter's departure, not the fact that he and Amanda ended up together but the way it happened. For a start, he's hardly in his last episode. When I first saw it, I was convinced that his lack of appearance was because he was already in the city waiting for Amanda and he was going to surprise her when she got there. But no, he just didn't bother turning up to her farewell and didn't go after her until Dan and Drew gave him a good shake. At the time, I was worried he was going to catch Amanda with that bloke but pleasingly she wasn't even tempted by him, which shows they've got a chance.

As for Naomi, presumably the reason for this selection...It's hard to know what to make of her, even in retrospect. She seemed to be a love interest for Lucas but didn't really fulfill that function and just hung around without serving any real purpose, then she veered into panto villain territory by blackmailing Brad before becoming broadly sympathetic again.Interesting that Ric, like Cassie, can be the voice of reason where other people are concerned even though he makes just as stupid mistakes himself.Kit's pyjamas:Designed to be completely unsexy and therefore manage, curiously, to actually be sexy because they're perfectly in character, a trick Sally and Rachel have pulled a few times.

So onto last year's episodes...Hard to shake the feeling I've already commented on these once. When I saw the synopsis I thought they were going to be about Aden's abuse but in fact that's the following week, even though we're getting hints about it, and the "scandal" is presumably Colleen being a Stewart or possibly Cassie's HIV.Was that meant to be Aden before he "reformed"?Because he did just seem like current Aden turned up a few notches, you can imagine him saying and doing almost everything from that episode now if he was in a bad mood.(Although arguably he started to "reform" when he helped Annie and in retrospect it's possible that even then he knew that he'd gone too far a few times. This was after Geoff thumped him, right?)He seems to open up to Morag not because of their deal but because he needs someone to talk to but typically ends up getting defensive.

Glad we got a reminder of exactly how everyone reacted to Cassie's HIV.Nice to see Melody before they turned her crazy;her reaction wasn't as strong as I remembered, she seemed more ignorant than judgemental(not surprisingly if she's had to rely on Christine, who I think was mentioned for the first time here)and it's telling that her first question to Miles was "Is Cassie's baby going to die?", seeming genuinely concerned.Annie seems to get over her initial fears very quickly too and even argue the point to Geoff. In fact, it's telling that all three of them change their minds straight away once someone they respect challenges them. And it says a lot about Geoff that he then went and apologised to Cassie for something she didn't know about.(How young did he look by the way? It's less than 18 months ago!)At the end of that scene, even first time round, my response was "Maybe you should have married him":Like Belle, Cassie would have been a much better character if she'd actually chosen a decent guy as her boyfriend instead of a succession of losers who messed her about.Interesting that no-one was brave enough to say, even though HIV is indiscriminate, Cassie actually did contract it by doing the wrong thing, ie having constant sex with her friend's rapist and completely disregarding Rachel's feelings.I actually agree with Martin about Miles:Answering the class' questions is one thing but he seemed to just throw out what he was meant to be teaching and give them a full lecture on the subject.

Which brings us to the revelation about Colleen.Typical that Alf and Morag seemed to find her even more annoying than usual in that episode.Got to love those expressions on their faces at the end, especially when Morag reads the book and realises exactly what Colleen's dribbling about.

At last, I've found out where all you lot have been "hiding out" for the last week and a half. I've never seen any of these past episodes and it's interesting to see Kirsty and Belle in school uniform (don't they ever change that hideous design?) and to "meet" Drew - quite a lad! I agree that there are some fabulous storeylines.

Read through all your comments and someone said (can't find who) that it was a pity you couldn't watch the following episode to an interesting repeat. Well I have. I wanted to see how Drew explained to Belle why he was in shorts only in her house (last Friday, episode 4288). So I went to U tube uk and typed in "Home and Away 4289" and there it was in 3 parts. Poor quality and might not work with all episodes though.

Good hunting.

I almost fell off my chair when I saw a topless Drew casually strolling along after a good ol' surf.

It actually made me miss his character :(

It was kind of Ironic that just as Belle's death approaches Five goes on a break and shows us some Drelle

I also noticed that Annie still has the same hair style....

Sexyluc (Kevin) could try but I’m not sure if he would be able to view them because he’s in Ireland. Most of the episodes they’ve shown this week are available to download from this site I believe. Yes Drew was an interesting character. I absolutely hated him when he first arrived but didn’t mind him towards the end even though he’d slept with his girlfriend’s mother.

I know you didn’t do this on purpose but if you’re going to post something that hasn’t aired yet, if possible would you be able to use spoiler tags please? A lot of people that don’t post still read this thread and so it’s unfair to those that follow at UK pace. Thanks. :)

Still enjoyed watching the storyline with Cam and Martha the second time round. This was at a good point because finally the net was closing in on him. Even though Cam was using her I liked the stuff between them and the way Martha stuck up for him (I know I said I couldn’t stand Martha around this time but I didn’t mind her back then when she was with Cam). I really didn’t like that Cam stole money from the Diner but I don’t suppose he had any choice. It was desperation. When that guy forced himself on Martha, Cam should have reacted a lot sooner than he did as he obviously knew what he was going to do. Probably initially saw anything that happened to Martha as collateral damage.

I thought Lucas hit the jackpot getting with Naomi TBH. And I can’t really blame him for acting like a love sick teenager. A while back on the UK discussion thread a point was raised about Hugo taking advantage of Charlie when they were on the beach. I wonder if they felt the same logic applied to Naomi and Tony as she knew what state of mind he was in when she slept with him. I really liked the stuff with Lucas and Ric. Ric gave pretty good advice knowing Lucas’s attempts with Naomi were futile (telling him that nothing could happen because her whole career was in jepordy and that they could even be friends because this is Summer Bay and people would put two and two together). He was a good mate especially driving him all the way to the city to buy a book again knowing it was pretty pointless.

I felt really sorry for Amanda when she was packing her stuff and leaving. Quite liked the conversation with Irene when she told Amanda that although Belle said she was ok with it she just told her what she wanted to hear. I felt really sad once again during the scenes with Belle when she told Amanda she spent so much time hating her and she was leaving just as they got really close. Similarly when Amanda also felt she’d lived there for two years and made such a mess of everything. When Belle told Irene that she wanted to throw a leaving party I was glad Irene said she would give her a second chance. She usually comes round with most people eventually.

Nope, it's been that way since 1988 and it's kind of iconic now.Although as someone said, if school uniforms were that short in this country there'd be way less truancy. You're not going to find every episode on youtube, I've looked for episodes from the last two years and not found them although I did track down some clips that had the stuff I needed.

It was kind of Ironic that just as

Belle's death

approaches Five goes on a break and shows us some Drelle

I noted on the spoiler forum that they probably had to have the break sooner rather than later:If one week Belle

was dead

and the next she was seventeen and dating Drew it would have seemed very strange, as well as undercutting the storyline.

So, today's episodes...Guess this isn't the best time to needle Adelle fans by pointing out the implications of that last scene in the first episode(and especially its follow up in the following one)?Thought not.Nice that Aden was the only person brave enough to badmouth Cassie, shame they cut the scene of him having a go at her from the next episode.Interesting almost silent cameo from Larry: Whatever Aden's perspective of him, he does come across as incapable rather than uncaring(although having said that, he tried to throttle him next episode...).

Other than the Aden stuff, that episode was hilarious.Loved Morag's pained expression throughout and Alf trying to get her to play along. She seemed almost sadistic when planning to leave Martha alone with Colleen.Matilda's shell-shocked expression when she thought she understood what Colleen was seeing was great and I loved the moment when Irene, Leah and Belle see Alf and Colleen hugging and stand there in a line thinking "What the heck?"Irene got some top one-liners, my favourite being "It took an earthquake to bring us together"/"I thought it would have taken a lot more than that..."The scene with Colleen and Roman was actually quite touching, with Colleen for once not being an annoyance or a figure of fun.Although her "Colleen Stewart" appelation lasted even less time than the interim Diner glimpsed here(and now apparently desintegrated...).

Interesting that both episodes were part of the lack of continuity furore around that time with Colleen (and Morag?)forgetting how many Stewart girls there were and Nicole acting as though Aden's not old enough to drink.(Although if you listen carefully and only hear what you want to(yes, both), Nicole definitely says Roman wouldn't want Aden taking "his" beer, which I take to mean Aden can't help himself to Roman's private stash rather than he shouldn't be drinking at all.)

Of course, if Aden hadn't set a time limit on the bet, Nicole would have won.He might not have seen her as girlfriend material at that point but Geoff obviously wasn't completely immune to her...charms.It was nice to see him being so loyal towards Melody, especially when he said she didn't need Nicole's help to look beautiful, an attitude he unfortunately seemed to lose very quickly.Annie hero worshipping Nicole and wearing her clothes was a great idea that I wish had gone on for longer.Interesting to get a glimpse of Axel when he was still being written as Aden's slightly more pleasant friend rather than a sexual deviant/Aden's personal punchbag/cannon fodder walking plot device.Absolutely loved that first scene with Morag utterly refusing to take any cheek from Aden or Nicole.

Omg, I cant say I noticed he stopped wearing it either!

I've really been enjoying watch these old episodes. Mostly because I wasnt a regular viewer back then so its nice to watch some old episodes I've missed.

Colleen's reaction to finding out she was Alf and Morag's big sister was great, and Morag's face was just priceless!

Todays episode annoyed me, when Matilda told Aden that she hoped he would get HIV, totally uncalled for. I would be frustrated on the possibility that I might contract the disease because of someone else.
