I always notice on digitalspy that it shows ratings of tv shows. And I always seem to notice HAA always seems to has the lowest rating.

And I just wondering is this good enough take for instance friday 26th June's ep

Home and Away's 6pm edition on Five interested 982k (6.1%), before Fiver's first look averaged 480k (3.2%).

Just shows not that many people watch it as just say 10 years ago used to watch it and how long would it need to drop before they took it off air or will they never happen?

What you do guys think?

Whatever the ratings, when Five bid for the show back in 2000, they did so with the promise to commit to the show for as long as Seven makes it.

Wow those are very very low ratings for the UK! I always thought the show got around 3/4 million!

It would be interesting to see what the ratings were at its peak, I assume they must have been quite high since the show won most popular over seas drama a few times in the 90's..

Does Home and Away get better viewers than Neighbours then in the UK? I'm pretty sure it does in Ireland...It's always something that confused me because I could never work out which soap was more popular. Would I be right in saying that originally Neighbours was more popular than Home and Away, (seeing as it was aired on the BBC and H & A on five) but as the years went on H & A became more popular? And also, was this the same in Australia?

Neighbour's pulls in about 200k more viewers. However Five show the next episode of H&A on one of it's digital channels (Fiver) on the same day and this draws in roughly another 500k viewers.

All the soaps ratings have declined over the last 10 years, with the advent of widespread multi-channel TV, so the decline is not unique to H&A.

It is that way in Australia yeah, although Neighbours ratings seem to be going steadily up..

I was just looking at the UK ratings here they are for Neighbours and Home and Away

Five's offering of Neighbours, during which Bridget continued to struggle with the idea of marrying Declan, was seen by 1.47m (10.6%) at 5.30pm. Fiver's repeat at 7pm added 169k (0.9%).

Meanwhile, the resolve to Lou's murder case in Home and Away brought in 1.06m (6.1%) at 6pm on Five. Fiver's first look interested 396k (2.2%) 30 minutes later.

Ty's departure from Ramsay Street, meanwhile, was watched by 1.30m (10.8%) at 5.30pm on Five, while Fiver's repeat showing at 7pm added 233k (1.6%).

Five's episode of Home and Away, which featured Trey and Nicole filming a sex tape, was seen by 978k (6.6%) at 6pm. Fiver's first look had 455k (3.2%).

FIVE promote Neighbours alot more than Home and Away. It has a ad campaign during other FIVE shows and there have recently been billboards and magazine campaigns for the show with the "Kylie Who?" tagline. H&A doesn't get any of that.

^Thanks for the info alexx and oscartg. I have noticed before that Neighbours seemed to get more promotion than Home and Away. I only ever remember seeing one add for Home and Away, while around the same time they kept showing the ad for Neighbours (Libby dancing to Let The Sun Shine) although saying that I haven't seen that ad on for a while.
