Saddest Moments

I wrote the Charlotte bio what is probably over 5 years ago now and effectively I wrote about what I saw. I've no medical background so I don't know what they'd put down on the death certificate. The choice of words I used there was because she pulled from the water and revived, before the damage done meant she died in hospital a few episodes later. However, yeah, whatever killed her was solely brought on by the rip she got caught in.

I'm not sure, so don't quote me on this, but I'm sure the lifeguards and the surf club might have felt bad because they had to revive Charlotte with a pretty out of date recuss kit. However I think it eventually turned out that she had been underwater for so long by the time she was rescued, even a new groovy machine wouldn't have made any difference. Though they pulled her out and revived her, she was a goner. Charlotte never had any underlying health problems, though suffered depression and miscarriage.

Yeah if I remember correctly there was blame going around to a few people after Charlotte was rushed to hospital.

I think Josh, who was the lifeguard on duty was under scrutiny for negligence whilst Josh was busy shifting the blame on Alf because of the shoddy equipment after Josh wanted to get new equipment but Alf disagreed they needed new stuff. Don't quote me on this because I'm not 100% sure though.

- Flynn's death, and the events leading up to it. Like Sally and the kids trying to make his life as full as possible, and watching him having the time of his life, but with the knowledge of his impending death. Especially when Belle made him fall down the stairs, and he died next to Sally during the same night.

- Beth's death.

- When Sally left the bay, and the speech she gave.

- When people started to move on after the chopper crash.

- Jack's death.

These were some of the saddest moments - but Flynn's death was the worst by far...the part when Ric called him dad for the first time on his death bed did it for me :(

The moment Tony found Jack lying on the ground was so sad & his chat to Roman going through the night was heartbreaking to watch. Also watching him unable to be with rachel & bond with Harry when he wasnt born yet cause of his greif was horrible

I also found the part where Vinne was in the bear suit (or was it rabbit) with VJ at his party was sad

Also Roman's goodbye and when they told Kim he couldnt have kids cause of the Mumps he had (imagine what it would be like to be told you cant have kids)

This year I found the saddest part was seeing the people chalie and alf found in the shipping containers :(......what animals would do this to the desperate and the vulernable

Most of what has been written, but I thought:

Ross Buckton been diagnosed with Alzheimer's was sad, because of how Charlie, Ruby and Morag reacted. And all the things that has happened because of this; Like when Ross was on the beach after forgetting where he lived (It think it was after Ruby ran away)

When Will, Hayley and Nick's dad (Can't remember his name) Died. Will's reaction when he found him under the car, broke my heart and I felt so sorry for Irene! Bless her!

Belle's funeral, particularly the balloons she pre-ordered was the saddest imho.

That said, I remember thinking her cancer storyline didn't really fit because she'd only just got over her drug addiction, so to straight after get diagnosed with cancer just seems a bit too much drama for one character. Like the writers hadn't planned the cancer storyline and came up with it in order to write her out. This might have already been discussed but I've not read back on those threads.

Now, you see I loved that thing with the balloons. Amusing but very sad at the same time.

For me it's Beau Brady's final episode as Noah where his ghost took Hayley round the Bay and talked her out of topping herself. Very "A Christmas Carol" but brilliantly done. The five episodes with the siege and the fallout remains, in my opinion, Home & Away's greatest moment ever.

Or, definitely the arc from Flynn's diagnosis to his passing. Dan Bennett's finest hour in the chair by a long shot.

I guess we have to put Sally's departure in there too. Again, brilliant writing from start to finish, and a fine way to celebrate 20 years of the programme. The final scene of that episode, where Miles put up a new set of photographs on the mantlepiece, was just perfect. It was that respect for the show's heritage that did her exit so much justice.

I found Chloe's death particularly moving, specifically the moment when Jesse realises that he was responsible. The scene in which his memory of the crash returns was incredibly powerful, even more so for the lack of dialogue - undoubtedly some of Ben Unwin's best acting.

Also, Fisher's exit (the moment when he and Sally remember their first meeting, in particular) is one of my favourites - and saddest.

Yes I think that entire last segments of Fisher's last episode is one of the saddest H&A 'moments', particularly as you say when he and Sally remember their first meeting. I'd love to watch this again but it is no where to be found and I discovered last year that I have since lost all of the H&A videos I had accumulated over the years! :(

I'd also throw in the episode Maz and Fisher were told Byron had cancer, featuring a flashback of Alan collapsing on the beach.
