Aden and Ric similarities

Well, both had nicknames for the people they bullied. (Ric used 'twinkle toes' when he bullied Henry) and Aden uses Bible boy with Geoff. They have both been with Cassie and Belle at some point, and were both bullies turned good. Anybody else realise this too? (they both even had quiffs at one point!)

Aden still has a violent streak in him. The way he keeps calling Geoff a "Bible Boy" should be stopped. Aden will always be a bully. Bullies never stop.

I don't think Aden is a bully anymore. I can't blame him for still calling Geoff 'bible boy' really. Geoff's judgmental comments would tempt me to insult him the way Aden does....especially after Geoff's reaction to the news of Belles drug addiction.

He went out of his way too to help Joey when she was being bullied by Robbo.

Well, I liked Ric after he turned good and I don't really like Aden. Not sure why anyone would think he has the right to have a go at Geoff(which he doesn't, at least not very often and not in a particularly serious way).If you want to talk about reactions to Belle's drug abuse, watch the episode after she overdosed:Geoff's the one at her side, apologising for how he treated her, Aden's the one saying she did it to herself and storming off without seeing her.Moral high ground seems a bit shakey.

Anyway...I had this massive speech planned about why the storyline worked for me with Ric and not with Aden. But then I figured people were tired of my rants(see first paragraph)and it was off topic anyway. So I thought it would be more fun to point out just how similar their storyline is:

2004/2007:[Re]introduced as a school bully and member of a school sports team(swimming, rugby). Target one of the younger boys(Henry, Geoff).End the year in a bad way(living on the streets thinking he's killed his dad, in hospital after a car crash).

2005/2008:Family history and awkward relationship with father becomes common knowledge.Repeats a year at school and moves in with two popular characters(Sally and Flynn, Roman and Morag). His only friend is an apparently self-centered character(Matilda, Nicole)who he looks like getting together with but instead he falls for another girl(Cassie, Belle).Finds out that a one-time friend(Callan, Axel)is guilty of sex crime and puts him in hospital in a storyline that just peters out without any real resolution.Loses his virginity with his girlfriend but unresolved abuse issues and a big mistake on his part(getting jealous of her counselling partner and thumping him, taking her hostage and trying to kill someone)see them split up.She starts seeing someone else(Aden[this is where you have to concentrate], Angelo)who he clashes with from the off but the closing months see them reconciled.

2006/2009:The premiere sees him and his girlfriend trapped in a precarious situation(inside an electrified van, in a burning building).Having left school, he gets himself a new job(at a garage, in a trawler)with a bullying and unstable workmate(Dom, Robbo). He befriends the new girl in town(Belle, Joey)who ends up being targetted by his workmate and helps her discover her identity(finding her mother, coming to terms with her sexuality). But cracks are starting to show in his relationship and shortly after something happens to his guardian(Flynn dies, Roman is blinded), they split up again. She starts dating a character with a drug habit (Macca, Liam)and, when it all goes wrong, he's on hand to pick up the pieces and

they decide to give it one last try

.

So, the storyline for the rest of the year:Belle cheats on Aden with Liam and Aden realises Nicole's the love of his life.Well, I can dream...

Although Cassie stuck around for 2007 and we know Belle's not gonna be there next year...

Wow, I always thought how similar their characters were!

In my opinion I can see Aden and Nicole as the new Ric and Mattie!

But, I still miss Ric and Mattie loads and would kill to have them back! :( Ohh and not forgetting Luc!
