As you all know, the Lesbian Kiss episode was screened on Five yesterday evening.

Can anyone confirm if Five showed it intact as the kiss seemed very short for the amount of controversy it's had in Australia?

Well I don't watch it on Five, but I've taken a look on Demand Five and yes the kiss was exactly how it played out in Oz.

This is probably not the place to say it but it does have something to do with the lesbian storyline. Can I just say how much I hate that voice over woman at the end because she keeps making the storyline out to be a bloody soft-core porno <_<

I agree, she is annoying. Like the other day after Charlie and Joey danced on the boat and got up close and almost kissed, she said something along the lines of "that was only done for the boys". Way to go and try to cheapen a beautiful moment

Ha, I think she's quite witty actual, HA does get a bit schmalzy at times.

But I think it's way out of line for Charley getting involved in someone she's giving police protection and quite a bit younger than herself. I bet it will make Roman chuckle when it all comes out

I agree that I'm not entirely happy about the way the storyline's been done, it does almost seem as if Charlie's copping off with someone she's in a position of responsibility over.I watched the next episode this afternoon and I noticed the kiss was missing from the recap.Memories of the Brookside omnibus...

It's ok, if you record it you can pause it

I think it just goes to show how different attitudes are in different countries. If that kiss had been shown in a uk soap such as Hollyoaks (which is also aimed at a young audience and aired in an early evening slot) no one would have batted an eyelid. In fact I think I'm right in saying there was recently a storyline in the show involving a love triangle between a girl and two guys, all of whom were sleeping together at some point?! Personally I think they got the Charlie/Joey kiss just right, as they obviously knew it would offend certain people so they purposefully didn't go OTT, but I'm glad they didn't back down completely over showing it.

Can I just ask, how old is Joey supposed to be? Although she seems quite mature she does look very young, and I must admit pairing her with Charlie of all people seems a bit of a strange decision to me. I'm guessing Charlie is about 25-28? Whereas I'd put Joey at about 19/20...

That is true. Infact they showed a rather full on male/male kiss between a cross dressing Irish guy and another Indian guy earlier than H&A goes on air in Australia. Hollyoaks had a plot about a gay priest at one point. They had a plot about a girl sleeping with her fathers girlfriend. They have also introduced another lesbian character into the show a month of so ago.

The one thing that the UK has that I think has made a difference is public funded broadcaster who have the remit to provide representative programming. Channel 4(partly publicy funded) and BBC have really lead the way in including gay characters without the advertising pressures. After numerous programmes like Brookside, Tipping the Velvet, Queer as Folk the British public are pretty used to gay kisses on tv and such a plot would never get the publicity as this in the UK. We are pretty used to that sort of thing in the UK, although I was slightly surprised at the Ravi/Kris kiss on Hollyoaks but in a good way. Mind you I think it was ITV in the end that really broke the mold in giving British tv a gay couple on a popular tv show that the public really got behind, in Nikki/Helen in Bad Girls.
