Don't know what you were worrying about, I thought that was pretty good.I really liked the conversation between Roman and Martha and the confusion that everyone's feeling.Waiting to see what Charlie does as well.

Chapter 17

“It was the night of my party. Remember I disappeared and said I was at a friends. Well I was at Joey’s”

“Joeys? Your ex Joey?”

“Yeah” Charlie paused for a second. “That guy outside, he… he raped me that night. I went to get more wine and it happened. Outside the Surf Club”

“Charlie! You should have told me!” Watson couldn’t believe what she just got told. All this time she just thought Charlie wanted to get away from Angelo so went to her friends. Not that she was raped. Watson put her arm around Charlie who was now in tears.

“I didn’t want to tell anyone. Not even Angelo”

“So he doesn’t know?”

“He does. Martha knew. She was the only one other than Joey who I told”

“Charlie, you have to report it”

“No. I don’t want to bring it up again in court”

“But Charlie, he can’t get away with it. You have to stop him doing this to someone else”

“I can’t face him”

“But you have already bumped into him once, who says you won’t again. You won’t be able move on if you don’t report him”

“I said no!”

“This is all my fault” Jack had just been told why Tony committed suicide.

“If I never agreed to go into witness protection, he would never have done this” He added.

“Jack, you couldn’t have known. None of us could have. You did what you thought was the best”

“But it wasn’t. I am the reason he’s dead. I’m the reason my dad killed himself!”

“No. Jack, please, this isn’t your fault. You didn’t know” It broke Martha’s heart to see him like this.

“I have to go and see Rachel”

“No. Let me speak to her first”

“Martha, I have to. I have to apologize”

“OK. But I will be with you when you tell her”

“Martha. Thank you for everything. I’m surprised you don’t hate me”

“I could never hate you, Jack”

“Just wait in the car for five minutes. Let me speak to Rachel before she sees you”

Martha made her way up the drive and knocked on the door. There was no answer for ages and she as she was about to leave Rachel came to the door.

“Hey Martha”

“Hi. I was just about to leave”

“Sorry. Me and Hugo were, you know” She started laughing.

“Oh sorry come in Martha. Would you like a drink?”

“No thanks. I came round because I need to speak to you”

“Oh, what about?”

Martha wasn’t sure she could tell her. She looked so happy. Happier than she had been for a long time and she didn’t want to ruin that for her, for Hugo and for Tasha.

“Umm… you know what. I’ll tell you another time”

“Is everything alright Martha?”

“Yeah, yeah, just fine”

“I really have to go now. I told Roman I’d go back to the hospital to see him before I get the kids”

“Oh Ok then. Tell Roman we said hi”

“Yep, will do”

“Bye Martha”

“Bye” Hugo added.

Martha just ran out the house and got in the car.

“Well?”

“I couldn’t tell her”

“What! Why not?”

“Because she seems so happy. She’s been to hell and back since you went and things are just starting to look up and this will devastate her. Knowing Tony killed himself for nothing”

“I’m sorry, Jack” she added.

“I get that Martha. But she’s going to find out anyway so I want her to hear it from me before everyone else finds out”

“I know. I’ll speak to her. Just give me some time; I still need to get my head around it myself”

“I understand that, Martha. But she has to know”

He got out the car and walked up to the house. Martha went after him and grabbed his arm.

“Jack, you can’t just knock on the door and say hi and expect to be invited in for tea”

“I know that, Martha. Now get off me”. He pulled his arm free.

“Jack! Just get back in the car”

“No”

She couldn’t stop him and before she knew it he had already knocked on the door.

“Jack…” Rachel whispered. “No. You’re dead”

“Please, Rachel, let me explain”

“Can I just come in?” he added as Rachel never answered and just stood there.

Martha came up behind Jack. “I’m so sorry”

“You… you knew?”

“I’ve only just found out. I swear”

“Who’s at the door?” Hugo shouted.

Jack was surprised to hear Hugo was there.

“Rachel?” Hugo went to see who was at the door because Rachel never answered. He couldn’t believe his eyes. Jack. Jack was standing before him.

“What’s going on?” Hugo didn’t know what else to say.

“Hugo, let me explain. Please can I come in?” he asked turning to Rachel. Rachel moved out the way for Jack and Martha to come in.

“Well, explain what you are doing here?” Hugo felt angry, betrayed, upset and happy.

“I’ve been in witness protection”

“What! Why?”

“I did it to protect my family”

“Protect your family. From what? From who?”

Jack explained everything to Hugo and Rachel.

Hugo was still angry that he let everyone believe he was dead for the last four years but he understood why he did it.

“Jack, I get why you did it mate. I’m just happy you’re alive” Hugo and Jack hugged.

Rachel got up and made her way to the bathroom.

“Rachel…” Jack knew she didn’t understand why he did what he did and she blamed him for Tony’s death.

“I’ll go talk her” Martha told them.

“Thanks Martha”

“What were you doing here anyway?” Jack asked.

“I live here. Rachel and I are…together”

“What?”

“Were together now”

“But that’s your dead uncle’s wife. It’s just wrong!”

“Jack, don’t come back after four years and start go on at us about whats right and wrong. I love Rachel and she loves me”

“It’s sick. That’s my dad’s wife”

“I know but it isn’t sick”

Martha came back into the living room. “She hasn’t said a word”

“This is all my fault” Jack muttered to himself.

After 10 minutes of talking, Rachel came out and started screaming at Jack.

“How could you? I loved him”

She started hitting him and was crying and screaming.

He’s dead because of you! You killed him!”

Jack and Martha left thinking it was best to let Rachel get used to the idea.

Hugo grabbed hold of Rachel, who then broke down in tears in his arms.

Jack was kneeling beside Tony’s grave. After he left Rachel’s, he told Martha he wanted to be by himself. He thought it’d be ok coming up here because he didn’t think anyone he knew would see him.

“Dad, I am so sorry. I never thought that this would happen. If I knew, I would have never have gone into witness protection. I only did what I thought was best. I love you, Dad and this is all my fault. Tears fell onto the ground by his grave. Jack spent the next 10 minutes talking to his dad, unaware someone was watching him.

Angelo was watching him from behind a tree. He couldn’t believe that right there, knelt the guy he thought he had murdered.

Angelo confronts Jack and it isn't long before everyone knows he's alive. Watson tries getting Charlie to report the guy who raped her. And Rachel starts drinking again.

Poor Charlie! :( I hope Watson will convince her to report her rapist, the sooner the better.

Poor Jack! He will always feel so guilty for being responsible of his dad's suicide and Rachel's unhappiness. :(

Poor Rachel! Just when she was starting to be happy again, she finds out her husband killed himself for no reason. :(

Wonder how Angelo will react.
