They obviously would have known that Celeste was leaving for some time before that so maybe they decided a shoddy happy ever after was easier than spending more time on developing a proper ending. Obviously they werent too bothered about it because they cut her out in what seemed like mid scene to focus on nicole having a tantrum.

Actors say reasons why they left a soap all the time, they're not all necessarily true. They have to save face and don't want to damage their chances of getting work in the future. I reckon she was pushed. Celeste wasn't a great actress and I think Melody would have been a difficult character to write for long-term so it's not a surprising decision.

Oipoodle Posted April 3, 2009 Report Posted April 3, 2009 If they did suddenly find themselves with only three episodes to write out Melody, they should have had a complete rethink because it didn't really work.She seemed to rush into a questionable decision while she was in an emotional state.I'd have preferred for her to go and live with her dad, whose whereabouts weren't even mentioned:He might have been weak and a bit neglectful but at least he wasn't likely to try and exorcise her next time they had a disagreement. I was thinking that myself it would've made a lot more sense. I agree too that they should have given her a proper send off instead of focusing on Nicole/Geoff especially as they've had several epsiodes dedicated to them since I think Nicole could have had that tantrum in the ep that followed.

I agree.She was always listed under "Guest cast".If they still had proper opening titles, she wouldn't have been in it.I'd place her in the same category as people like June or Dylan who appeared as much as the other characters but were never actually promoted to regular status.
