Would you like more 'normal' storylines?

Yeah Neighbours scrapped that 3 ep per week contract as of from the 07 ''revamp'' - its much more diverse now, some characters are seen everyday for weeks. I guess it just means the storylines flow much more smoothly and it's no longer predictable.

Back to the normal storylines. I do feel we need to see some of the everyday ''human'' storylines going on, they dont have to be the central storyline of a week or episode, just have them run alongside the more OTT stuff.

It worked so well during the 90's and 80's because the family's were so concrete, we knew the four core units and they were there for years as Ryan mentioned - Fletcher/Ross, Stewarts, Irene's and Fishers- as long this format was consistent we could have as many unconventional characters or living arrangements without it feeling like the show lacked a structure - which is how it feels to me at present.

I think there is a lack of the warmth that seems to come threw with the 'family' units - it used to be a very prominent aspect to the show, but it is pretty much non existent now.

Male and Female parents with 2.4 kids

Quoting Belle are we lol.

I think home and away is trying to convey a point with the family units, just because they arent all related doesnt mean that they arent family. You dont have to be blood related to create a family. Look at Roman, Nicole & Aden. or Irene, Geoff, Annie and Belle. Or Miles, Jai and Melody.

As I kind of said in my above post, the problem is even those families don't really seem to exist anymore.Irene, Belle, Geoff and Annie in particular come across as less of a family and more like a bunch of people who just happen to live together.

And yes, Neighbours seems to have a much healthier policy regarding character availability. Here in the UK we're near the start of the Bridget pregnancy storyline and as a result her and Declan are in almost every episode. If this was Home and Away, they'd keep disappearing for half a week. There aren't many things this show could learn from Neighbours but that's one of them.

I'm not a huge Neighbours fan, but I've watched it on and off lately, and I'm really starting to appreciate some of the family storylines. The Parkers are annoying, but they seem a lot more genuine than Miles, Jai and Melody as a family, with Kirsty and Ollie when it suits Kirsty. I also really like Susan and Karl, and Rebecca as parents. They're just a lot more convincing because of their age. There's something hard to swallow about 30 year-old actors playing the parents of 20-year old actors playing teens on H&A. It would be fine in one case, but there have been so many of them over the last few years, it's almost impossible to take seriously.

I was actually thinking about this the other day, we never get a really good funny episode anymore. Sure, theres some comedy in a few of the episodes but I miss ones like when Robbie and Kim ended up at that nudist retreat thing or when Martha and Jack played pool and she did the run, Alf's reaction was priceless. Or even when Ric, Lucas and Cassie dared Mattie to sing the national anthem in the diner. I think everything has got so serious not, theres no really good comedic moments.

Omg yes thats exactly what I want too. Another one that springs to mind was the strip poker scene. Or how about all the party's that Jack and Kim used to throw?? We need more scenes like that I think.
