Top Ten Mothers To Appear On Home And Away

1. Pippa Felcther/Ross is by far the best mother to ever set foot in Summer Bay. Frist mother you saw on Home and Away and best mother you will seen. She looked after over twenty kids played by two perfect actress who both enjoyed it and were passionate about their role as Pippa.

Both Pippa's had warmth to them whitch is why they felt like different characters. And if Vanessa and Debra had been to different characters, it would have been hard to think who was a better mum... which goes to show how wonderful Vanessa and Debra were at playing Pippa.

2 Beth Hunter- without doubt, if one mum come close to Pippa it would have been Beth. Looking after the farm and having five kids would have been difficult and also having your husband cheat on you and not help kids problems and picking favorites. Once her husband died, it was up to Beth to keep the family going and she did a very good job at it. She helped Kit get over her alcohol problem and stoping Mattie and Herny being spoit brats. She also became a mother to Sutherland grils and Max. Once she broke up with Rhys, she still considered all Sutherland's as her own kids in regards to what happened. But the mistake they made was moving Beth out of central role, which many fans were thinking she was becoming great Pippa replacement. It was very sad day for all her family, friends and fans when she got killed in the car carsh.

3 - Ierne Roberts, the most talented actress on the show, started as the most evil mother to the most devoted caring and kind Mum in the bay.

What Makes Irene such a great mother was that she always fought for the safety. She nearly looked after the same amount of kids as Pippa.

Many fans think Irene is the new Pippa as well as the new Ailsa, and she is female version of Alf Stewart. Irene was the thrid mother figure to become a main Character.

4 - Ailsa Stewart. Was the second mother you met in Home and Away. And as soon as you met her, you knew she had been a great mother having to help "bad girl" Bobby.

I do wonder why Ailsa didit take Bobby in before Pippa came. Maybe it was because she still had a criminal record, then had baby in 1989, fully aware it might have a polbem with its birth... only mistake was Duncan turning into great nasty piece of work.

She fostered about seven kids during her 12 years on the show and also was a mother figure to other kids in the Bay by listening to them at them Dinner by serving them milkstakes or Chips Or Burgers or tea.

5 - Sally Fletcher. You saw her from the pilot when she was ten years old and she stayed in the bay for tewnty more years and became the fifth best mother to appear on Home and Away. Sally may look too young to foster Ric and Cassie as she was only 12 years older than them, which made her look like she was a big sister to them. She acted like a mother to them in every way. Sally made Ric the man he is today and helped Cassie through the abuse by her uncle and her boyfriend. And most of all kept Littlie Pippa safe from Jonny Cooper.

6 - Leah Patterson/Baker. Leah may only have one child. First of all, when gave brith to her son VJ eight year ago, her husband Vinnie was sent to Jail and she was forced to look after VJ alone. She was good and it really showed how loving she was when VJ became deaf, but she didn't rest until VJ got his hearing back. Also, what makes Leah a great mum like Sally is that she knows when to keep her son VJ safe. For example, when Leah was having touble with Dan. Leah had sent VJ away until things were sorted out. Also, when Sarah Lewis had them hostage, Leah sent VJ away again.

Also Leah always listen to teenagers' polbems when they come into the Diner. And most importantly, she managed to build a close bond with step-son Ryan, and made sure he was always a part of the family. Ruby and Charlie now live with her and I have noticed that Leah seems to act like a mother figure towards Ruby.

7 - Shelley Sutherland. Shelley was a very devoted, loving, caring, and supporting mother which was enough for me to say she was good mother and she helped those in need of a home like Brodie. She seemed a good Pippa replacement, but people didn't seem to give her a chance. Shelley and Kirsty are the only two family members I like because they are both real characters unlike the rest of family. I just wish it was Rhys that left in 2002, not Shelley. Because Shelley did a lot better job at it than Rhys did.

Only thing I wasn't happy about was when she let her new boyfriend bully her into not giving her kidney to Kristy but at end she came to her senses and did it.

8 - Judith Ackroyd was only on the show for a year when the actress quit. But if she had stayed on the show for longer, I think she would have been more on top. She did do a great job looking after her only child, Edward.

9 - Natalie Nash. Natalie was nowhere near as good as Pippa, Shelley, Beth or Sally. But Natalie did try.

10 - Rebecca Fisher/Nash. I am sorry to say out of all the mothers to have to live in Summer Bay house or Summer Bay, Rebecca would have probably been the weakest out of all mothers.

Looking after four kids , three of them ran away and Sally moved in with Vinnie. Sam moved into Donald's house. Tess moved to live with Pippa in Queensland. And there was only one of them to stay living with her and that was Justine. Rebecca was a nice person all the same but she was without a doubt on botton of list. Rebbcca was a great support to Justine when she was being changed with crime she didit do. but however Rebbcca does become number ten.

I hope you enjoy this.n It's something I've been wanting to type for long time. Hope it wasit to long to read.

I think it's fair to point out that regards Rebecca she was only merely looking after the Caravan Park until Pippa returned, which she never did. She was more babysitting than a real foster parent.

That said I agree with in general with your rankings, though perhaps I'd have Sally lower down.

I think I'd probably put Sally higher. And I'd definitely put Natalie higher, I adored her.The original was nothing special, although she had a few moments of good advice, but when Antoinette Byron took over and moved into the caravan park she was as good as Pippa I thought, always there for Justine, Peta and Rachel as well as her own children and knowing how to smooth things over when Joel got a bit fraught. It's a shame that, like Shelley, she made some odd choices towards the end, having an out of character affair and(temporarily)wrecking her family. But I liked the bond between her and Gypsy that developed as a result, it was what actually made me like Gypsy.

Irene and Beth have got a few black marks(Irene had her own kids taken away from her and often makes bad calls with regards to her children's love lives, Jai being the most recent example, Beth sent most of her children to boarding school, dumped Kit on Irene and committed the cardinal sin of trying to split up Ric and Mattie)so I wouldn't have them so high. Not sure about Judith, she didn't really seem that maternal and had a rather odd relationship with Edward, she admitted herself he hadn't really had any friends before they moved to the Bay and she was used to it just being the two of them.

The only possible omission is Bobby. We didn't see much of her as a mother but she loved Sam like her own and if she'd stuck around I think she'd probably have been the main character when Pippa left.

I don't think I will be able to put them in any order so I will just say who I thought were the in the top ten.

Sally Fletcher, Pippa Ross, Irene Roberts, Shelly Sutherland, Beth Hunter, Jazz Curtis (I know she wasn't the best towards Drew but she really tried and I loved her ), Ailsa Stewart, Leah Patterson-Baker.

Thats only 8 but I can't think of any more.

Ooohh....controversial; Sally or Pippa? Have to have a good think about that and post back later. Natalie Nash? She ruined hew whole family by having an affair! She definitely wouldn't be on my list.

I reckon if Belle was to become a mother she would be excellent. Have you seen her with Ollie. So cute. She would make a great mother one day.

Um...no, I haven't.When was that?(If it's in the last two weeks, that'd be why.)

Yeah Rebecca didnt really do anything .

I cant see why you would have Sal lower down!!

I think she should be a lot higher up.

I think Sally's finest moment was when she protected Cassie from Macca giving her a beating,

The only time I can think of Belle with Oli was when she took him for a bath after having his dinner one time when Kirsty returned with Irene from the police station after being quizzed about Kane’s illegal activities, shortly after he was arrested.
