Brian Posted January 7, 2009 Report Posted January 7, 2009 What's wrong with being a Christian then? Why should Natalie be afraid of being friendly with one? They help a lot of people and certainly Nicole seems a nicer person for being with Geoff.
Mr.Copeland Posted January 9, 2009 Report Posted January 9, 2009 Totally agree, religion is a must in life, how could one live without religion? Nicole has certainly turnt out to be a 'good girl' since being smutten with Geoffrey.
Symphony Posted January 9, 2009 Report Posted January 9, 2009 I guess maybe because they're afraid of what they don't know. Also media sort of shows people for being what they're not - ie all Christians are freaks etc, you know the way you'll find it in all schools, if a young person is very religious they'll more than likely get mocked for it and perhaps bullied! But I think bringing Geoff and Annie and faith in was a great move - showed more diversity.
Zetti Posted January 9, 2009 Report Posted January 9, 2009 I think for some people, Christianity is a threat, they dont want to stop their lifestyle but then they dont realise that religion does mostly accomodate all lifestyles.

Slade Posted January 9, 2009 Report Posted January 9, 2009 Nat probably thinks being friends with a Christian person would cramp her style. She is probably under the illusion that Christian’s are old fashioned, boring, strict, self-righteous etc when of course in reality all lot of them are just the same as most people. Interesting when Geoff and Nicole were at the party at Nat’s place and he was speaking with one of Nicole’s ex mates and told her he wanted to become a minister she just walked off. I guess people that Nicole and Nat socialise with would be like that, i.e. not really wanting to associate with anybody Christian-like. It’s hard to say whether Nicole would have been friends with Geoff if she hadn’t meet him in the bay but in the city for instance. Although during her first few days I do recall her saying to Aden that he was a lot “hotter” than he was before she made the bet to sleep with him. So she was definitely attracted to him. Well at least physically…. Incidentally I don’t think Nicole became a better person because of Geoff (although he’s certainly helped). I think the stuff that happened with Elliot gave her a severe wake up call. I remember shortly after Geoff was being immature and ignoring her and Melody escaped from the clinic, Nicole was being really nice to her and she seemed genuinely concerned for her well being. Even Geoff said to her afterwards “You were amazing Nic”.

Nicole has certainly turnt out to be a 'good girl' since being smutten with Geoffrey. I don't live with religion and my life is fine. Yeah me either!! I used to go to church on Christmas Day but havent now in a few years , I think the world has changed a lot over the past 50 years. Life is now so much faster pace than it used to be with people now only interested in money and careers that theres simply no time left for religion. I reckon that it will die out at some point because life has become way to different than when everyone used to go to church years ago and the trend can only grow. I do think that geoff and Annie work very well as devout Christians and it reflects real life the way theres not many people like them in todays world.
Eduardo Bearo Posted January 10, 2009 Report Posted January 10, 2009 There was a very lengthy and interesting debate last year in the Aus disc forum about the place of religion on the show, and you will find it HERE

Christianity has been around for 2000 years and has spread to even Australia and other religions have been around for a lot longer than that. There have always been chages in the world from one generation to the next, admittedly to a greater extent in the last 50 years. But not everyone is interested in money and careers only; religion gives us a sense of values by which to live our lives, treat other people and make decisions. There are millions of Christians and others in the world today, despite its fast pace, but perhaps that is slowing down in the credit crunch.
I love music Posted January 11, 2009 Report Posted January 11, 2009 Hmm, Christianity's a tough subject. I guess I believe in something but I don't know what . There are so many mysteries in this universe and I don't see how you can see something as beautiful as, say, trees and mountains or the sun setting and not imagine some intelligent creative force behind it all. Seems to me that if we're just born and then die then we're all wasting our time being here in the first place. (Anyway, they've yet to find the so-called "missing link" tho I heard a rumour it could be Alf Stewart! ) But as for the traditional view of God, I don't really go along with that and I hate all the pomp and ceremony and rules that religions often have. I was brought up Catholic (I find churches a bit spooky and only ever visit them for weddings, christenings and funerals) and I don't see why, for instance, there can't be women priests - I also don't see why priests can't marry or have relationships. Most soaps do portray religious characters as either slightly loopy or obsessed tho so it would be nice if H&A struck a balance.
