bikinikill Posted February 15, 2009 Report Posted February 15, 2009 That was awesome Louise. But Aden and his not so subtle hints about who wouldn't want to sleep next to Belle. Not so subtle indeed. I loved that bit with Ric and Mattie. That was great. Looking forward to the next chapter.

Louise_2983 Posted February 15, 2009 Report Posted February 15, 2009 Chapter 27 “Happy, Happy Birthday!” the young voice shouted as he stormed into her room and jumped onto the side of the bed she was not occupying. She let her eyelids flutter open a fraction to be greeted by a stream of bright sunlight surging through the window and instantly closed her eyes tight once more. He was having none of it and began to shake her by the arm. “Wake up!” he ordered in a dictatorial manner as he yanked her arm backwards and forewards haphazardly. “It’s your happy birthday! You have to wake up!” “Morning sweetie” she whispered as she finally admitted defeat and opened her eyes. “Happy Birthday!” he exclaimed, grinning down at her. “Thank you” she smiled, raising a hand to shield her eyes from the bright sunlight. “But what are you doing here? You didn’t stay here last night, where’s your Daddy?” she panicked wondering if he had wandered over by himself again. “He’s in the kitchen making present number 4!! “Present number 4?” she questioned, dropping her hand as she adjusted to the light. “Yep” he nodded his blond head matter of factly. “I missed your birthdays too so now it’s your turn to get lots of presents!” he exclaimed thrusting the bouquet she had only just noticed into her hands as she shuffled up into a sitting position, pulling the duvet up the bed with her. “Aww Jamie, these are beautiful” she smiled, inhaling the strong scent of the white roses. “My favourite too, how did you know?” “I’m psycho!” he smiled proudly. “I think you mean psychic sweetie” she tried to hide her chuckle behind the blooms she was clutching. “That’s what I said! But I’m not really, Daddy told me” he confessed quietly. “Well either way I love them, thank you. But you don’t have to spoil me like this” “Yes I do, it’s your birthday” he grinned, eagerly handing her a rectangular present wrapped in shiny blue paper with a silver bow. “Open it! Open it!” he commanded excitedly and she obeyed, ripping off the paper with reckless abandon. “It’s beautiful” she sighed, tears welling up in her deep brown eyes as she gazed at the antique silver photo frame containing a shot of the two of them taken a few weeks ago on a trip to the beach. Jamie was wrapped in her arms and their eyes were focused on each other rather than on the camera. Her heart swelled with love as she reached over and cleared space for the frame on her bedside table. “There we go, pride of place” she sniffled as his little hands reached out and brushed away her tears. “Don’t cry, it’s your birthday. You’re not supposed to be sad” “I’m not sad sweetie, I’m very, very happy that I’m here with you” “Me too” he grinned, wrapping his arms around her neck as she pulled him into a hug. As she rested her cheek against his temple and felt the gentle pounding of his heart against her own, a surge of contentment flowed through her. She was happy for the first time in a long time. “Open this one now!” he ordered as he pulled back and thrust a tiny box at her, wrapped in the same paper as before. She tore off the gift wrap to find a blue velvet box with the emblem of an expensive jewellery store emblazoned on the top. She lifted the lid carefully to find a silver charm nestled in the centre of the tissue filled box. “You have to put it on your bracelet” Jamie told her as she picked up the shell shaped charm and delicately turned it over in her palm. Nestled in the centre was a natural pearl shining in the sunlight. Her lips curved into a soft smile as she realised where the pearl was from. She had worn a string of them in her hair on their wedding day which had snapped during the passionate activities of that evening and for weeks afterwards she and Aden had found pearls scattered all over the bedroom. That had been the night they had conceived Jamie. As she attached the charm to her bracelet she sighed quietly to herself, her fingertips drifting over the spot where the entwined A and B charms used to hang. She knew this was a present from Aden rather than Jamie and part of her told her that she shouldn’t be wearing it, she should be moving on not hanging onto the past. She was so happy back then but she could be that happy again. She knew however, that Jamie would be offended if she didn’t wear it so it would hang from her bracelet for the rest of her life. “Do you like it?” he asked in anticipation as she realised she hadn’t spoken since he’d handed her the box. “I love it” she replied sincerely. She did love it. She loved both the charm and what it represented. She knew she shouldn’t but she did. “Good” he grinned sweetly. “Now you have to come into the kitchen for number 4!” he ordered trying to pull her out of the bed. “Woah, wait a minute Mr!” she giggled, grasping the duvet around her. “Let me put some more clothes on first! You go and I’ll be there in a minute” “Ok but don’t take a long time!” he ordered as he jumped off the bed. “I won’t” “That’s what Aunt Nicole always says and she takes FOREVER!” he exclaimed as he reached the door. “I’ll be 2 minutes” “Promise?” “Promise” she nodded with a grin as he left and shut the door behind him. She climbed out of bed and glanced at her reflection in the mirror. The strappy top she was wearing clung to her body like a second skin and did nothing to conceal the gentle curve of her expanding tummy. Affectionately she skimmed a flat palm across the tiny bump, rubbing tender circles over where her baby lay. She smiled knowing it was a healthy sign that her body was expanding so that her baby could grow inside her but sighed at the realisation that sooner rather than later her pregnancy was going to be too difficult to conceal and she would have to lie to Aden. She didn’t want to lie to him. It was the last thing she wanted but she couldn’t see any other way. She didn’t want him to choose her just because she was having his baby. She rifled through her wardrobe at a hasty speed, eager to conceal her bump before Jamie would no doubt come back into the room to hurry her up. She rejected various items for being too revealing, eventually settling on an oversized white shirt she found at the back. It would do for now and she would get dressed properly later. “It’s been 6 minutes!” her son’s voice bellowed through the door as she fastened the final button and flung open the door. “Sorry sweetie, it’s a woman’s prerogative to be late” “That’s what Aunt Nicole says too!” he moaned, grabbing her hand and pulling her towards the table. The table was decorated around a centre piece of sunflowers, with breakfast laid out all ready and a huge chocolate birthday cake with 27 candles completing the surprise. “Wow” she smiled, genuinely touched. “I really am being spoilt today” “Happy Birthday” Aden’s voice came from the kitchen and she turned her head to look at him. “Thank you” she smiled coyly as his piercing blue eyes wandered down her body, his eyes lingering on the point where the shirt ended revealing her toned, bare thighs. “Is that my shirt?” he questioned as her heart rate increased, an instant effect of his eyes upon her. “Erm maybe” she shrugged. “It was the first thing to hand, sorry” “No problem” he grinned, the sparkle in his eyes indicating that he appreciated her appearance in his shirt. “Well I’m starving!” she announced playfully, tickling Jamie as she did so. “So if present number 4 is breakfast then I think that’s the best present ever” “You haven’t seen present number 5 yet” Aden smiled nodding towards the seat at the table clearly meant for her. A helium balloon wafted on a silver string above the seat as Jamie gently nudged her towards it. “Oh my gosh” she sighed, tears beginning to rush down her face as she found present number 5 resting on her placemat. “I drawed you a picture” Jamie told her proudly as he climbed onto the seat next to her. “I can see that” she smiled with a sniffle as she gazed at the drawing. Jamie had drawn a trip to the beach. He was there with Aden holding his hand, both clearly labelled “Me” and “Daddy”. Holding the other hand was a female figure with dark, wavy hair. Her label was bold in red crayon and clearly read “Mummy”. “Mummy” she whispered as she continued to gaze at the picture. “I’m ready to call you that now” Jamie announced matter of factly. “That is ok isn’t?” he asked, his eyes wandering over her face trying to work out if she was crying because she didn’t want him to call her Mummy. “Jamie, that is more than ok” she grinned. “That is the best birthday present anyone has ever given me” “Ever?” “Ever” she nodded with a smile. “Good” he grinned. “I love you Mummy” Her heart almost stopped as he gazed at her with affection, his words ringing in her ears. Nothing would ever beat the moment when he first called her Mummy and meant it. “I love you too Jamie... so, so much” she smiled, brushing his cheek tenderly with the back of her hand. “I know” he replied nonchalantly causing her to giggle as she wiped away the tears from her cheeks. “You know what would make things perfect?” she asked him cheekily. “What?” “A birthday kiss, do you think you can stretch to that?” “I don’t know Mummy, you already got lots of presents! Now you’re just being greedy!” he announced causing both Belle and Aden to chuckle. “That told you” Aden laughed, sitting down at the opposite side of her from Jamie and pouring all 3 of them some orange juice. “But I think I can stretch to a kiss” Jamie sighed as if he was making the ultimate sacrifice. “But only because it’s you” “Oh of course” she grinned as he pulled himself up in the chair and pressed his lips gently against her cheek. “Perfect” she smiled as he pulled away and began to gulp down his orange juice. “Now you Daddy” “What?” Aden asked hoping Jamie didn’t mean what he thought he did. “Now you have to give Be-Mummy a birthday kiss because I got her 5 presents and you didn’t get her any!” “I’m sure your presents were enough” he tried to excuse himself. “Oh I don’t know” Belle shook her head cheekily. “I’m kind of greedy...and it is my birthday!” “Which means we have to give her whatever she wants!” Jamie announced loudly. “Do you want a birthday kiss?” he asked his eyebrows arched as he looked at her expectantly. “I might do” she giggled nonchalantly as he leant forward and pressed his lips to her soft cheek. He let them linger there for slightly longer than necessary, his hand curling around the one she rested on her knee under the table. “Happy birthday” he whispered as he finally pulled away. “Thank you” she half sighed, slightly flustered. “Now let’s eat!” she ordered, trying to change the subject. “Well we have everything you could possibly want for breakfast” Aden smiled, gesturing to the feast before them. “Including chocolate cake, you know me so well” she blurted out before the meaning behind what she had said hit her. He did know her. He knew her better than anyone. “That’s for later silly!” “What if I want it now Jamie?” “Then I guess we could eat it now” he whispered conspiratorially. “But Daddy doesn’t let me have chocolate for breakfast” “Well, it’s my birthday so that’s special and I say chocolate cake for breakfast” she grinned pulling the cake towards her. “We have to sing first though!” Jamie announced excitedly. “A serenade as well?” she teased. “I am getting the royal treatment today!” “And you have to make a wish!” “What if I don’t have anything to wish for?” “There must be something you want!” he exclaimed in confusion. “Maybe I’ve got everything I could ever want right here” she announced, dropping a kiss on her son’s forehead and glancing up meaningfully at Aden. “Well then you could make a wish for me?” he told her seriously as Aden lit the candles on her cake. “Because I really, really want a dog!” “I don’t think wishes are transferrable sweetie” she chuckled in amusement at his logic. “But I’ll try just for you” “Or you could just buy me a dog?” he asked, looking up at her expectantly. “Because that would probably work better!” “I don’t think your Daddy would approve of that!” she chuckled before they began to sing Happy Birthday to her. Jamie sang at the top of his voice, completely out of tune and it only served to make her love him even more. If that was even possible When they finished she made a show of blowing out the candles, deliberately pretending not to be able to blow them all out. “I think I’m going to need some help here Jamie” she grinned as he obligingly leant over the cake too and together they blew out the remaining candles. “I made a wish” he grinned cheekily as the last candle was exinguished. “It’s Belle’s cake!” Aden chuckled. “I know that” he sighed. “But she didn’t have anything to wish for so I wished instead! If I get a dog we can share it” he offered, smiling up at her cutely. “Oh I think someone’s going to be disappointed” she laughed looking up at Aden as he cut into the cake and offered her the first slice. “Thank you” she grinned digging her fork straight in and sighing in satisfaction. “That is like heaven in chocolate form” she grinned sticking out her fork for Jamie to try. “Yum!” he announced licking his lips as he took a bite. “I want a really big piece Daddy” “You can so clean up when he’s sick later!” Aden half hissed at her as she grinned cheekily. “But it’s my birthday!” “Then you better hope he’s not sick then hadn’t you?” he chuckled eating a spoonful of fruit salad. “I won’t be sick!” he told them adamantly. “Well if you are, make sure it’s when you’re back home and Kirsty has to clean it up!” Belle replied causing Jamie to giggle. They sat in silence for a while, content and happy as they ate. Belle smiled to herself as she watched them, her son and his father. She loved them both and she wished they could stay like this forever. “I have to go to the bathroom!” he suddenly announced jumping of his chair and running out of the room. “Don’t go anywhere!” “Where would we go?” Aden chuckled to Belle as she continued to eat her cake. “It was probably directed at me” she sighed. “Belle!” he scolded her. “Stop it! He trusts you. He’s calling you Mummy, I would have thought this would have been up there as one of the best days of your life” “It is” she smiled softly. “Well then, stop beating yourself up about the past!” “Thanks for this” she grinned, changing the subject. “Nothing to do with me, it was all Jamie” “Right” she laughed. “So he made breakfast and paid for the antique photo frame and the charm?” “He put it on his credit card, he’ll be sorry when the bill arrives at the end of the month” Aden grinned cheekily. “Seriously Aden” she smiled, her fingertip running over the shell charm hanging from her silver bracelet. “I love it, it’s beautiful” “You know where the pearl’s from right?” “Of course I know, those were good times” “We were so happy back then” he whispered softly. “I’m happy now” she smiled. “As in right this second?” he prompted. “Well yeah that too, but I meant in general. I have Jamie and he’s calling me Mummy and I’m back here where I belong with my all my friends around me. I’m happy Aden” “That’s good” his lips smiled but his eyes radiated sadness. “Are you Aden?” “Am I what?” “Happy?” she clarified, gazing at him knowingly. “Right now” he nodded. “And what about in general?” she prompted, her hand sliding over the one he had rested on the table. “I d-” “Daddy!” Jamie’s voice yelped out in distress from the bathroom causing Belle to whip her hand away from Aden’s in an instant. “What is it mate?” he called out, remaining calm. “I’ve been sick!” he cried loudly as Belle burst into a fit of giggles.
