emmasi Posted October 15, 2008 Report Posted October 15, 2008 If it shows that a couple is liked enough to have their own name, then why is it that only the couples from the last few years actually have these couple names? Some of the most popular couples in the show's history have never been referred to by names like these. Even going back a couple of years, couples like Robbie and Tasha, Sally and Brad, Sally and Flynn... I don't recall any of those couples having special names. Was there a special name for Ric and Mattie? I don't remember ever seeing it if there was! I blame Panda (Pete and Amanda) for the surge in H&A names. It was insufferably cute. I don't think there's been one that good since, but people keep trying. My personal favourite is Lassie (Luc/Cassie) but it never happened Incidentally, Robbie and Tash were unofficially referred to as "Rash" on occasions, and Sally and Brad got "Brally." Ric and Mattie were Ritilda or Rattie - I think the latter was mostly adopted by people who didn't like them so much, or at least didn't care if they didn't have the most charming name Rim (Robbie/Kim) is an interesting one... and produced the unfortunate name of Kachel for Kim and Rachel, since Rim was already taken. I quite like Kiki for Kim and Kit, I find that cute And going back further, I believe that Kirsty and Kane got "KK" even before the fad started. J&M must have happened early on too since they stuck with the initials. Some people attempted "Mack" but since that was already a nickname that Tasha called Martha (Mackenzie), it was confusing. It's a rich and interesting history, but the short answer is - abbreviation out of laziness and/or cuteness. Adelle sounds nice because it's a real name. CaR (Charlie and Roman) is just silly, but I stand by it
