MissOlivia22 Posted May 22, 2009 Report Posted May 22, 2009 ^^^ Lol, I know! Theres loads of pics on PattinsonLife. I don't think I'd pay that much money!
Jayde Posted May 22, 2009 Report Posted May 22, 2009 It's a supposed leak of an early draft of the script. Either that or someone spent time writing a 150 odd page fake.... I have it, read some of it, had to go out and haven't bothered reading the rest. I'm not sure if i want to be that spoiled that's weird then - because the thing about 'no marraige proposal' is on a website, but the fact taht people have scripts sort of double crosses that .. hmm! unless you're right - I wouldn't put it past some Twilight eejit to sit down and write a fake script! Did you guys hear about the auction at Cannes last night?! Two people paid $20,000 each to meet, greet & get a kiss on the cheek from Rob - crazy money!! Ohhh it doesnt surprise me, after seeing a Twilight auction with my own eyes I know people would bid any kind of money. xD
Symphony Posted May 25, 2009 Report Posted May 25, 2009 Thought you guys might get a kick out of reading some of this; it's a response i posted on a SIM game in reply to people who were giving out about twilight being badly written [funnily enough, they were the ones that don't like the series ;] It's lacking in italics / bold because I've already posted it. To be honest, I find it somewhat amusing that people get so worked up over the topic of Twilight being too influencial in its topics; I mean, I've heard of this incest being brought up, but I don't truly see where it comes into play? None of the characters being in relationships are [actually] related [unless I missed something between Bella and Charlie ] Paedophilia? Eh, where? Yes, Jacob imprints on Renesmee, and one of the others imprints on a two year old, but do we actually see them kissing them, and making inappropriate gestures? Eh - no. I believe Stephanie went to extreme lengths to explain [through Jacob] how the imprinting works, and that is doesn't come into play in a romantic sense until the child is old enough. I could go on. SO yeah, I honestly don't see people reading Twilight and then thinking, 'omg look at that gorgeous baby, i want to fall in love with it' pfft. If you're going to be [that] nitpicky, look at Harry Potter; how many of you non-Twilighters are HP Fans? Even though JK Rowling has admitted that Dumbledor is [gasp] gay and surrounded by young boys? Oh dear, oh dear, do you not wonder what he's up to behind the scenes that we don't see? Forbid us all that a male teacher should, in the future, become headmaster of a boys boarding school, lest he be influenced by the thoughts of being gay thanks to Harry Potter. I admit parts of this will come across perhaps as childish, but.. I am so speechless at much of what I've read on this post! I have a few quotes that people say here, which I'm going to put in italics - but am not quoting who said it, lest I get people's backs up at being singled out. Page 1: "Its terrible that kids aren't reading the classics anymore which are actually well written literature with good morals, and instead they're reading immoral, trashy Twilight." I'm interested to know what you would call a classic. I would have thought, considering Breaking Dawn, on its first day sold 1.3 million copies, Twilight would be on its' way to being considered a 'classic' now, no? Naturally, I agree, there are parts of Twilight [such as the last book] which are NOT suitable for children; yet, if you go into bookstores, the majority have Twilight in their childrens' sections, which I do disagree with - but that's not necessarily Meyer's fault, as she specified that Twilight is not for children ; Page 1: I don't understand what's so great about Twilight, The book is full of errors and Bella is so shallow and whiny." <-- so just because you dislike one of the main characters, it becomes a 'not good book' - as for errors, again, not the writer's fault; that would be down to the proof readers. Page 1: I know if I become a vamp high school is the last place I wanna be. <-- Eh..? Why? I mean, isn't that a core part of the story; that they live in a human place, and, because they have eternity on their hands, want to keep occupied, so why not go to school? Page 1: I was a kid who read like there was no tomorrow and had read books like the Green Mile (Stephen King's book, not exactly what I would give little kids to read but I was rather strange... xD) by the time I was 12. <-- so you get leeway to read books like the Green Mile, in which a man is put in prison for killing two young girls, along with a bunch of other prisoners for heinious crimes, but other kids can't read Twilight... hmmm. Page 1: The pizza that Edward ate and threw up in the first book? <-- was that in the cafeteria? I don't think he threw it up? In fact I'm 99% sure he didn't.... Page 1: Yes, kids should be reading things that give them good standards for literature, <-- that was direct at the person who read Green Mile by Stephen King by the time she was 12. A little insert, when I was a kid, I read up to seven books a day, because - I was shy and introvert back then. And yes, I read all your mentioned books; Judy Blume, Julie of the Wolves, Island of the Dolphins - also loved the Sweet Valley series, Babysitters Club, Saddle Club, to mention but a few. Page 3: Edward just needs bella to 'live on'. Um. Aren't you dead? <-- Er, no, he's not dead. He [was] dying when Carlisle turned him to a vampire. So now, he lives eternally - he's not the 'undead' as someone else said. I think that would be a ghost / spirit :] Page 4: I'm flipping out cuz she is ignoring and dissing some very amazing books if favor of a badly written series that SM should be embarrassed for writing :/ <-- and who are you to say it's badly written, aside from your own opinion of course, which you are entitled to - but ... aside from that ..? Page 4: I had started the first book, but I lost interest and instead chose to read I Choose To Live. Wow, I'd prefere a true story of a girl kidnapped by a pedophile over the peice of crud that now lies on my bedroom floor. <-- so you didn't like it, fair enough. Does that make it bad? Or just not your style? I don't like the Artemis Fowl series, but I wouldn't call them 'bad, pathetic writing' - just, something that doesn't appeal to me. Page 4: I personally like Twilight but when everyone flipped about how great the Potter dude was I didn't go around ranting and crying about it. <-- finally a response that isn't based upon the book being terrible just because that person in question doesn't like it. Now you, I would applaud :] Page 5: I don't blame it on Twilight any more than I blame Harry Potter. Or the Red Wall series (which has a lot of critics btw.) Or the Star Wars series in the mid-90's. Kids get hooked on what they get hooked on. It's the parents who are supposed to force the classics. <-- and you, I would applaud you too, as you also are not blaming Twilight for corrupting children, or for being 'useless writing' because it doesn't appeal to you! As the above poster said, it's up to [parents] to control what their children read. Saying it's Stephanie's fault, or makes Twilight bad writing, is like saying that adult forums, or sites, or even teenage sites should not be allowed on the internet in case they corrupt children. Bah! It's all about parents laying down the guidelines for what their children can read / look up / watch on tv, etc. After all, that's what parents are supposed to do - be responsible, and work to their best of their abilities to raise their children. Why should the rest of the world have to suffer just because some kids read books that they shouldn't be at that age? Now, this has possibly been the longest post I've ever written on FP, and to be honest, I could write a whole lot more but I won't. I'd just like to make a few points before anyone gets the idea that I'm a 'bratty kid' who talks more than she thinks. # I'm 23 # I've read & watched Twilight # I enjoyed it # I [do not] assume that something is badly written / made just because I don't like it. Sorry. This really got to me. I'd have replied in kind if it had been Harry Potter, or any other 'huge' bestselling book / series that was being picked on, not just because it's Twilight. It's a pesky irritation of mine when people put something down and say it's worthless / useless / badly written / composed just because they don't like it, rather than because it actually [is] worthless etc. Who am I to say they're wrong? I'm nobody; but you just need to look at the sales statistics for each of the books, the film, the merchandise, to know that obviously something goes right for Twilight ... And, I doubt the literary world would be so supportive of the series if it was, truly, horrific as you all say. Now I sit back and look over my ginormous post - Symphony
MissOlivia22 Posted May 27, 2009 Report Posted May 27, 2009 You all like Robert Pattinson right.... Shirtless much:(spoiler) http://community.livejournal.com/pattinson...935.html#cutid1 Just in case anyone wants something to ogle at.....
valli Posted May 27, 2009 Report Posted May 27, 2009 Yummy Okay, this isn't working. I was supposed to be studying for a test tomorrow, not drooling over some pictures. If I get a bad grade tomorrow, I'm blaming Rob! Well, it'd be my fault... anyway. And Symphony... you go girl! I can't stand it when people bash Twilight for being badly written just because they personally didn't like it. I don't think they quite see that on the matter of whether a book is good or bad (same goes for acting and a lot of other things, even some of the grades you get at school) are subjective. I remember reading a discussion once where one poster claimed that everyone who doesn't think that Summer Glau is extremely hot is either a fat, ugly cow or gay. And he believed so because he personally felt that way. He obviously didn't realise that opinion does not equal fact. The whole discussion was rather amusing though Anyway, what really annoys me with the whole Twilight vs Harry Potter, is that a lot of people (or some... I'm not actually too sure about how many people share the following opinion. There's definitely a lot of them on the forums I read ) claim that Stephenie didn't have the guts to kill off a main character whereas JK Rowling did. Excuse me, but JK Rowling did not kill off any of the real main characters. First of all, Dumbledore really was just an old man and technically had more of a supporting role than a main role. Same goes for the others that were killed, except for Voldemort. And I really don't think that many people were heartbroken as a result of his death So neither of the authors killed off any of the real main characters. I put it in spoiler tags just in case someone who reads this hasn't finished the last Harry Potter book and/or Breaking Dawn. And lastly, something that really gets on my nerves, is how some of the "anti-Twilight" people bash those who like Twilight just because they personally don't like it. Everyone's entitled to their opinion and to defend it, but it's not cool to bash someone just because they do not share the same view as themselves. /End of rant
