Solarbaby Posted February 2, 2009 Report Posted February 2, 2009 I don't understand how some people can get so obsessed with books like that. Don't get me wrong, I love Twilight and I loved the movie. But still, it's essentally a romance novel about about a human and vampire who sparkles! People get crazy about the strangest things (says the girl who's wearing a t-shirt that says 'I kissed a vampire and liked it'). They pushed you in the river? You must have been freezing! I hope you threw another snowball at them (then ran otherwise you might have taken another dunk in the water).
Cerise Posted February 2, 2009 Report Posted February 2, 2009 Well, they were gone by the time I got out of the river, and I was bleeding as well so I wasnt gonna be running after em.
valli Posted February 2, 2009 Report Posted February 2, 2009 Oh holy ****! Those people are crazy! Right now I'm just glad that the Jonas Brothers or Zac Efron fans aren't as violent as that, because then I'd be dead by now Like... seriously... Attempted drowning of a fifth grader?! Wtf?!
KaitieL Posted February 3, 2009 Report Posted February 3, 2009 ^^ LMAO!!! I think some people get a little too obsessed with it.
valli Posted February 3, 2009 Report Posted February 3, 2009 Stephen King: "Meyer can't write worth a darn" King, whose Stephen King Goes to the Movies collection came out last week, doesn’t know how much of an influence he had on Meyer, but he does know that Rowling read his stuff when she was younger. "I think that has some kind of formative influence the same way reading Richard Matheson had an influence on me," King explains. "People always say to me, 'Well, what about H.P. Lovecraft?' And the thing was, you read Lovecraft when you were a kid but I never felt that he was speaking my language. It was chillier than my heart was, and when Matheson started to write about ordinary people and stuff, that was something that I wanted to do. I said, 'This is the way to do it. He’s showing the way.' I think that I serve that purpose for some writers, and that’s a good thing. Both Rowling and Meyer, they’re speaking directly to young people. ... The real difference is that Jo Rowling is a terrific writer and Stephenie Meyer can’t write worth a darn. She’s not very good." --------------------- Naww, how sweet of you SK. Aren't you just the nicest person on this planet... not! Seriously, grow up. I like your books, but now I don't like you. It's your loss! After thinking about what he said, I've reached the conclusion that him saying that Stephenie isn't a good writer is practically the same as Kristen claiming that Disney actors can't act [something I agree with, btw]. It's not the most professional thing to say, but the man must be allowed to express his opinion. Of course he could have said it in a better way, but meh. Done is done. I still don't agree with him, but I'll defend his right to say his opinion Anyway, I think the main difference between Rowling and Meyer is that while Meyer is a good storyteller but not so much a good writer, Rowling is a good writer but a bad storyteller (she completely ruined the HP series. I have blocked out book 5, 6 and 7 because they were so annoying and cringeworthy. The first 4 were okay, except for Harry being a complete jerk, but she completely ruined it with the end of the fourth one. That's my opinion anyway).
Cal Posted February 3, 2009 Report Posted February 3, 2009 I agree about Stephanie, HM. Her writing isn't the best, but she knows how to tell a story and I think that's the main thing. Never did I forget anything in the Twilight Saga. I think her being repetitive is a good thing. It makes you remember certain things that you are most likely to forget. One thing she keeps repeating is the coldness of Edward's skin. She uses it over and over, but I would have forgotten that Edward (and other vampires) were cold because they're so human.

I agree shes not the greatest writer but they have an excellent plot. One of the things that you can actually see in the series is how much better a writer she became. If you compare Twilight and Eclipse thre is a great improvement in the writing. Anyway I think Stephen King just said this for the publicity! By the way has anyone seen Tylor Lautner. He has an 8PACK! This is good because I am team Jacob! I hope they don't ruin the movie by trying to have Rob in it for the whole thing, because this is the book when we get to know about Jacob!
Tamxxx Posted February 8, 2009 Report Posted February 8, 2009 OMG guys, i just finished reading all four books and i loved it. I'm so team jacob i love his carefree personality edward is too intense, and btw i really don't think bella's character is very exciting for someone as gorgeous as edward!
