Has H&A's quality suffered since Bevan Lee's departure?

Yeah - I'm surprised that Irene's drinking didn't rear its ugly head for the 20th TBH. I'd like to see that come back to bite her somehow.

Also

if Ross does cark it

can we see something on Morag's backstory, especially with Bobby, where I think there's unfinished business.

Yes Morag is a very complex character and after all this time I dont think we have seen everything there is to see from her.Would love to see her reaction and her behaviour if

Ross dies

.I agree I think it is surprising that Irene hasnt started drinking because it would be an amazing storyline.

True - but having thought about it, realistically she wouldn't go there. Not now.

I've said in the Irene thread though that she needs a new love interest - and falling in love with someone (unbeknowst to her) who is "on the grog" would be not just an interesting storyline but a brilliant way to use her backstory.

They already did that with Ken though. Poor Irene has terrible trouble with men, so it's hardly surprising she's steered clear for so long! But I think it's about time they brought in a gorgeous bachelor for her. I'm still hoping for Paris to return one day - he could bring along his niece and nephew and Irene could knock them into shape.

Yes Paris should return but didnt I see him in Neighbours recently??It was propably only a guest role and I think if he was approached he would return.

H&A has been unbearably boring since Sal's departure/Sam's murder. The new characters have been rushed in and have established relationships with existing characters way too easily. Ruby went from being a new kid in school one day to seemingly knowing everyone inside out the next.

Roman, Nicole and Charlie don't work in my opinion, besides the fact I don't like them they've come to the fore too quickly. It seems like Roman hasn't been off the screen since around the time Sally left. Yet we've rarely seen old favourites like Irene & Leah since. One major thing I've noticed since Sally left is how the balance between the screen time given to older characters and teens has eroded. H&A is at its best when it is focusing on its older character as proved by the first 3 months of this year but since then however we've had a over kill of teens. Not helped by the fact that there is so many of them and that they are the dullest bunch in years.

As mentioned in this thread the show is missing central characters. Central characters need to be established characters, Miles is a great great character but is too new, the character needs to be built up. Kirtsy is a likeable character but isn't a strong enough character or actress to be in a central couple as like someone said once you are a couple in the Summer Bay House thats what you are.

I like the fact that Leah is jealous but I see no chemistry between her & Miles and the whole thing just undermines her character. Couldn't they have thought up of something else for the character instead of falling for someone else so soon after husband has died. Leah should easily have become the central character after Sally left, like Sally she now has a a rich history but she does need to be built up a bit and given more depth.

Another uninteresting couple is Rachel & Tony. Like WTF, they dated for 5 minutes and are now getting married and planning a family? And again they have no chemitsry together, it just smacks of "We don't know what to do with these two characters so we paired them off"

From the moment Milco turned up until Sally left the show was brilliant. I've watched the show pretty much since the beginning and I never saw it on such a high but oh boy the show has fallen so much since.

Yes Snapp I agree that the show was fantastic until Sal's departure and went downhill very quickly afterwards.Yes I agree we need a central character but I dont know who could pull it off though.I really dont think Leah could do the job because she is a very boring character and has had a small amount of storylines over the years like Sally had.But the writers embraced Sal and gave her some of the most rivetting storylines the Bay has ever seen over the last few years.I honestly think the show could benefit greatly from Sally returning because it would give us a huge amount of familiarity the show has been lacking greatly over the past few months with the new characters and the new sets. Also yes actually now that you mention it Rachel and Tony are very pointless and I dont see a point to them really.Their relationship is very boring and wooden as is Miles and Kirstys relationship. The teens are really starting to get on my nerves ,I mean come on I have never seen such a stupid and bad actor as Jai.He is totally boring and pointless and is very shallow in characterwise.Bevan created Miles character and you can see the difference between some of the new characters.Miles became a very deep character very quickly which i believe was Bevans intention and he was very interesting and I think the current writers are undoing Bevan's work on Miles,he is becoming soooo boring to the point of switching off .Dont even get me started on Kirsty!!

I have tro agree with all that you,ve said Snapp about how dull Home and Away has got since Sallys Departcher, Bringing Miles in when Sally was about to leave was a shame But I will say Miles is a good character who need time to Build as for Leah I,ve had my ups and Downs with her but she cant hold the show on her own as for Rachel &Tony no match they are not suited they would have been fr better bringing in a new woman for Tony if they wanted him to have a love life, and dont get me started on the teens I have never seen such dull people and I,ve been watching Home and Away for 20 years its a shame they couldnt think up some thing better for there birthday year.

Yeah Ive never seen such a boring and absolutely disastrous teen group in the show in like ever.Annie,Jai,Geoff,Melody,Nicole,Belle and Aden. I can safely say that I cant stand 1 of them.

I agree with you also that Tony and Rachel are not really suited and Leah's character has been run into the ground ever since Sally left the bay.

I would love it so so much if Sally returned,it would make Miles more bearable and add some interest to his cahracter.

Dont even get me started on Aden and Belle,I cant bear to look at the screen when they come on and I hate what they did to Angelo but I suppose it is in keeping with her cahracter

we need Jazz back asap and maybe Peter and Amanda as well.Jazz adds a great touch to the show in general.

Also Martha need Jack need to sort themselves out although they have been a lot more bearable over the past few months when for the first time theyve had storylines that did not revolve around theyre relationship and theyre constant breaking up.

The toxic waste has been going on forever and I wish it would end very soon.
