Has H&A's quality suffered since Bevan Lee's departure?

I really think the writing on Home And Away is not a patch on Bevans writing at the beginning of the year .At the start of Home and Aways 21st season I have seen some of the best storylines yet and the writing has been amazing.Would you agree? It has become quite boring lately to be honest!!Bevan had me on the edge of my seat from her arrival right up till the end of her reign. The olympic cliffhanger also wasnt anything compared to recent years .We got a cliffhanger with Martha-will she live or die. When it was blatant obvious that she wasnt going to die!!!I think we should launch a bring Bevan back campaign dont you think!!

Shouldn't their be a spoiler on this? I agree that it hasn't been quite as good lately, there's been some storylines I thought would be quite exciting like Rics fighting and then have fallen a bit flat. Plus with my favourite characters leaving it's not quite the same. I just hope they get a new intelligent and nice girl (and talented actress) in to replace Mattie I haven't liked there recent hirings.

Yes I agree the characters that have been added recently have been very bad and feels a little bit over the top with new characters coming at us left right and centre but i suppose its all inevitable with a lot of people quitting last year at the same time.It has a whole new feel to it and there is very little characters left that have been in it since 2006.Also I think its a very different place with no Sally obviously because she has been there since the beginning, she has been gone 5 months already believe it or not.Miles and Kirstys relationship is very boring to watch and I press fast forward when they come on.The only thing I am interested in is the Melody storyline and am excited to see where the writers take it.I really miss my favorite character which is Cassie,it would have been really interesting to see how she would have coped looking for love but I dont think thenewriters would be able to pull it off.

I am really enjoying the new characters, especially Ruby and Charlie, and am enjoying the storylines, apart from the Kirsty & Miles relationship. I think the show has coped well considering quite a few cast members left, especially with no Sally! Miles is a marvelous distraction. I'm also pleased because a few characters have gone which I never liked, Cassie and

Matilda.

So far I've continued to be impressed with the writing. I feel there are some storylines I haven't taken too like Martha's and the Charlie/Roman thing but other storylines more then make up for that. I guess you can't like everything. BUT When you are on a high for so long there's bound to be a time when the quality will go down though I think they haven't reached it yet.

If you'd asked me this a few weeks ago, I'd have agreed, and I'm a huge Bevan fan - oh yeah, Bevan's a he by the way!

I definitely felt as if the show had lost its character stuff, but somethings happened to the show since the return, I don't know what, but so far its for the better, it feel's like there is more thought going into each scene - and we are getting more talking scenes...etc They still need to sort out what should take priority within an episode, such as Irene - they seem to insist on having her do nothing - we've had a million opportunities to show some really strong scenes between her and Belle (to show us how close they are meant to be too) but its not happening.

There is also a lack of warmth due to this reason, and lacking a Pippa type character imo, but anyway, what we have been getting since the show returned, imo, has been for the most part, has been great.

Anyway, I just hope they can keep fleshing out the storylines and start injecting more family based directions/scenes into the Beach House like it used to thrive off (pre 2004).

Actually guys I think its on the way back up since after the olympics and the episodes have become very watchable and there has been some great emotional scenes between characters which have been missing for a while

Bevan would never have allowed KK to split up, so for that reason my answer to the question is yes, the quality has suffered. There are other aspects to the show at the moment that I'm not keen on (for example, I hated the way they wrote Dan out, I don't like Charlie, and I think the Martha storyline was a terrible idea) but I appreciate that they're never going to please everyone all of the time. But the KK thing has angered me. Unless the writers have some big master plan that involves an eventual reunion for the two of them (which I still believe is possible, especially as Sam Atwell is still involved with the show behind the scenes), I don't think it's something that Bevan would ever have sanctioned.

Yes I think it was a big mistake splitting them up because I think they did not emphasise Kirsty and Kanes love for each other enough because only a few weeks after Kane was sent down Kirsty is now

in a relationship with Miles

which I think seriously contradicts the idea that they were so in love that we were made to accept before they left.but I am still holding out for a happy ending for Kirsty and kane

as he is returning to the show

.I think they short-changed Dan by not giving him a proper exit storyline but instead his exit was made out to be all about Sally.Yes I agree Marthas storyline has been really bad and has no meaning or purpose whatsoever.I think the cancer storyline was only a plot device to

kill off the baby

.However there was one aspect of the storyline i thought was written very well and that was when Martha had a mastectomy which is very traumatising for a woman.
