Will we have a break for Christmas as well?

Right now we are only around 5 weeks behind, and usually we only have a 2 week Christmas break, so unless we're going to be literally a day behind 0z, they're going to have to take if off air for longer :(

Only five weeks. I actually thought we were about 7-8 weeks behind. I wouldn’t mind Five taking Home & Away off air for about a month as long as they compensate by doing more of their Home and Away specials. And I do hope they aren’t like the ones shown during the summer as they were a huge disappointment (although the ones shown about 3-4 weeks ago were better). The reason being, that almost all the episodes were simply far too recent. I loved the early years stuff and was extremely disappointed when Five discontinued it. Oh well.

I think we are actually seven weeks behind. It's only really the past year that Channel 5 have been in danger of catching up with the Australian transmissions.I don't know how I feel about the gap shortening:it's unfortunate that in this day and age it's very easy to hear about what's going on in Australia so by the time it appears over here it does sometimes feel like old news. But we could also end up with a situation like the last years of ITV, where they were only a week behind at one point and had to drop back to four nights a week to avoid catching up.

I would like to be able to watch them as they air on the TV but I just cant resist downloading the Aus eps so itd be nice if we were closer.

I would say that we will have about 3 or 4 week maybe even 5 weeks break at Christmas to be honest. :(

i cant resist downloading either!

but to be honest i don't know why we cant just have upto date eps - so were in time with them - im happy to let them have enders and corrie the same day as us - that is my bargining

We don't have those shows^

It's strange to think you guys have caught up pretty much, I remember when you were over a year behind.

On 7 they do have that 'fast track' where we get shows like Desperate Housewives or something like that a day after US or the same day... maybe it couldn't work for a continuing show like Home and Away.

thanks alexx - there not as good as h&a anyway...

but i think its a bit silly now days not to allow us to have them as we can find out to easily what is going on

no it not fair andif ur anything like me you cant wait to find out whats going on so i always find out from the ozzy sites and you tube so its not like a surprise when i watch it in the uk - i think we should catch up

maybe we could start a pertition or something

Thats a well good idea. I think all UK viewers should start a petition on here

according to soap scoop on digital spy

Five's Aussie soaps will continue as normal until the week before Christmas. Neighbours' final episode of 2008 will air on Thursday, December 18, while Home and Away goes on hiatus the following day (Friday, December 19). Both shows will return to air on Monday, January 5.

However, i guess they could be showing specials ...
