He disappoints me...

I was really pleased with Kane when he became a hero and part of the Sutherland clan and summer bay in general as well as marrying Kirsty in early 2004. He really had changed and moved heaven, hell n' earth to win the hearts and trust of summer bay. I mean really proved himself he wasn't the evil guy he was in 2001.

But now in 2008 after stealing from the den and robbing the jewelry's shop he has lost summer bay and the Sutherlands once again. This time forever. Kane has disappointed me now. He has let his evil past catch up with him. He has gone back to 2001 evilness again.

To be honest with you I'm more disappointed with the writers. I feel that Kane committing the robbery was out of character - Yes we all know he's done a lot of bad stuff in the past but he gradually reformed himself over several years and when he left in 2005 he was a hardworking law-abiding citizen. This is another example of yet another returning character that has been ruined (others include Shelly, Jesse and Chloe).

In regards to the Sutherlands although Dani forgave him I still feel that Reece and Shelly always harboured some form of dislike or even hatred (quite understandably) and I don’t think he fully won them over. They had no choice but to accept the relationship because there was no way they could split up Kirsty and Kane.

It is obvious to me from the most recent episode and during their whole time in the bay that Kirsty will always forgive Kane (assuming that he doesn’t hurt her or Oliver). Let’s face it there was the stuff that happened with Dani, the robbery he admitted he was involved with Scott when he first met Tasha and the burglaries he committed on the night Dani accidentally ran him over.

I didn't really know how to take Kane when he first appeared back into the bay. The whole wanting to give Oliver up was really sad. . .the fact that he was the cutest child ever didn't help! I hate the whole I'm in jail now move on story line - it was more or less the same with Jesse and Leah. Like does Kane really think that she can just do that, after everything she went through with him, being on the run for 3 years, being with him despite how her family felt etc. . I thought they were going to try reopen his old case? But I guess with Morag gone for 3 months that won't be happening now.

You just can't expect your wife/husband to forget about you and move on, and its even worse when there is a child involved.

Yes, Kane was a law-abiding citizen when he left the Bay but back then he had a home, a job and friends and it was a lot easier to be good.Being on the run, it's not surprising that some of his less desirable traits resurfaced and I find his actions plausible if disappointing.

I never thought he won the approval of the Sutherlands and the others. Both Kane and Kirsty forced their relationship on everyone, threatening them into understanding.

I used to be under the spell of K&K but then realized they did nothing but hurt people. And now, in 2008, I see that Kirsty is the only who has grown up and realized.

I've always been a huge K/K fan, and also a fan of Kane himself. I've loved the character and always thought that he was strongly written and consistant. I really believed in the character. I still love him now and although the whole stealing money from the Den and then the robbery was wrong I can understand why he did it. What I see is a desperate man trying to support his wife and sick child and not being able to hold down a stable job or provide them with a stable life. I'm by no means saying it excuses the stealings but it does explain why he did it. Let's not forget that he was innocent of the crime he was accused of and is running because of, if anything the law has let him down.

I can understand Kane committing the robberies, he was desperate for the money to look after Kirsty and Ollie - tho Yabbie Creek (I think that was where the robbery took place  ) was a little too close to Summer Bay.

It was totally out of character for Kane to run when the security guard got hurt, he would have been much more likely to stay to make sure he was alright even if it meant getting caught. The Kane/Kirsty relationship hasn't got the old magic somehow either. I'm not sure what's wrong, but it doesn't seem right most of the time. It has its moments, but it's a very rushed story as if Sam Atwell is needed behind the camera asap!

I dont like the way that they've made him go bad, I'd hoped they'd be able to be in the bay together for a while. also thought kirsty was a bit whiny the way she kept saying 'go to the police' etc, she started to get on my nerves, and she was really attitudey in the police station which i didnt think rang true, all in all i didnt really like that part of the storyline.

I know what you mean. Since they've been back, I don't recall seeing them kiss each other once or declare their love for one another.

As stark contrast to how things were a few years ago.
