Bring Vinnie Back!

What was the point of revealing that Vinnie was alive if he was never going to return? After Dan's death it seems that it would be a great time to bring a resolution to the Vinnie/Leah story. I know Ryan Kwanten is an awesome actor and played the role to a T, but the storyline hasn't been resolved like it should have been had he not become a working Hollywood actor. I think the producers could ask him to return for a couple of weeks to resolve the storyline. If not why not a recast? Sure it won't be the same Vinnie but to tell you the truth if Ryan was to return now it wouldn't be the same anyway. Enough time has passed and I'm sure they can find an actor just as charismatic and energetic as Ryan was, I know because they found one with Tim Cambell. I'm not saying bring him back long term and I'm not saying bring him back so Leah and him can walk off into the sunset together with their happy ending it wouldn't be fair on Leah as a character and how she has grown without him, I just think there needs to be some kind of resolution, a letter and a bear suit doesn't cut it. What do you guys think? Would you like to see Vinnie return? Would you not like him to be recasted? I'm a fan of recasts because the story is more important.

I'd love to have him back too! No one else could play him the same though! It depends who's writing too, if it's a different writer they might not be able to make him the same.

I would love for Vinnie to return but a recast would have massive shoes to fill. Ryan was just so awesome as Vinnie, I don't see anyone else bringing the charisma to the role, that he brought. Plus the chemistry him and Ada had was unique and it would be very hard, even for a talented actor, to bring that back and also to become the V-man.

Also I agree with Daisyap, the writers would need to be able to recreate at the same high level, maybe too much time has passed for that to work.

If Ryan were to reprise his role as Vinnie then that would be perfect, but I don't see that happening.

Any one else as Vinnie would be very hard to accept, just as any one other than Kate playing Sally would be hard to accept. Ryan was and is Vinnie. There are some characters who just can not be dissociated from the actor as far as viewers are concerned and Vinnie is one of them, no matter how good they are. I thought. for example that Ella Scott Lynch was a far superior actress to Bec Cartwright, but to many viewers Bec will always be Hayley. To me Ryan will always be Vinnie. I believe that Ryan Kwanten promised Ada he would return when she leaves the show, so maybe he will keep that promise and Vinnie will return to reclaim Leah and VJ and drive off into the sunset. Who knows.

I'm not sure if a recast would work though. Like Bareenfan said, there's only certain characters where a recast wouldn't work, like Sally, Alf, Morag etc... Ryan made that character his own, he brought alot of enthusiasm to it, I'm not sure how it would work if someone else had to play that role... If someone like Tony or Rachel had to be recast it would work, because their characters are just the "normal" folk of the Bay. Vinnie was The V Man and was a VERY popular character, still six years after he has left. Vinnie was an individual, unlike many characters that come and go. It's just like saying to recast Carrie for the SATC movie or Buffy in future projects that the Joss fans want done... It wouldn't work because those actors made it THEIR character. Recasts have worked well in the past, because it was from characters who never attributed much to the show... Flynn was a doctor and Hayley was a widow... Recasting someone like Tasha or Robbie wouldn't work IMO either, becuase you can just pick out the outstanding characters from the ones who dont do much.

I'm never losing faith with Ryan returning to the show though. He said that he'll return once Ada leaves.

yeah that would be my dream ending too, them driving off into the sunset, tho I dont want Ada to leave either! cant please me! but i'm such a stickler for happy endings.

So, like i said in the actor/character appreciation thread.. Ryan Kwanten now has a regular role on a new HBO horror/dramedy called "True Blood".

And i don't like the idea of recasting a character like Vinnie.
