Anyone else agree that too many main characters have left the show in so close of time in the past month or so?

It started with Lucas then Dan,Drew,Cassie and Sally.We also had Brad leave a few months prior to the rest.

Abit overboard in my opinion i know you could argue that change is good and its a start of a new era so to speak,just a alittle excessice if you ask me!

I think it was more just a coincidence above anything else. Rhys finished his contract early and Kate as we all know decided to leave. Sharni and Tim were at the end of their three year contracts and decided not to renew.

IMO, the show would have been trying to keep 3 of the 5, but were unsuccessful. I think Drew leaving wasn't a major loss and I don't think TPTB would have lost much sleep over that either.

The departure of Drew and Lucas was unfortunate in terms of the size of the cast being reduced, but to be honest, I was too distracted by Aden to care. Brad's departure was barely a blip on the radar as well, and Dan's seemed kind of the same, although I must admit I really started to miss him after his death. I really, really miss Sally and Cassie, but I still think it's good that they left in a way, it just felt like it was the right time for them to go. The only character who left in the last half a year or so who should still be here is my beloved

I agree with diner landlord, I wouldnt notice if the whole cast left and it was just aden left! too gorgeous for words!!

Definitely havent missed Drew, he made Belle's character really annoying, she's a bit more of her old self now he's gone.

I think we're losing too many of the stalwarts:with Peter, Kim and Dan having left last year and Sally and Cassie having gone this year I think we're down to about seven characters that have been there more than a couple of years.And I'm starting to wonder how long some of them are gonna last.

Aden and Geoff should have their own spin-off series.

Well 9 characters were there in the 2005 season, the stalwarts Alf (88), Irene(92), Colleen(00)& Leah(00) plus Tony, Jack, Martha, Matilda and Ric.

Rachel and Belle joined in 2006, Geoff and Annie in 2007 and Aden, Roman and Miles in 2008. I reckon that Nicole and Jazz will be next. I've heard that Ric may be going and I've got my suspicions that J&M being back together mite be the start of a storyline that sees them head off into the sunset together.

I was actually kind of expecting it before the 2008 season even started. A lot of characters left toward late 2000 (Ken, Peta, Edward, Judith, Joel) and quite a few left in mid-2004 (Seb, Jade, Noah, Max, Rhys, Dani). Since contracts are usually similar, I would have been suprised if there wasn't a lot of people who left at this time.

yeah I've heard that too, which I think is a shame. Too many have left and too many weak rubbish characters have arrived and expected us to care about their back stories, with the exception of jazz who i love and roman who is a nice guy. oh and my beloved aden of course! The show really needs to get back to its roots IMO and start using the old hands more - Alf, Irene, Leah etc, and stop revolving around annoying teens
