Do you HATE h&a dragged out 'love' storylines????

does this story sound familiar people?

...'once upon a time there was A and B, they fall in love...they break up (sometimes several times), then they have a long period where they tell the world that they have now moved on, then they go on to break the hearts of a few people and then, (YAWN), surprise, surprise, they miraculously realise that they'd never fallen out of love and they get back to together again! the end'

now, i'm not denying that some couples are right for one another, tasha and robbie for one, BUT it is so ANNOYING when they drag on this 'will they-won't they' storyline for YEARS!! and when they break the hearts of some fabulous person to go back to their original idiot, sorry, soul-mate...

so, this is a place where you guys are welcome to complain about the single most annoying trait of h&a! (whether the couple's gone or not)

just to start you off...

martha & jack - kill me now!!!

kim and kit

...you guys get the picture? feel free to talk about whichever so-called couple you want AND this is also a place for you to weep over the lovely people who got caught in the crossfire while some idiots couldn't make up their minds eg. MICHAEL, rachel...etc.

oh! and i'd love to hear about the number of times (if anyone has a good memory) that one person said that they are over someone/they're not in love with them/they'll never look back/goodbye for good etc. etc., martha comes to mind here...how many times did she say 'goodbye' to that idiot jack and tell michael that he's the one she wants to be with! AND let's see whether we can figure out which couple has been dragged on for the longest!!

looking forward to hearing your thoughts! :)

ps. this discussion is at UK pace, so no spoilers please! thanks!

Hayley Scott and kim were awful, because they were all pathetic. It got a bit better when that Ella girl came in.

Kit Kim and Rachel was awful because they changed Kits character which was mean of them.

But Jack and Martha are enough to drive you insane. It goes on and on and on and on and make me hate them more and more with each passing week. It is beyond pathetic, they ought to make it illegal for soap stuff to be dragged on like this, as it is enough to make you want to end it all. It's got to the point where they make me feel physically sick now, and I started off liking them.

^^I agree.

Hayley, Kim and Scott went on for so long that it got to a point where no one cared anymore.

Rachel, Kim and Kit was just as bad. They changed Kit's character completely and Rachel deserved so much more.

IMO the worst has to be Jack and Martha. I can't believe the character of Michael was wasted on Martha of all people.

Jack and Martha is the obviously. I have never liked Martha too much, but I did like Jack when he first started because he was a happy exciting character.. I loved their deals which ended with the spider, then when they got together, I wasnt too bothered by it. But now all the splitting up is just getting on my nerves. Martha is the worse, she breaks up with Jack because he was a cop and worked all the hours he did, she just gave up without trying even though she told Jack that he wasnt trying.. But then she dates another cop not long after breaking up with her husband, then she mets a guy and gives up her friends and family and work, for someone she had only known a couple of hours.. Then from one relationship to another, while being jealous and sulking in the corner when Jack got together with someone. Jack has lost all the fun he had, he is just a dull character that clearly shows that Sam isnt his number 1 choice, but yet he still married her.

Hayley, Kim and Scott. Main reason was because it was barely 3 months after Noah. Noah and Hayley were 'soulmates', until Hayley moved on that fast. And the whole storylines just annoyed me, she was switching and swapping between them so much, I didnt care. It went on for such along time, then finally one last swap and she is leaving with Scott.

Kim, Kit and Rachel. The main reason I hated that, was because I really hate Kim. And Kit was starting to become really really bossy, as shown when they were lost in the bush. They both just told people want to do, what they cant do and questioned everything, there is no other word to describe it than bossy. Then when Kit came back, to me it felt like she was acting above Rachel even though she was the one in the wrong.

Matilda and Ric. Not the obvious one to choose. But I LOVED them when they were just friends. I think one of the best scenes on the show was when Matilda went off the rails and Callum spiked her drink. She was then kidnapped. When she phoned Ric instead of anyone else, showed close friendship. And when they found each other and hugged on that road, both of them crying. It was a great scene. I wasnt happy when they decided to put them together, but it went well.. Until they became boring and instead of making them all happy and excited with something new, they make Ric have a affair. Typical. And I hate it. Now we will go through the will they, wont they get back together for ages.. More arguements and sulks, more revenge sleeping with others. Why cant a couple just be happy?

Why cant a couple just be happy?

I know I'd love to see more happy couples on Home and Away - but it's Home and Away and happy couples just aren't that exciting. I actually quite like the will-they won't-they storylines and admit that they do make me tune in the hope that I'll see them reunited! However, I can't stand the length of time they drag on for and the repetitiveness of storylines in between - I mean how many boyfriends is Martha going to have before she eventually gets back with Jack and how many times did Scott almost find out that he really was the father of baby Noah? It's just too much and it can be a bit of anti-climax when the story does play out after all that build up!

I would like to see an adult couple with a lasting relationship containing good and healthy communication. I think the show could still be exciting to watch - they managed it with Pippa/Michael, and Alf/Ailsa and I think they could pull it off again. There would still be other people and other storylines, and there can be good storylines even with a happily married couple, it would just be about other things.

I totally agree 100%, he could have had so much potential.

I have to agree with you both... Michael was a great character and he deserved to come back for a storyline of his own not simply a spare part in the silly JM saga!

like i said at the beginning, SOME couples are right together and we can be happy that they do get back together if it's believable, i mentioned tasha & robbie, they only had the one break-up and that was when she got sucked into the believers so that was believable coz she'd been brainwashed, and when she got out of it, they got back together...

...BUT my god! some of the others. about your wonderings about martha's boyfriends, let's see...

there was corey - who was in between jack, during their first breakup

then they got married, broke up again, then...

ash

cam

michael (who she REALLY should have stuck with!!!!)

...so in total, that's 4 and still counting!!!

and will be the anti-climax of all anti-climaxes when it finally happens!

i was also wondering, i'd like to ask some of the actors/actresses about their personal opinion on these storylines? i bet they get the scripts 6 months or a year down the line, open it up and think 'oh man! not him/her again! thought i'd gotten rid of them for good by now!':lol:

surely they get bored of this too. i wonder if their opinion matters? guess not, they're just paid to keep their opinions to themselves, do their job and let the writers get on with theirs-or do they get an input? anyone know?

that is so true! so would i! obviously i understand that they need to create storylines but it is possible for couples to have interseting crises and yet manage to stay together because of their strong relationship.
