Yes, he was. Alf didn't know the Guv, his ex-girlfriend, had a son named Owen Dalby. The Guv told him a bit before she died. It turned out that Owen was a violent father. When he died, Alf wanted to create a bond with Ric, his grandson. Their relationship was a bit complicated at first but they got along afterwards.

Gosh, the things I have missed when I miss the odd episode.

Re: Drew. I remember him going on about having to wait months for some money he was to get when he turned 18. This was when he first came into the show. I can't remember what the money was: some inheritance or bank account that Peter had arranged for him? Anyway, he must have been under 17 when he came into the show, whenever that was. I don't know if he ever got the money. Perhaps I'm imagining it.

Drew was 17 whe he arrived and supposed to be turning 18 in about December 2006 or January 2007, but the writers clearly forgot that detail and had him celebrate his 18th birthday in May 2007. Also Martha was 18 for 13 months as opposed the usual 12  . She arrived in March 2005 aged 18, and celebrated her 19th birthday 13 months later in April 2006, not to mention the fact she was aged by 18 months when she was brought back into the show. Its stupid lttle details like this that annoy me. Surely it wouldn't be too difficult for the production team to keep files on every character with the most basic details such as date-of-birth etc.

rory 12? i thought he was in primary school and they moved him up to high school. year 6 in primary school is age 10/11. so if he was 11 why would they bother, surely they would just wait 6 months and he would be there anyway. so he would have been 9/10 at most. and if its been a year since then which i dont think it has, he would be 10/11? or is it different in australia?

See, if we were all in charge of Home and Away, we'd be most efficient with their files, wouldn't we? I like making lists, so maybe I'll make one of characters' dates of birth. Now that's an idea!

Me too: whenever I start watching a TV Show I make a list on Microsoft Excel of the regular cast, ordered by name, actor's name, occupation, position in the opening credits, first episode, and other things relevant to each show (address for Neighbours and Desperate Housewives, Rank for any police or military show) and update it every time I see it change. That's the basis for my claim to being the most obsessive TV-addict on the planet. I don't even remember why I started this habit but I can't stop it. When I start writing my own TV shows I expect this to come in handy.

On the BBC website for Eastenders thay list DOB etc on the character pages and they make sure that they have detailed files on each character before they even arrive.

One of the details that annoyed me was the fact that both Jack and Lucas have been shown to have Anthony as their middle name. I can see someone giving their name to one son but both??

Maybe Tony is self obsessed or something. He probably is, I bet he really wanted to call both his sons Anthony, but had to compromise and give them Anthony as their middle names when his wife objected.
