Perry Posted February 16, 2008 Report Posted February 16, 2008 I think they should SORAS Ryan to be about 15 years old so we don't have to watch Annie hang out with characters older (or younger) then she is all the time... SORAS isn't always an evil unbelievable plot device it also gives potential good characters a chance to have some more adult and entertaining storylines. What would you rather having children characters not seen, not heard but maybe mentioned every now and then? Or having them age them and give them storylines? Maybe they should Age Pippa and VJ too.
emmasi Posted February 16, 2008 Report Posted February 16, 2008 I think the kid that plays Ryan is more than capable of handling story lines. I don't think he needs to be aged, I just think the writers need to learn to think outside the box in terms of what to do with him. Unlike Pippa and VJ, he can do much more than cling to his mother and look cute. If they bring him back, he'd probably get grouped with Rory and Annie anyway, in spite the age difference. Rory (having already been aged and skipped ahead in school) creates a link to cover the gap between Ryan and Annie. Ryan is more mature than he should be, and Annie is less mature, and Rory is just a ball of emotional mush who claims to be freakishly intellectual, but I'm yet to see it. (I'd have believed the original Rory to be a sensitive genius any day.) I think it all kind of evens out in terms of who the characters would be likely to hang out with.
Miranda Posted February 16, 2008 Report Posted February 16, 2008 I think they should SORAS Ryan to be about 15 years old They should what? What does that stand for?
bttb-rox! Posted February 16, 2008 Report Posted February 16, 2008 I think they should SORAS Ryan to be about 15 years old They should what? What does that stand for? SORAS = Soap Opera Rapid Aging Syndrome . I'm not sure whether Ryan should have been aged to give Annie a friend of a similar age . I think she fits in quite well with the other younger characters, but she is a bit of a 'middle child'. To me, the show has 4 age bands - 1. The real young 'uns. Little Pippa and VJ. 2. Semi young 'uns. Ryan (but he's left ) and Rory. 3. Young teens. Annie. 4. Teens - From 16 onwards. Drew, Belle, Cassie, Ric, Matilda, Lucas, Ric, Geoff, etc. Annie is a bit lonely by herself, so Rory is the only character who could, realistically, be given a bit of SORAS. I enjoyed the scenes with Annie and Rory when they went on the school excursion, and I thought it was a nice change to see a pair of younger characters becoming friends. For some reason, I just can't imagine Ryan being any older than he is. Rory, on the other hand, could be aged, and it wouldn't seem as strange. As a result, I think Rory should be aged …

Reo Posted February 16, 2008 Report Posted February 16, 2008 How old is Ryan meant to be now? I was watching the episodes around the time of the wedding blast and Amanda finding out about Belle.. Ryan mentioned he was 9 then.. So that makes him 11 now? If he stayed, would he have gone to SBH soon? If that was the case, I dont think they would of needed to change his age.
Miranda Posted February 18, 2008 Report Posted February 18, 2008 SORAS = Soap Opera Rapid Aging Syndrome . Thanks! Ha ha. I think I need the opposite!

Formerly Known as FKAJ Posted February 29, 2008 Report Posted February 29, 2008 Maybe they should, as long as he doesn't catch it from EJ Wells.
