Two hander or single character episodes

Having seen the wonderful June Brown hold an entire episode of EastEnders by herself, and remembering the remarkable episodes when there was just Dot and Ethel, and one I think with Den and Angie I wonder if the writers would risk doing this on Home and Away. There are only a few characters who could hold this in my view, and these would be Sally, Irene, Alf, Rachel, Tony, Colleen, Belle, and Morag. I would love to see them try something different, to explore their characters in different ways, and to give one or two of them room to fly.

A very interesting topic, one that i'd never thought of! I saw the single-hander episode of EastEnders last night and thought it was fantastic. I'm pretty sure that H&A could do a similar thing with some of the characters you mentioned. Personally, I would love to see either a single-hander episode with just Alf, Irene, Sally or Morag. If it was going to be a two-hander, Sally and Alf. They have been in the Bay since the beginning of time (:P) and would have ALOT to talk about. Whether H&A will ever do it is another question, but it's an interesting idea! :D

For a single hander episode, i would love to see Sally, Irene, Leah or Peter

For Two hander episodes i would love to see Alf/Sally, Leah/Peter, Irene/Annie and Rachel/Tony :P

I would like to see one character episodes featureing either Sally, Irene or Alf, or maybe even Colleen or Morag. I doubt any one else could pull it off to be honest.

Or two character episodes featuring, Sally and Alf, Sally and Miles, Colleen and Morag, Colleen and Sally Irene and Barry (from his prison cell), Irene and Belle, Irene and Roman, Rachel and Leah, Leah and Peter,

The trouble is that a lot of the teenage viewers would complain it was *boring* because they had no fit young men to look at. But I for one would love it if they broke the mould occasionally and did something really different.

I think that is partly true. Several years ago they did an episode which was excellent, where there were only 4 characters, Jesse, Leah, Sally and Flynn. It was well written and well acted but a lot of people moaned that it was boring because their favourite characters of the time, like Dani, Kirsty, Kane, and others were not in it. You can't please every one it seems.

I disagree. It was a fantastic ep.

June Brown acted it really well :)

No matter how well acted something is, someone will be bored if they are not interested in the subject matter

Despite this I think that they should take some risks occasionally and not just pander to the shallower fans but also do something for long term fans who are actually interested in quality. I would love to see some in depth eps like you describe. I think they could be fantastic, especially if Bevan wrote them. If Monday's ep was anything to go by it would be great.

I loved that Leah/Jesse/Sally/Flynn episode, one of my favs of that year.

They did that episode where Dani appeared to be talking to the audience, and the storyline focused on her for the entire episode. (in the end it turned out she was talking to Hayley who was sitting next to the camera). - something like that anyway.

Flynn's death episode was kinda similar, as in it only featured a few characters, but mainly Sally and Flynn.

I'm not sure I've seen an episode of a show where it just features one character only...is it just one huge monologue? It would have to be interesting.
