Benjamin Shatliff Posted December 14, 2007 Report Posted December 14, 2007 I have just phoned Five up and asked about the break for Home & Away (Present Episodes) and the Early Years. The Early Years will return at some stage in January 2008, but a time is still to be set. As far as the latest episodes are concerned, Five told me, we in the UK aren't allowed to be on a level pegging with Australian episodes. They said we have to be at least six weeks behind Oz. Back in the days when ITV showed Home & Away, I ma sure we were only days behind Australia at one point. I would prefer to be level with Australia and take the full six-week break, comments welcome on this one.
Daisyap Posted December 14, 2007 Report Posted December 14, 2007 January? Man I'm gonna miss all the good stuff.
abbie Posted December 14, 2007 Report Posted December 14, 2007 Yeah, I woukdnt mind being only a few days behind, it sometimes gets confusing if we are so far behind, especially when there are certain dates on and they arent happending when we are being shown it like Valentines day, I know its sounds stupid but I like the little things like that
freakybuffy Posted December 14, 2007 Report Posted December 14, 2007 Great minds! I sent an email to Five yesterday and this was my replay! Thank you for your further enquiry regarding Home And Away: The Early Years. At present, we have not received confirmation from our Scheduling Team as to when Home And Away: The Early Years will return after a break over Christmas. We can only suggest that you keep a close eye on the listings. You can view up to two weeks listings free of charge on our website. For some reason I'm worried that it won't be returning! But I guess we'll wait and see! I think it would be nice to have a 2 week break over Christmas then maybe a few weeks during the summer, when the football, tennis etc... is on!
claire_louise Posted December 14, 2007 Report Posted December 14, 2007 The answer to this is probably staring me in the face, but why is it that we have to keep behind Australia? I thought it was because they needed time to ship the episodes over here, but surely they don't have that problem these days, what with the internet and everything?
freakybuffy Posted December 14, 2007 Report Posted December 14, 2007 It just part of the T&C's Channel 5 agreed with Seven. It's like Bones on sky One we have to be so many weeks behind the US episodes, so when they take a break for Christmas so do we! It's annoying really. I guess H&A is going to be like this as well from now on!
Benjamin Shatliff Posted December 15, 2007 Report Posted December 15, 2007 If my calculations are correct, when we beign the 2008 season, here in the UK, it should be the first week in March, we will then be six weeks behind. Next year will be interesting, if they take a two week break in Australia for the Olympics, like they usually do, what will happen here.?. Also, if we only take a two week break over next Christmas, plus the Bank Holidays, we could end up about three weeks behind. I still say, let us catch up with Australia and then take the full six week break. They used to do that with Emmerdale at one stage and it didn't lose any viewers. Maybe we should petition this to Five.
bttb-rox! Posted December 16, 2007 Report Posted December 16, 2007 Am I the only one who is quite happy with how far we're behind in the UK at the moment? Everyone seems to hate the winter H&A break, but I think it's good . It gives us a chance to catch up, but with the show being off in Oz at the moment, we still won't be too far behind.
Zetti Posted December 16, 2007 Report Posted December 16, 2007 I like the break because it means that we know whats going to happen and we can wait to watch it again if we have seen it before
