Sunday Rain Posted May 24, 2009 Report Posted May 24, 2009 Yeah it was brilliant to see Daniel working with the others and being treated like an ordinary guy just for a while. Great scene - I'm a second-time viewer so it was one I was looking forward to seeing again. Out of the Blue is still airing in Australia, but it doesn't rate well because Ten only show it once a week on Sunday evenings, which means it's hidden away in the schedules and not being broadcast as it was intended to be seen. They started out showing it 4 nights a week last year and it got pretty decent numbers (airing at 10.30pm!), but they moved it to the new slot in early January and it's never really recovered from that.
Slade Posted May 28, 2009 Report Posted May 28, 2009 Oh Tracey. Again I had such sympathy for her the way she told Jarrod she wanted a divorce so he could move on and find someone else. Although she seemed so cold and absolute, I thought that was really noble of her, completely sacrificing herself because she loved him. And even when Steven and Peta wanted to represent her she didn’t want to hide from what she did, furthermore she didn’t want to burden them. As when Zoe went to see her at the hospital again I found their scene at the police station extremely difficult to watch. The only thing that bothers me about her is to this day she hasn’t shown one ounce of remorse for what she did and if the diminished responsibility plea is unsuccessful then any judge will probably impose a maximum sentence. It was good to see people wanting to give her another chance and recognise that’s she’s not evil just misunderstood. She mentioned that Pia came to see her and I also liked the scene with Staffo and Gabi. Gabi is just trying to be a friend and I like that Staffo’s still weary of her, but recognising that in spite of her ordeal she went out of way to help them (or indirectly help them by way of Ron) Then there’s Becka. I do like her but I’m usually very hot and cold with her. There’s times where she really annoys me such as when Steven was telling her that he wanted to do a psych evaluation of Traci to support her case and Becka had to make it all about her (i.e. “she tried to frame” me as she said several times already) without thinking about Jarrod and Zoe. Also when she seemed so eager when she turned up at Jarrod’s after receiving the fake text message from Kyle. She’s in love with him I can sense it. Again as I said before I feel there are certain circumstances where she lakes empathy. On the other hand there are times where I think the exact opposite such as her attitude after she found out Angela was ill and going back to when she helped Kirsten and Blade. And Angela. Even though she’s only been in a few episodes, I actually felt sorry for her too. It’s difficult not to given her current situation. And the thing is I can understand exactly why she doesn’t want Kirsten (and Steven) to find out. I’m sure Kirsten’s attitude would change if she found out that her mother was terminally ill but she would only be doing it out of sympathy and guilt. If it was me I would want Kirsten’s attitude to change not because she felt she had to but because she wanted to. In saying that I really hope Angela is telling the truth about her cancer and this is not another Bridget.
Slade Posted June 3, 2009 Report Posted June 3, 2009 To start I have mixed feelings about Angela’s illness coming out. It’s good in the sense that it allows her family to support her but Kyle and Kirsten put Becka in an almost impossible position practically inviting her to move in. How could she say no? And this will obviously put a dampener on her relationship with Steven. I still feel quite sorry for Angela though. I would have actually liked Addo and Amber to get together as I felt those two were really suited to each other but the problem is Staffo. He was way too into her. If things had gone further after she kissed him then, that would have put their friendship in jeopardy considering that he backed him up re Reynolds and Project Pegasus. If Addo and Amber were going to get together he would have been forced to choose between his mate and the girl who I think is so right for him. She did the right thing leaving like that. At least this way Staffo will probably get over her relatively quickly and Addo has got no reason to tell him about the kiss as no good can come from doing that. I wasn’t that interested in the storyline about Debra giving up her child initially but I suspected that it was something big. And when I saw Olive on the phone to her former colleague I immediately guessed it was Poppy. Interesting considering the fact that they both absolutely hate each other. There will be all kinds of repercussions WHEN (believe me it will) this comes out. Especially for Olive’s relationship with Poppy and her relationship with Debra and Daniel. It’s hard to imagine that she’s Philby and Daniel’s sister. I thought it was interesting the way Tracey came across in the counselling sessions with Steven (Incidentally I really didn’t like Debra’s threat about him representing her). To be honest it really bothered me because to reiterate what I mentioned previously she appears to have no remorse for what she did. I think she acknowledges that she did the wrong thing but she feels it’s justified because she was being black mailed. I know she said she was sorry when she was being assessed but I just felt she said that as a matter of course and there was no real conviction behind it. I was right about Tracey from the start though. She knew Jarrod was in love with Becka for years hence the reason why she looked like she had the fear of god put into her when she first turned up for the reunion. Interesting though how she wanted Becka to give things a go with Jarrod. I thought that was a very telling scene when Becka walked into the bar and saw Jarrod with Zoe one side and Steven and his family the other. And also in the conversation with Gabi afterwards where she said something about both of them representing the stage in her life where she didn’t want to be at the moment. I just knew Jason would turn up. I think with Out Of The Blue you have to learn to expect the unexpected and as his name was mentioned so many times I just had a gut feeling about him putting in an appearance at some point. So now it would appear that Tracey killed Philby for nothing and by the looks of the assessment they thought she wasn’t responsible for her actions for Philby’s death but she was for Jason. And now he’s not dead there is a strong possibility she could avoid jail and a chance she may even walk. I’m really looking forward to seeing what everyone has to say to him and how Debra and Daniel take the news.
Miranda Posted June 15, 2009 Report Posted June 15, 2009 I'm really glad to see you are still enjoying this show, Slade. It must be coming near to the end now
ldscott Posted June 16, 2009 Report Posted June 16, 2009 Any news on whether there are gonna be anymore episodes?
Sunday Rain Posted June 18, 2009 Report Posted June 18, 2009 Any news on whether there are gonna be anymore episodes? Sadly, barring a miracle, there won't be another series. The show's future on the BBC was pretty much sealed after the hasty move to BBC Two, while Ten in Australia have also done everything they can to make sure that it isn't a success (putting it on at 10.30pm and then removing it from the slot when it built up an audience against the odds). All I can suggest doing is emailing the BBC and telling them how disappointed you are by how they treated such a great show.

I had a feeling it was ending soon. I also have a feeling we won’t get to see what happens with Poppy and Debra. Any news on whether there are gonna be anymore episodes? All I can suggest doing is emailing the BBC and telling them how disappointed you are by how they treated such a great show. I’m going to ask a silly question but how would the BBC be able to influence whether or not they decide to do another series if it is an Australian show. It’s been two weeks since I last posted here and although I’ve only seen up till last Thursday quite a bit’s happened. Addo and Emily are now an item and Stavva seems to have accepted them. Tracey’s been released from custody back into the community. Becka and Steven’s relationship seems to have reached breaking point. Anyway, what a mess - Becka, Steven, Angela, Tracey, Addo, Amber, Emily etc. Why oh why did they have to bring Emily back?? Don’t get me wrong because I really, really like her but I also really like Addo and Amber as a couple and actually think they work better than Addo and Emily did, although admittedly Emily says she’s changed and I believe her. The problem is now someone’s now going to get hurt. In saying that it is really good to see her again and being so vibrant too. I really liked the stuff with Tracey and it actually allowed a bit of normality considering her recent problems. I loved her and Jarrod’s faces when Emily kept going on about him. Addo was absolutely hilarious. Every time she kept telling him how wonderful he was, how he was the only thing that kept her going and that she was so in love with him, I loved the way he kept trying to change the subject and he actually looked like he wanted to run a mile – Not because he didn’t want to be around her but because he got himself into a situation that he felt he couldn’t handle. I actually really liked the setup with Becka, Steven, Kristen and Kyle but with Angela back on the scene and effectively in a situation where people will have nothing but sympathy for her (and will be devoting all their time and effort) and the fact that Becka is still in love with Jarrod, I now think it would be best all round if Steven and Angela get back together even for the sake of their children. I still have serious reservations about Tracey. Poppi really should come clean about her being able to walk but now she’s in debt to her she’s stuck in two minds. Her heart says no for Zoe’s sake but her mind says yes because Tracey is now potentially a threat and I feel given the right circumstances she could relapse. Anyway I’m off to try and catch up with this week’s episodes.
Miranda Posted June 19, 2009 Report Posted June 19, 2009 Good to see you again Miranda. Thank you. I have been away due to problems I've been having in my life so it is nice to be welcomed back Sunday Rain- I've emailed the BBC quite a few times, I've signed a petition, I've done what I can. I despair of them.

They funded it and everything. They decided to produce it after Fiver bought Neighbours off them. They wanted an Australian soap to replace it so decided, in conjunction with Ten, to make their own.

They funded it and everything. They decided to produce it after Fiver bought Neighbours off them. They wanted an Australian soap to replace it so decided, in conjunction with Ten, to make their own. Thanks! I had no idea. It just goes to show how clueless I am. Ok so Addo, Emily and Amber all lose out. If Addo couldn’t decide he probably should have chosen neither of them (that would have been the noble thing to do). I missed the next episode so I don’t know what happened in the aftermath. I also don’t know what happened with Paul after Daniel, Lucia and Davvo took off, after almost being caught red-handed in an illegal car deal. I found certainly as of late I don’t dislike Poppi anywhere as near as much as I did before, mainly because of her attitude towards Tracey. Although she hasn’t forgotten what she did she’s at least prepared to put the past behind her as Ron mentioned. Frankly Jarrod quite annoyed me with his attitude towards Tracey when she left Zoe at the cinema. I don’t blame him for getting annoyed but it was just the way he wanted nothing more to do with her without even talking to her about it first. Was not a happy bunny when he and Becka shared a kiss, declared their love for one another and decided to give things a go. In one sense I was glad Tracey had a brain tumour because at least it meant it’s probably going to keep her out of jail but in the other Jarrod’s now only going back to her out of obligation to his daughter. I actually want him and Tracy to separate now and for Zoe to just live with her mother. I have to say though it was quite selfless of Becka to let go of him like that. It must have been extremely difficult. I felt really sorry for Stephen when Becka told him and I’m glad they aren’t getting back together as she’s not in love with him anymore. I do however don’t buy that whole - he’s been in love with his wife all along but didn’t know it – sort of thing as the way he was with Becka suggested otherwise i.e. following her from Melbourne, making his kids up and root (which you could argue was quite selfish) and over the last couple of weeks not wanting to give up on their relationship. Was initially a bit disappointed with Kirsten’s attitude towards her after finding out Beck's admission she was in love with Jarrod but suitably pleased with their hug as I always like any scene between those two. I actually think Kristen was more disappointed at having to back to Melbourne and was quite happy where she was although that seems to have been extended. I’m really glad she went to Becka’s to borrow her scarf and told her about her date though as that showed she still feels quite close to her. Kyle seems mature about the whole thing but that’s mainly because he wants his mum and dad to get back together (understandably). Debra’s usually quite rational but the way she reacted after Pia broke the news about Tracey was bordering on desperation regarding blame. Still not sure about Pia telling her like that though. And I don’t think she should have actively defended Tracey too. In my mind there is no way you can blame Jason for what happened. If anyone was to blame it was Philby himself. You could argue his main motivation for blackmailing Tracey in the first place was because of what he did to his dad. No prizes for guessing who wrecked Jason’s pictures. It’s a shame as well because they were such nice paintings. The scene when Daniel came back looking smug and Debra quizzed him about where he was and (I’m guessing) realised that he did something, followed with a wry smile was good. Considering what both of them have done in the past it would be fair to say that Jason got off pretty lightly.
