My character is Ron :D Well Done Miranda!

Thank you. I nearly put Jarrod but went with my gut instinct Ron :D

The thing is, you have to give Out of the Blue a little time to get into the characters, story etc. but surely this applies to any drama series? These TV companies have to be less impatient.

You're right about that. Back in the day, weeknightly drama series generally didn't do well at the beginning, but eventually gathered enough momentum to be renewed and are considered very popular today.

A notable example is Shortland Street here in New Zealand, which didn't do well at all when it started in 1992. The TV company, however, had already ordered a year's worth of episodes so they had to air it. By the time the episodes had been used up, it was popular enough and more were ordered. Today, Shortland Street is one of the most watched shows on NZ television.

Now, if TV companies were to realize this, then I am certain that Out Of The Blue could become just as popular as Home And Away and Neighbours. Soap operas don't become hits overnight!

Just noticed that the current OOTB episodes on channel Ten in Australia are the ones where Blade and Bec confront each other :o I think those were some of the episodes which made me realise that this drama is something special. I was moved to tears by them- I know I'm soppy but the storyline and acting were excellent.

Yes, Nathan, I remember the days when if companies commissioned a series, it would be shown whatever. Then if it didn't become popular in one series, another series would not be commissioned. I remember this sci fi series in the 80s- 'The Tripods'- which was cancelled after one series and everyone was shocked as it had never happened before.

Ok I’ve been watching this over two weeks now and after the first couple of episodes I wasn’t sure about it but it’s now gotten interesting enough for me to at least try and continue watching it for the time being especially considering that it’s shown every morning at 6:45am. I will say a couple of things though, I like the fact that they have several attractive females with a range of personalities. I’m not sure about the lack of younger characters but they shouldn’t have killed Daniel off. Ado should have been the one to die (I hope I’ve got their names right).

Glad you're enjoying it - the show kicks into high gear over the next few weeks - it'll blow you away! Daniel Bennett, Sam Meikle and Jason Herbison who all worked heavily on Home & Away are some of the brains behind the scripts and many of the directors on OOTB also worked in Summer Bay.

Just in case anyone is confused by this thread...it was Philby who died (not Daniel - he's his brother!)

Oh and just in case any of you are interested...there is a petition for a second series of OOTB. It can be found at:

I am not one to resort to personal attacks but, for the love of God, Willz you're driving me up the wall!

If you having nothing good to say about this show then stay out of its thread. I don't like several shows but you won't see me go into their respective threads and go on about how much I dislike them. I understand you have a right to an opinion on a show, but obviously there are a lot of people in this thread who love OOTB. By saying that this show is even that good, you're only doing one thing and that's causing trouble!

I signed another petition to get a second series. I wonder where that went?
