Mrs Bishop Posted July 1, 2008 Report Posted July 1, 2008 Well I must admit I havent watvhed this programe Because it clashed with Water Rats on the FX channel but I see there showing repeats and I shall be able to catch it. Trouble with these TV comanys they dont give any new programme or series a chance, I bet if you were to write to sky or one of there channels they wouldnt hesitate to take up the challenge.
Miranda Posted July 2, 2008 Report Posted July 2, 2008 That is such a disappointment, but at least BBC are showing the whole series and not cutting it off now. I worked out that it should finish around Christmas, but I expect the Olympics will interfere with the schedule and it will finish in January. There's still the hope of persuading Five to pick up OOTB- wasn't there a big gap between ITV showin Home and Away and then Five picking it up? Hopefully this is a good precedent.
Creeker311 Posted July 2, 2008 Report Posted July 2, 2008 Well, that's a shame. I was really starting to get into it. Kristen
Dan F Posted July 2, 2008 Report Posted July 2, 2008 There's still the hope of persuading Five to pick up OOTB- wasn't there a big gap between ITV showin Home and Away and then Five picking it up? Hopefully this is a good precedent. That was due to ITV being childish by activating a clause in their contract, stating that no other UK broadcaster could show H&A for a year from when they stopped showing it. They were just bitter that Seven had preferred to go with a broadcaster that actually returned their phone calls.... It looks likely that the story will be wrapped up within the 130 commissioned episodes, so I doubt it will continue after that.
Lesley Bee Posted July 2, 2008 Report Posted July 2, 2008 Iam really sad about this, i feel like the show had so much potential and the characters were great Still i guess the BBC can't really do anything else, after all they can't force people to watch it. Its a real shame though
vaughany Posted July 3, 2008 Report Posted July 3, 2008 It looks likely that the story will be wrapped up within the 130 commissioned episodes, so I doubt it will continue after that. Well I heard that Belguim bought OOTB for over 200 episodes so never know it may never wrap up the whole story in the last episode for us in UK but we'll see.
Miranda Posted July 3, 2008 Report Posted July 3, 2008 Well I had this message from Five today: 'Thank you for your recent enquiry regarding Out Of The Blue. At this time we do not have any plans to acquire the rights to Out Of The Blue. However, we have logged your interest in seeing it on Five for the attention of our Acquisitions Department. If there is anything further we can help you with, please do not hesitate to contact us. Thank you for your interest in Five. Yours sincerely Ian VIEWER ADVISOR' So who knows what will happen? There's no harm in keeping up our hopes and letting channels know how we feel
Lesley Bee Posted July 4, 2008 Report Posted July 4, 2008 ^ That's great, at least we know they're not totally against the idea
Mrs Bishop Posted July 4, 2008 Report Posted July 4, 2008 Thats what I said in my post a little while ago I havent seen the show yet but there is always a way round it if one T.V comany whant to drop it then surely another will take it up especially if people are intrested enough.
Miranda Posted July 4, 2008 Report Posted July 4, 2008 I had a thought- what if Five picked up OOTB and added it to their 'Australian Soap Hour' thing? Maybe the Neighbours and HAA fans would notice it then and it would catch on. Yes, we're thinking the same thing [see my post of a few days ago]. If we all write to TV companies telling them what we want, they may listen.
