Kirsty and Kane: Growing Pains

The roller-coaster relationship between Kirsty and Kane remains one of Home and Away’s strongest

and most controversial storylines ever and thisweekend Five Life brings you the chance to relive some of their innumerable highs and lows.

Kirsty and Kane were an unlikely pairing from the moment Kane was accused of raping Kirsty’s sister Dani and he became a sworn enemy of the Sutherland family. However, when a dinner cruise went wrong and Kane was left floundering in the sea, it was Kirsty who went to his rescue.

When they were eventually washed ashore they found themselves alone in the bush, and their roles became reversed as Kane looked after a still very wary Kirsty. But when Kane suffered a snake bite while trying to protect an unconscious Shelley, it was Kirsty who again had to look after Kane. She knew he had to be kept awake and so she encouraged him to talk about his past. Kane revealed his feelings about his indifferent father, making Kirsty sympathetic to his plight.

When the couple were rescued and returned to civilisation, their shared experience created a bond between them and they soon started an affair. When their secret was revealed, Kirsty’s father Rhys flew into a rage and banned the couple from seeing each other. However, Kirsty couldn’t bear to be parted from Kane and they decided their only option was to run away together. They found jobs as fruit pickers, where the only accommodation available was in a cockroach-infested room. Even though living conditions were tough, the couple endured them, knowing that at least they were together.

But that all changed when a drunken farm labourer tried to break into Kirsty’s room when she was alone and, panicking, Kirsty called home. She hung up when Kane came to the rescue, but the damage was done. The police now knew where the couple were and it was only a matter of time before they were caught.

They escaped before the police arrived, but Kane realised the life they had was unfair on Kirsty when she had a loving family to look after her. Being cruel to be kind, he drove her home and pushed her out of the car, leaving the Bay without a backward glance. Kirsty was devastated, but the saga didn’t end there. Next weekend, join Kane as he returns to the Bay for an emotional reunion.

Saturday 1st December Schedule for Five Life:

16.00 Home and Away: Kirsty and Kane

After finding bottles of alcohol in the senior common room, Fisher closes it down. Meanwhile, Irene warns Jill to stay away from Hayley, who lies about where she has been. Kane and Dani's flirting at the kiosk is interrupted by Will, who becomes suspicious. Later, Kane helps Dani take home some shopping but his flirting soon becomes forceful. Meanwhile, Alex is fed up with Leah's continual interference and decides to move into the caravan park.

16.30 Home and Away: Kirsty and Kane

Jade, Nick and Kirsty are overjoyed with the outcome of their performance at the song contest. Meanwhile, Alf finally sees the light where Leah is concerned, and apologises for his behaviour. Brodie arrives home to find that Kane has assaulted Dani. Rhys finds out and goes after Kane, who is arrested and charged.

17.00 Home and Away: Kirsty and Kane

The day of the trial arrives and Alf is shocked to see that the magistrate is his sister Morag. Meanwhile, Leah is concerned over Vinnie's latest money-making venture. Later, the residents of Summer Bay are on tenterhooks as they await the verdict of the trial – will Kane be found guilty of Dani's rape?

17.30 Home and Away: Kirsty and Kane

When the paint party is in full swing, Irene finds that she is awkward around Paris until she learns that they share a common bond. After nearly kissing, Seb and Kirsty try to avoid each other, but it's to no avail and they end up in a passionate embrace. Meanwhile, Rhys and Shelley worry as they and Dani head off to the mediation session with Kane. And although the session starts well and Kane admits he was wrong, it ends in a shouting match.

18.00 Home and Away: Kirsty and Kane

The centenary celebrations bring a few old faces back to the bay, including Steven and Celia. Steven is welcomed with open arms by Sally, but Celia meets resistance from Leah when Celia says that VJ is an anti-social child. Meanwhile, Alex receives a heartbreaking letter from Kelli. Dani decides that she wants to undergo the mediation session with Kane again, and this time Dani enters with a structured argument.

18.30 Home and Away: Kirsty and Kane

Kirsty defies her parents and sneaks on board the dinner cruise ship as it leaves the harbour. On board she runs into Kane, who is supposedly working on the ship. But when she is discovered by her parents and tries to tell them what she saw, they won't listen to her. Instead Shelley and Kirsty have a huge row in front of all the guests. Meanwhile, the weather starts to turn bad and Kane discovers that the ship is taking on water.

19.00 Home and Away: Kirsty and Kane

While a helicopter is sent out to search for survivors from the sunken cruise ship, Sally realises that the experience has put her life in perspective. Kirsty is forced to stay with Kane in the bush as she is too weak, but she is still very wary of him. Meanwhile, Shelley lies unconscious somewhere in the bush and her life is in danger.

19.30 Home and Away: Kirsty and Kane

June decides that Fisher's home needs a makeover and the work brings her and Seb closer together. Alf has suffered a broken femur and must hand the responsibility of leading the search for missing survivors to Josh. But Rhys starts to question Josh's suitability for the role and reveals to everyone his secret fear that Shelley and Kirsty may already be dead. Meanwhile, Shelley is still unconscious and Kane is suffering from a snake bite. Will rescue come before it's too late?

16.00 Home and Away: Kirsty and Kane

When Brodie receives a letter from Miles, June helps her get through the grief. Josh tries to make amends with Dani, but only manages to make things worse. Kirsty becomes stuck in Yabbie Creek and the only person who can give her a lift home is Kane, which doesn't go down too well with Josh, and the two guys come to blows. Josh soon realises he can't handle the Kane/Dani situation and breaks up with Dani.

16.30 Home and Away: Kirsty and Kane

When Kirsty and Kane admit their feelings for one another, Kirsty reveals all to Shauna, who seeks advice from Flynn. However, Sally sees them together and jealously warns Flynn to stay away from Shauna. Later, Shauna and Jude spend time with each other in the diner, but Jude lies to Charlotte about where he has been. Meanwhile, Flynn tries to help Josh through his relationship issues with Dani.

17.00 Home and Away: Kirsty and Kane

Shelley confronts Kirsty over Kane and demands that the couple no longer see each other. Rhys soon discovers the truth and the two men nearly come to blows. Later, Dani discovers the identity of her secret pen pal. Meanwhile, Hayley and Josh take the DIC kids out bushwalking, but an accidental slip means Hayley is left dangling over a cliff edge. Will Aimee help her?

17.30 Home and Away: Kirsty and Kane

Aimee's suspicious behaviour is finally discovered. Jade is confused when she is left in the dark over why Kirsty is so upset. Meanwhile, Shelley decides a few days away from the Bay will change Kirsty's feelings for Kane. Dani decides to date her secret pen pal.

18.00 Home and Away: Kirsty and Kane

It is the day of VJ's christening, but a new arrival in the form of Vinnie's cousin Mav causes embarrassment at the ceremony. Plus, Alex is put out as it looks like Mav has designs on Brodie. Kirsty, meanwhile, comes home early from the christening and packs her bags. She's going to run away with Kane.

18.30 Home and Away: Kirsty and Kane

Everyone is in shock when a video of VJ's christening reveals June taking Alex's watch. Meanwhile, Alex is jealous when Mav asks Brodie out. Elsewhere, Kirsty and Kane look for jobs to start their new life together, but they can only find work fruit picking, and the accommodation is infested with cockroaches.

19.00 Home and Away: Kirsty and Kane

Colleen is put out when Irene wins the Lotto. Charlotte is devastated when she doesn't get her paediatrics placement, but Noah is there to help. Meanwhile, Max's scheming leads to some terrible consequences. Kirsty and Kane are finding their new life tough, and their new employer is asking some awkward questions.

19.30 Home and Away: Kirsty and Kane

A drunken farmhand tries to get into Kirsty's room while she is alone. Panicked, she calls Shelley but hangs up when Kane comes to the rescue. However, the police now know their whereabouts and the couple must move on, but Kane realises that Kirsty needs to return to her parents. Meanwhile, Hayley tries to persuade Irene to spend some of her winnings on herself. Max hides the truth when he is bullied at school. Chris and Dani's studying leads to a kiss.

Yay! I can't wait, getting the chance to relive the K/K era is brilliant, after the previous specials weekends I was begining to wonder when and if they would do a K/K one .

Despite everything i thought Kirsty and kane actually made a very good couple, it would be interesting to watch their relationship develop again.

Its good that there giving us another weekend, but why do KK get two sets of weekends dedicated to them, yet Sally and flynn get six measly episodes on a saturday?

Its good that there giving us another weekend, but why do KK get two sets of weekends dedicated to them, yet Sally and flynn get six measly episodes on a saturday?

I think there are two reasons. Firstly, because the KK thing was such a big and controversial storyline, unlike anything they'd done before. It got people talking (and still does) and is a storyline that people will remember for years and years. And the second reason is simply that so much happened! KK were always known for being dramatic so it's no wonder they can fill two weekends with their various problems. It is a lot though...I can understand why some people will want to switch off!
