Give Irene a decent storyline!

I wondered what the e mail/PM notifications I received were on about, and now I now.

I got one too. Not that I am complaining, I share the sentiment and endorse the views of all who have posted in this thread. We need more Irene, she is the star of the show as far as I am concerned.

Having see the pictures on haac I hope they are not turning Irene into a nasty person and changing her personality like they have changed everyone else's. That would be horrible. Irene isn't nasty.

If they change her personality I wont be happy at all. Colleen will have to have done something really bad to have upset her that much as she was not speaking to her in the spoiler pictures posted before christmas either, and that will mean this has gone on for a while, weeks maybe. Colleen would try the patiance of a saint but Irene is usually very fond of her. But if it means we see more Irene we shoud not complain too much I suppose.

So far this season Irene has more scenes than she probably had in the whole of last year, and she has been incredible. If the promo's for next week ar anything to go by, we have more amazing scenes to come. The comic banter between her and Roman has been perfectly timed, and her relationship with Annie and Geoff is being developed just as we had hoped. Long may it continue. We just need Barry to come back now. :D

Well Irene has had more scenes, and Annie and Geoff have moved in, but she has still not had a story line. She has yelled at Geoff for beng a pretentious prigg, but what else?

Come on Bevan Lee you are wasting one of your best assessts. Why? Haven't you seen the Most Popular Character Results?

If anyone deserves a huge storyline, Irene does. Along with Leah, she is one of the most underused characters, which is a shame because she has such potential.

Although of course I don't want Irene to become a complete nasty person for no reason, she did always used to have an 'edge' and never be afraid to stand up for herself and those she cares about, and its that element of her characters that been missing for the past couple of years.

We all mellow with age Nick, look at Morag, she has mellowed beyond all recognition, although I like to think both Irene and Morag have retained their "bite".

I can't help thinking, after the Colleen and Alf episodes, and Irene's reactions to the the "engagement" that they are setting something up between Alf and Irene a little further into the future. If they do so, I think it would be a mistake myself - not least because my good friend chatter box would be up in arms about it :P , but also I know that in interviews both Lynne and Ray have said they are against the idea.

I would like to see a return of Irene the fiery foster mum, and we have seen signs of that, so I am hopeful we are going to see something in the coming months. We are only 10 weeks into this season, and they can't of course get all of their story lines out in one fell swoop, they have to space them out. I am expecting Irene to shine at some point this year, and will be very disappointed if she doesn't. She is indeed one of their greater assets.

Too damn right I would :P It would be a major mistake, two tempestuous, opinionated, rather dogmatic personalities in the one relationship is doomed from the outset. Alf and Irene are fated to be good friends not lovers. Besides it would lever them very little scope to much with either of them story wise so I hope to god they don't go there, as it would be cutting of a whole host of possibilities. And there is also the question of Morag, and her detective friend Ross Bucton getting Barry off, and Barry returning. I live in hope.

I digresss, but I concur, Irene needs story line, I am sure she will get one. They would be idiots to ignore her.
