Give Irene a decent storyline!

A new family would be great, Irene's daughter Fin would have children coming up to the teenage years now, well they must be over 10 now anyway they could recast her and bring them back to the bay, it would be great to see Irene interact with the child that she carried for her daugther, Irene seem to suspicious now, she has been slow to welcome Micheal, in the old days Irene was always trying to get the best out of people, and would have been the first person to give him a second chance (as she did with Kane)

I can remember back to when Irene first landed on Pippa's doorstep in her mini skirt, looking as rough as alkie should be

another good storyline would be in Barry came back a raving alkie after turning to the grog, in his city exile. Irene takes him in, cleans him up, he gets cleared of murder

and with no Criminal record get's his old job back in after Sally's departure

I remember Irene when she had Selina, Chloe and the Smiths, she was fantastic, emotional and funny. All they seem to do at the moment is give her cups of coffee to hand out.This is a shame as she is a wonderful character, if the newer viewers had seen what we older viewers had seen they would be shouting for more as well. She is much much much much much too good to be left on the shelf in the diner. I want more of the old fiesty motherly caring Irene, who is always there for her kids no matter what, and I would love to see Barry back with her as they were so funny and lovable together.

I love Irene to bits, she is one of my favourite ever characters and to see her so underused really saddens me. She should be at the centre of the action and not just used for a scene here and there in the diner. A few months back, when she took Annie Campbell under her wing, i though it was going to be the start of a storyline, but so far nothing. Saying i am very dissapointed would be an understatement

I see the bareens have come out of hibernation for this thread, how lovely. I too like Irene, my favourite character, a lovely actress, an underused and ignored one by the writers in the last year or so. I would dearly love to see Barry return and for Irene to be given a really strong story line involving the kids she cares for again. Irene is not part of the furniture writers, she is one of your strongest assests, for gods sake use her. I wonder what planet the writers are on sometimes.

I agree, all she does lately is have slight roles in other people's big storylines ie,Martha&Michael and annie,bruce and Geoff!!

I think it'd be a really nice story if Annie and Geoff came to live at hers permanently as a family! It seems there's gonna be sum big stories with Annie in the new year so it'd give Irene opportunity to do what she does best!!

Bringing back Barry would be awesome, but I hope that now Annie and Geoff are at Irene's we see some proper family stuff and they don't ignore her as their carer. I really want to see them develop the relationship like they did with the Smiths. I would love them to give her really MASSIVE story of her own for a change, one which lasted a while and which built up over time. Irene rocks.

Just give Irene something to do that is challenging... not just making cups of coffee! They need to either give her a storyline of her own or involve her deeper in the storylines involving Annie, Geoff and Belle... she needs to be at the heart of these stories as Irene has always been amazing with the kids she has cared for!

Other than that they could have a different storyline involving Irene, Colleen and Alf... either it could be really light hearted and funny or even something deeper and maybe quite dark! That would really be interesting to watch! The oldies involved in something bad!

Of course, I can see it all now Alf with his prison contacts and Colleen and Irene as some sort of latter day Thelma and Louise types, in an attempt to spring Barry from Jail and to prove his innocence of all dastardly crimes. Why don't the writers some up with clever ideas like that?

/\/\/\ I can just see Irene and Colleen driving off to right some wrongs, and Irene does have a mean right hook remember, I am sure that would come in handy punching out someones lights. I love the idea of Barry coming back too. I dont see flamin' Alf as a Harvey Keitel type though

Seriously though I agree with all of the above, Irene has been neglected and does need to back in the fold. An accomplished actor with a good history on the show popular with viewers, and yet one who is not given the material nor the credit she deserves. I think its a crying shame. She deserves to have something to get her teeth into and to be more central to things than she has been of late.
