Yes but hes in prison for double Murder so I cant see that happening ant time soon as his sentence has only begun in the last three years.

Actually Morag got the charges reduced from Murder to manslaughter and that's why he was let out on bail, and manslaughter carries a lighter sentence.

The one with Josh was self defence and the other with Kerry he just lashed out because she killed Charlie and was trying to kill Kim, he could have pleaded insanity on that one...

Either way, I would look right passed it if Barry had to come back, just when I began to like him and things were going well with Irene, he upped and left.

I agree entirely. Josh was self defense and he could have got a very light sentence for that one. Again with Kerry he could have got a lightish sentence because he was protecting his children. He pleaded guilty and would have got brownie points for that. Morag was on his case so she would have something up her sleeve to help him as well. Like Drew I was liking Barry and was sorry he left, so I would be more than happy to see him back. If the writers put their minds to it they could come up with something which was easily believable and we would see a bit more Irene as well.

It would not be easy for the writers to come up with a way for Kerry still being alive, but it is possible and could be done so as to be totally convincing and to fit with existing story lines; and it is also possible for the sentence in respect of Josh to be completely set aside and for Barry to be completely exonerated. I can think of several ways that could be achieved. :D Theoretically Barry could return an innocent man, but somehow I do not see him as a total innocent in either of these situations, there would have to be a twist somewhere, a twist which allows his flaws to remain and to be built upon, and albeit one which would still allows him to return of course.

Irene was due to be given another story before the end of this year, and we only have few weeks left. I hope that out burst with Kirsty, good though it was to watch, wasn't it! It wold be nice if she had something which took her well into the new year.

It has NEVER been established that Barry is in prison, last time he was mentioned he was still awaiting trial. He killed two people by accident;one in self-defence(he pulled a gun on him!), the other while protecting his son(she was trying to drown him).He could easily have got away with a suspended sentence for those. That's what I'm assuming until presented with evidence to the contrary.

That's very true, but wouldn't he have also been charged with concealing a crime, in both cases? Conspiracy to pervert the course of justice or something? I think he and Morag said he was expecting to go to prison for a long time. I would like to know one way or the other. I'd like him back too.

I wish this new story line for Irene would hurry up, and I hope it isn't another KK one as that would be a cop out.

...Possibly.Would you get charged with concealing a crime if it's your crime?Conspiracy to pervert the course of justice...not really, he didn't lie to the police or plant false evidence, although he did hide Kerry's body so maybe...I am possibly living in a fantasy land by saying he didn't go to jail but, hey, until the show tells us we're free to believe whatever we want.Maybe he only got twelve months and he's out now.Be good to have him back in any case.

OMG! I'm so glad i found a thread for this! I have been thinking this for ages! She really needs her own plot line, the last one i remember her having properly was the Corey one! And her relationship with the kids really needs to be written better, it's like she doesn't really have an opinion on anything they do! Like Geoff and Nicole, she hasn't said a word about them! And since when does she like Aden so much!?!?

I'd rather have Paris back than Barry honestly... then that would give her a lot to explain too as no one in her house knows about him, and he could get his job back at the school. Although judging from Irene's record, the next logical man for her to be with would be... Bartlett!

I hate that she's had more scenes this week and yet instead of showing how good friends she is with everyone they've just made her argue!

I was watching some old episodes and everyone is such a community, like when Colleen does her christmas pageant and Irene is the Angel, you can tell everyone watching is friends and now it seems like the only relationship left that should be like that is Irene and Leah and now they're starting to argue too!

Sorry to rant, i just wished that community spirit was back as she used to be one of the ones at the heart of it!

Paris was a bit of a stuffed shirt and that relationship was always doomed to disaster. Paris was always more suited to someone like Sally IMO. I understand that the actor who played Paris is now in Hollywood making films and TV shows etc so there is no chance of hm returning anyway.

I think there is much more potential with Barry should they ever decide to bring him back, he was a much more complex and multi dimensional character and they could take him so many different directions given what has happened to him. But this thread is about Irene and not about Barry, not that you would know that :P

The scenes with Irene and Leah were entertaining this week, and showed some of the fiery fiesty Irene we know and love, the Irene who looks out for her brood. This needs building upon over the coming weeks and months in a more positive way and we have to see Irene with the kids far more often than we actually do.

Any one got any ideas as to where this second Irene story line of the year is? We only have about three weeks left and there is no sign of it yet - I am not feeling very hopeful. :(

I wouldn't be surprised if the argument she had with Leah and Kirsty was the storyline, if the last 'big storyline' was anything to go by.

If Lynne's preformance last night isn't enough to convince the writers (or whoever) that she deserves her own storyline then I'm stumped. Her support of Belle (and Annie and Geoff) is great to watch but she deserves an Irene storyline or her own. I miss the old Irene storylines.

Totally agree, she got more into those few scenes with Belle at the hospital than most of the others do in 20 scenes. You felt every single bit of her emotion and her anger, it was bang on the money.

If it was I am seriously pissed off with the writers.

So true, we know some of the writers read these forums, why the hell aren't they listening?
