yehh i totally agree with this forum topic..itz about time Irene got a decent storyline, she is a great actresses and it is sweet how she has taken in sooo many teenagers now and in the past!!!!!!! I think maybe one of her real kids shud come back that would be interesting( but i must admit i dont really know much about her past, just that she was a alcholic, and was quite a bad mother during that time) But yeh Irene is ace, and ~Home and away wil not be the same without her, where would all the trouble kids go =p summer bay's teen crime rate will go up =p

That story line only lasted a few weeks and then it was back to serving cups of coffee. Irene has only had about three lines this week. she really should have a scene or three with Belle this week after the break up with Aden. It felt like it was missing.

I was hoping we would get a big scene with Belle and Irene after the kidnapping but we didnt, and although we got one scene between them this week, and it was vey nice I know I was not the only one who thought it was too little too late and that Irene is still being neglected by the writers.

The whole original concept of Irene has been lost for a few years now, and we need it back - the writers need to go threw old episodes and watch how the writers that ''got her'' wrote the character. She was a much more prominent character with more depth to her, these days its like the writers just rely on the fact she's been in the show for such a long time, so they don't feel they need to do anything or evolve the character, it makes no sense to me, but they seem to want her doing nothing.

And I wouldn't actually call Kirsty returning, Irene's storyline - it really had nothing to do with her, she was just doing exactly what Irene of yesteryear did every week imo. Besides, all that, she's like a daughter to me meant nothing because they had nothing to do with each other when Kirsty used to be around, other than the last couple of months - and that's exactly how its gone back to.

If anything it's got worse not better, she's changed from the character with no storylines to the character with no dialogue.Irene's much-vaunted Big Storyline turned out to be one that involved her but wasn't actually about her, with her being reduced to a virtual spectator, and only served to keep her out of everything else that was going on at the time. All three of her charges have had a fairly traumatic time lately yet she has next to no scenes with them and when she does it mainly involves giving them disapproving looks. The extent of her involvement really does seem to be "Cup of coffee, darl?"

I agree, but they dont give any of the older long term characters decent storylines. Its like the producers have decided that they only want the teenagers, and Martha, to have the big story lines, and people like Irene and Alf are there to to pat them on the head and provide cups of coffee and turn up at the hospital when they are at deaths door or have been kidnapped. I miss the way they used to use people like Irene Alf and Leah and wish they would stop thinking that we just wanted to see teenagers all the time, we don't. I love Irene, she is a fantastic actress and a fantastic character.

I totally agree with you Kitkat its about time the mature one in the cast had good and strong story lines like when Irene got with Paris and Barry, give Alf some one else from his past to chew on so to speak they call Hoe and Away a teen soap but in the early day it just wasnt about the kids you had the oldies involved as well. bring back Home and Away as it use to be in the late nintys earliy twothousands lets see Peter Baker again plus some more love for Leah.
