~Lynd~ Posted June 11, 2009 Report Posted June 11, 2009 Considering Australia has one of the highest rates of pet ownership in the word it's a bit unrealistic that nobody has one but it's hardly the only unrealistic thing is it?I can understand why it'd be hard to work with them to.It'd be nice if they explained Scruffy appearing suddenly then dissappearing just as suddenly.
alexx Posted June 12, 2009 Report Posted June 12, 2009 To be honest I don't think it has anything to do with how ''hard'' it is to work with animals - chimpanzee's, mice and birds maybe...but a dog? How hard can it be to have a dog on set just sitting there or walking the dog in a scene... if Neighbours can have 5 pets and we see them fairly regularly I'm sure H&A can do it!
ctang Posted June 12, 2009 Report Posted June 12, 2009 I think one of the reasons Home and Away doesn't have pets as they would disturb the plotlines too much. The whole focus should be on the interactions between the characters. Cam
Vanz Posted June 12, 2009 Report Posted June 12, 2009 It would be nice to see two people walking a dog on the beach while they chat instead of just two people chatting on the beach, or a cat cuddling up on the sofa during a conversation in one of the houses. There's no need for pet-related storylines like in Neighbours, the pets could just be accessories. Nicole could have a little chihuahua, Aden could give Belle a cat, there could be a rather large dog like a labrador in the Summer Bay House, maybe Geoff and Annie could have some kind of farm animal, it would give a nice little touch to the show and maybe give us new sides to the characters to have a few pets. And it's pretty strange that there are no animals on Martha's farm. If Neighbours can do it and also have so many children on set, why can't Home and Away? Home and Away have much fewer small children than Neighbours, so surely there's some room for pets on set. There could also be a storyline possibility that someone has allergy and that would create conflict, like if VJ wanted a dog but Charlie had allergy, or if a new foster child moves in to Summer Bay House but Miles is allergic to their pet.
