What would you change about the characters?

Thought it would raise a lot of interesting discussion, so I gave it its own thread

I'm going to ask you guys a question that is purely for fun :P. If you could change something/anything about a character what would it be? By that I mean their personality and the things they do. Obviously the individual personalities of the characters makes them that character, but I think it could be interesting to discuss. For example...is there something about a character that annoys you a bit...well here is the place to vent your anger and discuss why that particular personality trait annoys you and why you would like to see it change.

I look forward to seeing what you all come up with!! :D

I think I'd make Kim more able to express himself. I do like him being the strong silent type, but all to often that turns to the self-destructive, lashing out type... I don't mind him being a self-centered jerk from time to time, in fact it's why I love him :D, I just wish he was more upfront about it, more like a villain in a way, where they do what they want and don't make any apologies for it. Not that I'd want Kim to be villainous, but I think he could benifit from having that attitude.

Robbie... well, Robbie would be here for a start... and with Kim... but you all knew that :P. I wouldn't mind him still having Ella though. Robbie and Kim are both adorable with kids ^_^

Rachel wouldn't be such a passive-agressive harpie. She'd be the strong, intelligent, and fun person she was before she decided to start systematically breaking Kim down into an unrecognisable pile of mush... Of course, if Kim was with Robbie, we wouldn't have to worry about that. Robbie would never be so cruel...

Likewise, Kit would have something better to do than obsess over Kim... I know she always had an obsessive streak when it came to guys, but she used to have a good personality to go with it.

Lucas is just too different at the moment to know what to specifically change about him. I guess I just wish that he was who he used to be, quiet, intelligent, friendly... I don't mind him going off the rails once in a while - everyone does - but... I don't want him to be that guy 24/7... also, if he could get with Ric or Dean, that would be good :P. Mattie would also be acceptable though... Oh, and I want him to be best friends with Belle again. They were such an awesome duo. I mean they were okay as a couple, but as friends... awesome.

Dan wouldn't be such a self-righteous jerk. Leah wouldn't be such a cow. Sally and Brad would try to pretend that they were in a relationship. Alf would be interesting. Martha would LEARN from her mistakes. Jack would have more comedic moments (he's good at those). Tony would be... I don't know... more like Beth :P. I like when parents get all fiesty over their kids. It's neat.

Everyone else is going along normally...

Sally is so follow the rules and it's kinda annoying, if Cassie ever doesn't tell her something she goes 'You really should have talked to us about it' as if teenagers tell their parents everything!

Jack is kinda boring, it's like he could be this sexy cop, cos he's tough but he's nice and kind too but he's just so boring it doesn't happen.

I'd like Mattie to be less of a spoiled princess. I've never warmed to her even though I know she is a very popular character on the show. I find her incredibly self centered and used to getting her own way. There are other people like that but Matilda does it in a way that makes everyone think she's a really sweet goody goody girl when actually I think she can be quite catty about people and just generally...too wrapped up in herself and what she wants.

Also Jack, I want to like him but he is pretty boring and Sally needs to learn when to keep herself to herself.

^ I think Matilda is actually a very realistic representation of a teenage girl. She's generally a kind-hearted, friendly person, but she also has that bitchy, self-centred streak that all 16 year olds have. Being the youngest of five kids doesn't help, as Beth always tended to wrap her in cotton wool (I know Mattie is joint youngest with Henry, but girls are usually more spoiled and over-protected than boys). So personally I'd keep Matilda as she is.

I would change Brad and give him some semblance of a personality, as at the moment I feel like Sally is being short-changed. How can they justify giving arguably their biggest character such a pointless, bland partner? I'd also bring back some of Leah's bubbliness, restore Kit and Rachel to the interesting, strong characters they were before they got involved with Kim, and give Martha and Jack half a brain between them.

Some great discussion guys...keep it coming!! I posted this in the 'How do you think the characters have changed this season' thread but its relevant to this topic too so I just qouted it to save me having to write it all again :P.

The two characters I would change the most are probably Martha and Lucas.

Martha: I love Martha I think she is a great character but someone posted a similar comment in another thread...she doesn't seem to learn from her mistakes! And your point Carmelle about Martha and Jack breaking up then she starts going out with another cop ...I agree. The question I ask when I think about that is that if she went out with another cop so soon after breaking up with Jack...a cop...did she really want to break up with him in the first place if she went and did the same thing again?? But that is another topic in itself...thats more actions than what I would like to see change Martha as a character :P. I think her learning from her mistakes a bit more would be good and more realistic too!

Lucas : I am purely saying Lucas because of whats happening in Aus at the moment, so I can't really discuss it in great detail in here...but he has matured a fair but since he came to Summer Bay and then recently there has been this change in him...not just his actions...but him. He has become more agressive and is quite full of anger sometimes. All characters change at some point for one reason or another but Lucas has really changed, and I just hope like I said in a previous post that something happens that wakes him up a bit to his recent attitude .

Which ever way you look at it you can't really hate a character that much. Its usually what they do or what they don't do that can wind you up a bit. But every character has their own personality which makes them who they are and thats what I love about Home and Away...everyone's personalities mix together, sometimes well sometimes...not so well!! Thats what makes the show interesting and exciting to me :D.

Rachel made a big impression on you in those first three seconds then?

Actually, yes. When she was first introduced she came across as quite feisty and independent, what with helping out during the storm etc. But maybe I should have worded my post differently, as I did still like her when she was first with Kim.

The main change I'd make would be to put the oomph back in Cassie, I loved her when she first arrived, I want her to cause some more mischeif as the Gnome/Ric incident is possibly one of my favourite yet! I'm not sure how this would be done but I think the whole Macca thing should be put away, she was abused for years by her uncle, and she seemed to rise above that really well but this Macca thing....

On a general note I think the girls all arrive fairly fiesty and spunky and then flop after their initial storyline.

And while we are making changes I would bring Scott back :P
